Awesome, I grew up with this version. When LaBamba came out in the 80's I wanted to just cry. I kept trying to tell my friends .... Nah - its Way to SLOW - listen to Bud and Travis.
@bobbygoode Yes it is Dave "Buck" Wheat playing guitar, he played a good guitar, Goya I think, lol. A session player, always in demand, and almost always booked solid.
I have their Latin album LP and had hoped to record to CD someday. There guys really are talented. Just read they have both died as recent as 09 for Bud. Hope you have video of 60's performances and thanks for posting.

@lhurley5 Extremely talented part of the big pre-Beatle folk revival. La Bamba rocks, the best version I have ever heard. Brilliant guitar work and harmony. They had a bitter break up about a year after this performance, and never got back together before Bud died in 1979. Travis died in 2009.
Oh... Look at their suits... No wonder my generation rebeled... Their words are wild and free .....Their bound by conformity, Kinda' like you are, to the values of your generation... THIMK !!!

Bud & Travis are incomparable!
It is no wonder they were influences on many performers of the era.
Viva Bud y Travis!
...and thanks for introducing me to the rich musical heritage south of the border.
(I was always curious: do Canadians know that old song as "South of, South of the Border, down Mexico way"?)
