Listening to that goodbye, I get the impression that she was pretty deeply hurt leaving this interview. They say her overdose was accidental, but I'm not so sure. To Howard's credit, he was actually pretty nice and gracious towards Dana and seemed genuinely bothered by the mean callers, but what can you do. Hollywood is a rough business and even though there are a lot of great actors out there, very few of them are prepared for the rigors of stardom.

RIP...as a recovering addict this actually made me feel better about my situation. I honestly can't remember my last day smoking heroin but it was some time between November 22-24 2008 that the switch just turned in my head and I made a conscience decision to quit.

But through use of medical marijuana I am able to live a normal life. You can take that how you want, call me a stoner for smoking and making my own edibles. I'm spending less on my MEDICINE in 2 months than I did 2 days on beebs.

She was so troubled. So sad how she says sorry for offending anyone. You can tell she was so damaged, lonely inside, crying out for help, and lying a lot (like about the Exorcist thing, she WISHED she had done the film). And look how emotional she was anytime a caller said something nice. She was crying out for people to love her. I dont' understand why some of the callers were so angry at her for something that has nothing to do with them .

I still have my doubts that she committed suicide. You heard her say that suicide had never crossed her mind, she had too much to live for, including her son. What I can't believe is how cruel and ugly some people can be. They had absolutely nothing else better to do but to call on a show and attack her? Really? IF it was suicide, I feel totally bad for her son who had to go on without her and never got over her death and took his own life just to be with her.

Talk about kicking a person when they are down. I believe that those hateful callers that called to make all those judgmental, hateful cruel comments to Dana were largely responsible for pushing her over the edge which led to her overdose/possible suicide the next day. The biography channel just aired her bio and it said she was devastated after doing this show. To those who called this show and were so hard on Dana, I hope your asses get a visit from something called "Karma".

When he asked her if she considered suicide I think that was a totally inappropriate question. He should have been taken off of the air after that.  Obviously she was dead the next day because of all this. I don't think the callers really had any right to treat her this way.

@IcouldBNE1 formally speaking, "sounding happy" is no proof of nothing. I agree that she gave the impression of not being suicidal, and it might well be the case that she accidentally overdosed or whatever, but it's one of those things where you can never be REALLY sure about it.
