Really Gambit was the only shining light in this horrible movie. Yeah, he didn't have the accent down, but he at least tried for a accent. The irony is Taylor Kitch actually expressed interest in acting alongside Anna Pacquin when he signed on to the do the role, which further proves that the executives and directors were complete idiots for dumbing down Rogue and pairing her with Iceman.
I like movie Gambit. But I was kind of put out that in the movies he wasn't paired up with Rogue. I loved their rockiy relationship and snarky comments. But instead the paired her up with stupid, cheating Bobby. (Iceman) What a let down. LeSigh. But still, he was wayyyyy hot.
Some of you guys bitch to much. I'm an X-Men fan and while the first 3 X-Men movies sucked. This one was done perfectly. Yeah some of the actors don't resemble the comic versions of the characters but I thought they put effort into their roles. Just enjoy the movie and stop nitpicking

I am not ashamd to say that I enjoyed this film. I feel like I amthe only one in the world who does. I don't care what the critic said. I enjoyed it. I love Hugh Jackman in this role. He was better in this one than the other 3 he did. I loooved Gambit and the actor who played him. He did a good job, sexy , mysterious and can kick some butt, i loved it and own the movie on dvd and want to see more.
Origins:Gambit will more than likely never be made. But, if it was, Ian Somerhalder should definitely play him. His Louisana background would be perfect!! IMO ;)
How hard could it have been to CGI'd Taylor's eyes (if he couldn't tolerate contacts). It's not like he was shown all that much. And how hard would it have been to find him a voice coach for Gambit's Cajun accent? This portrayal was a big let down. Next time Taylor, do your homework.
@rencrow - OK, I'll give them that. However, Remy eyes only flashed red when he was angry in the cartoon series then later they would glow red in the dark in the comics. The ball part (the acutal name escapes me) had been black it would have made all the difference in the world ... at least to me.

major comic geek talking right here. like a lot of people said, taylor was a disappointment to the true image of gambit and there are very easy things that can be done to make his over all persona more appealing to the actual character in the comics and cartoons. 1) work on the accent 2) eyes 3) his powers need more demonstrating. his agility, empathic nature and overall he's a walking kenetic BOMB who can blow himself up if he so chooses. so some flash backs would be nice with him & his powers

I've got my fingers crossed that if and when they do an Origins for Gambit, they get the EYES right. That's the ONLY thing that disappointed me, but I'm to the point that my mind superimposes the infamous red-on-black eyes and I can imagine the accent. Keep the actor. PLEASE keep him.

Actually there was another Gambit. If you watched the long Gambit interview with cast and crew members. They had a stuntman play Gambit in X2 but they cut the scene. It was suppose to be when all the mutants around the world were in pain by the machine that was suppose to kill all the mutants. Gambit was suppse to have a small part where he is holding cards and drops to the ground.
Whatever, dude, but you are wrong. Taylor Kitsch was absolutely not the only candidate for the role, and I'm glad he got it (dunno who the hell Vince Cassel is, but I googled him and damn he's ugly).
Off course there where also other candidates for example Gregory Helms or there was also a big speculation that if they go with an older Gambit then it would be JCVD. But you are missing here the main problem a Cajun (Luisiana French) character is played by an actor who dont have mastered even the accent now that sucks. How hard could it have been to CGI'd Taylor's eyes (if he couldn't tolerate contacts). It's not like he was shown all that much. And how hard would it have been to find him a voice coach for Gambit's Cajun accent? This portrayal was a big let down. Next time Taylor, do your homework.

@rencrow - OK, I'll give them that. However, Remy eyes only flashed red when he was angry in the cartoon series then later they would glow red in the dark in the comics. The ball part (the acutal name escapes me) had been black it would have made all the difference in the world ... at least to me.

@CheeseFish7 wolverine is noob friendly, thats y so many average people like him, they think "oh look, he has claws and big muscles, he's a bad ass" rogue was by far the most bad-ass from the cartoon series, wolverine seemed to get raped every episode tho.

