Sorry it is parked for now and to cold to get out and mess with. You can howeever check out bike bandit. They have a diagram of how things go together.
goto bikebandit website, click oem parts, click Polaris, click 1987, click Trailboss, Choose your machine from the list. Once in the fiche section lookup carb. Good luck.
Do you have any idea where I can get a carb rebuild kit for an 87 trail boss 250? I think mine has a float or something sticking and when you turn it off it floods the carb and leaks gas and is a pain to get started.
It is not does not have gears like a normal transmission (1,2,3,4,5 etc..). It has a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). It has Forward/Nuertal/Reverse but you simply throttle to go. You never shift, you sjust throttle and thats it. Thnk of it as a big ass centrifugal clutch. You just throttle and go. Here is a great video on how the transmission and clutch works. Clutch in the front that moves in tensions your drive belt. Pully in rear turns transmision. Look up Polaris CVT Trans
To shift into nuetral or reverse, does it have a little lever or something to connect a stick or cable to so that you can manually shift it into R and N?
It has a standalone shifter. You reach on right side and behind leg and pull lever out and move into either F/N/R. It has no cables. I can geta short video clip tomorrow if you want.
hey, when u rev it fully, does it go , ttatatatatatatatat at the end? cuz when i rev mine like to the bottom, it goes tatatatatatatatata lol. just wondering if u know what it is