I thought that gambit sucked in this movie his eyes should have stayed red and the way they used his powers sucked too I thought josh hartnett would be better he's a better actor and looks like gambit too with short hair and long hair

Taylor Kitsch had a good look and all, like i did like him. but seriously he could learn a Cajun accent
its like they half assed it with just letting him go a southern accent, but the Cajun was just Gambit
pluss its easyer to make him the butt of more jokes for Logan cause there always calling eachother names
and its not really hard to learn a Cajun accentm you basicly put a flair on french
i learned it in about a week just listening to the origonal Gambit from the cartoon

major comic geek talking right here. like a lot of people said, taylor was a disappointment to the true image of gambit and there are very easy things that can be done to make his over all persona more appealing to the actual character in the comics and cartoons. 1) work on the accent 2) eyes 3) his powers need more demonstrating. his agility, empathic nature and overall he's a walking kenetic BOMB who can blow himself up if he so chooses. so some flash backs would be nice with him & his powers

I've been in love with Gambit on and off since I was 11. Taylor was okay as Gambit but he wasn't as sexy as I imagine Gambit to be.

Taylor Kitsch did a horrible job as Gambit. I was seriously lookin' forward to the Gambit scenes, but was quickly disappointed at the lack of any Cajun in the dude. Find another actor. Please.

bad thing they didn't do Gambit's eyes all red like they should be, but hey i am super-happy that they actually got him inside the movie at all^^ plus i love his staff skills, so awesome. especially when he comes in his last part =D

I've got my fingers crossed that if and when they do an Origins for Gambit, they get the EYES right. That's the ONLY thing that disappointed me, but I'm to the point that my mind superimposes the infamous red-on-black eyes and I can imagine the accent. Keep the actor. PLEASE keep him.

guess it was more like the creators thinking: "ok, we'll throw in Gambit for a few seconds of the movie to make the fans psyched over it and leave the rest of the screentime for wolverine (anyway, HE's the main character... AGAIN!)"

Remy is my favorite X-Men character so of course I'm totally disappointed in the movie version of him. As a comic book lover, I'm used to it, since these films are made for the general I've-never-read-a-comic-book-in-my-life crowd.

@Katalonia08 well Gambit in the Animated Shows has An accent , a pretty cool one but they didn't have that , which is fine with me! i love Gambit , one of my favourite X-Men character if not , My favourite! you should really read some of his comics there awesome! i liked this Gambit! i wasn't really dissapointed except for the "No accent"

gambit has been my fav since i was a little kid and i think taylor kitsch was bloody good. i think the way they showed his powers was good too i just wish he was in it for longer... i hope they bring him back.
i will be sad if they put him with rogue from the films tho... shes nothing like the cartoon/comic

yeah, in the films Rogue is all like "lovey" with Bobby, whereas in the cartoon and comics she likes Gambit. Lol I just wish they had shown more screen time of the newbie students in the cartoon xD

when they went up in the elavator when the team of mutants first joined about a third through the movie Dead pool took out all the Dudes then he starts saynig stuff like "Okay there all dead" and stuff then Stryker walks in and says "You'd be the perfect Soldier if you didn't have that mouth" or along the lines of that i don't completely remember!

I didn't state the film was perfect, please, but let me ask you something: how the fuck you know Taylor Kitsch was the worst candidate ever? Why do you blame him in the first place? If so tiny problems make you angry, then why don't you study acting as well and re-do this film? Besides: a Chinese Hungarian and a Cajun, who doesn't have thick accent is totally not the same, that's obviuos...

I loved Taylor Kitsch as Gambit in this movie! He was perfect! Yes the accent could've been more dead on, but I think he nailed it perfectly with his first line "Do I owe you money?" That made me melt! *shivers* I luv my Gambit!
He's been my favorite xmen since I was a kid! ♥

You douchebags! Give Taylor Kitsch a break for Christ's sake! He did a terrific job on Gambit! He practiced weeks and weeks to do card tricks and bo staff fighting in the 6-7 minutes we can see him in the movie, so don't complain. The lack of accent is the fault of the director, not the actor.

Actually there was another Gambit. If you watched the long Gambit interview with cast and crew members. They had a stuntman play Gambit in X2 but they cut the scene. It was suppose to be when all the mutants around the world were in pain by the machine that was suppose to kill all the mutants. Gambit was suppse to have a small part where he is holding cards and drops to the ground.

Off course there where also other candidates for example Gregory Helms or there was also a big speculation that if they go with an older Gambit then it would be JCVD. But you are missing here the main problem a Cajun (Luisiana French) character is played by an actor who dont have mastered even the accent now that sucks. What would you say if they would make a Komix movie with an Hungarian Mutant played by an Chinesse? Erted mit akarok mondani?
