@pittsky Thank you for taking the time to watch and write.........it means alot to me and especially today.Nick got married July 8,2006 ....exactly 5 yrs ago today. I still keep thinking that somehow...someday...the front door will open and I'll hear him yell "Hey Mom...I'm home"! And then I'll get one of his wonderful hugs........
@AHeroesMom I'm a Greek mama. You made me cry. Your son's video shows how great boy he was. Notonly a hero, but an example of love and devotion. I'll pray for you to have courage and strength in this pain. I wish I could hug you even if no hug can replace your son's one. Vania
Thanks for sharing, I am very sorry for your loss I can't imagine the emptiness you must feel. Everyone thanks a soldier but they should also thank their family, who I think go through more because of not knowing what is going on. I wish you the best in your healing process.
I wanted to thank you for sharing this. I know the pain must run deep. I have never met your son but as I sit here and enjoy the freedom that he fought for I want to thank him. His service to his country does not go unrecognized. Many people (myself included) get lost in the numbers and sometimes do not think about the man or woman behind the number. This video is a testament to a mans love of his mother, country and countrymen. I truly appreciate his service and wish you my condolences.
Thank you for your sacrifice and sharing your sons story. He is a hero and obviously loved you so very much! I am sorry for your loss he will never be forgotten. God Bless our service men and women.

I too have lost a family member in this war. Many of them, in fact. Though not bound by blood, that Eagle, Globe and Anchor binds us together as a family, and LCpl. Manoukian has been my brother ever since I earned my title. He's up there now, with all of his brothers of sisters who have come and gone before him and those who have bravely fought beside him. I'm sure he's having a drink with Chesty as I'm writing this. If there's anything I can do, please let me know.
@TheCrazySweed Thank you for taking the time to watch the video my son Nick made just a few days before his precious life was taken in this war.I remember how excited he was when he graduated from Boot Camp Parris Island...He was telling me all about Chesty.Your thoughtful words mean alot to me.I miss him so much, miss his great smile and huge hugs, his drum solo's.I wonder if he would have become a Dad by now.....I just don't understand and never will why this happened. Again Thank you, Mary
Sorry for your loss... This is a good way to remember him, and all he fought to accomplish. We keep the fight going in his name, and the rest of our fallen brothers. May We Never Forget!

Thank you so much for this video and your sacrifice. I leave for boot in January, MOS 321 Recon, and this video really opened my eyes. Ironically my name is also Nick and watching it really helped me understand what my mother is going through. She gives me a hug probably 10 times a day, which to me was very annoying.. But after seeing this I'm actually the one hugging her. I joined the Corps because special people like your son.. truly a great marine and no doubt a better person.
@ThaReaper5 Hello Nick, Great name.......my son was named after my father (Nick) that I lost when I was 19. Your comment meant so much to me......you and your Mom must have a very special relationship. And a Mom can never get enought hugs! Nick gave the greatest tightest hugs.I would give anything and everything to just see him again and feel one of his hugs. May God watch over you and maybe you could occasionally let me know how you're doing.... Mary ,Nick's Mom

@73DEZI Thank you Garrett for your kindness and reminding me that this time on earth is just a fraction of time in heaven and one day I'll be with Nick and his Dad again in heaven where there isn't any sadness or tears.Only then will I understand why any of this happened.I wish he could have known the happiness and love of being a father and hearing his own child say "I love you Daddy".

@Snapper1820 Thank you for taking the time to write and to watch the video. My hope is that by watching the video's....my son will always be remembered.
Happy birthday to your son today he's with the Angels now and he did what he was supposed to do and he did a darn good job at it. my Father is a retired MSgt he spent 28 years in the Marine Corps and my brother is in bootcamp now and i'm in DEP until early next summer so God Bless and remember he holds the highest honor with me and my family. Semper Fi
@0811chief Thank you for your thoughtfullness and for your service to our country as a Proud Marine. Tomorrow is my son Nick's Birthday......he would have been 26.He'll be celebrating with the angels, his father, aunts and grandparents. One day I''ll be with him again and there won't ever be another goodbye or tears.God Bless you, Mary
my fiancee is in afganistan now, and i cannot imagine this happening. im so sorry for your loss, and i cannot express the amount of pride i have for being in the marine corps family. just know that your son died so that others could live, he made the biggest sacrifice one could ever make. you will always be part of the marine corps family. your son is looking down on you, and he will never truly be gone.
@TresHollis0341 Thank you for your kindness and for taking the time and care to let me know that my son Nick will never be forgotten. Today... 4 yrs ago August 21,2006 I hugged my son at Camp Lejeune for the last time in this lifetime.I didn't know it would be the last time I saw him in this lifetime. His birthday is August 31....he would have been 26 this year.So handsome,creative....life is empty without him. God Bless you,Mary Manoukian Calhoun
@FuQabcd123 Thank you for taking the time to watch this video my son made for me just 2 nights before he left this earth forever. It is my hope that when people view it...they will get to know my son just alittle.Nick was creative in art, music, writing and creating fun and mischief. His friends depended on him to find weekend entertainment whenever he was home in Michigan.I miss him more every day and still have a difficult time accepting that he really won't ever come home again.God Bless you.
I am so sorry. He's an American Hero, and nothing less. Your son is someone i idolize for his selfless service. Being in the Army myself, it always hurts to hear that my brothers and sisters have as you put it, left this world.
God speed, and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
I'm sorry for your loss, seems like not enough. Your son seems like such a fine young man. My dad was a Navy man, & I, a Wave for a time too. I always felt a kinship to Marines. I hope these wars end soon and that our economy will pick back up for our troops to come back to something good. It doesn't seem right to serve your country only to come home to these troubling times. We have fallen & find ourselves divided as a country. I hope we can come together. Know that your son is with you now.
@braithmorgan Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words and especially letting me know my son is still with me in my memories and my heart. If only I could just feel his hugs again and hear "I love you Mom". Nick was a very special young man. He was my life.
I hope that all of our troops will return home soon.....and no more families will be torn apart by this war.My son will never have the chance to see a child of his own's birth. His precious life was taken by war.
This made me very sad even though I have a father and an uncle serving as I type this in Afghanistan. even though I am just 16 years old I just want to say my thoughts are with you and your family.
@Blusurfers93 Thank you so much for your kindness.I pray that your father and uncle return home safely and soon!
Today is July 18th....4 yrs ago today my son left home and returned to Camp Lejeune. He played his drums....and none of us could have ever imagined in our worst nightmare that it would be for the very last time.......
Wow.. I LOVED this video....made me cry. I am so sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video with the world. I have a son in the USMC, also, my only son and only child. I pray he remains safe!
I am gracious your son served his country well. I myself, I am a U.S Army solider and I know how hard it will be for my mother especially when I leave because we never know if I will return. My prayers go to you and your family.
I was serving in Fallujah under RCT 5 at the same time your son was in Ramadi, and I can tell you from experience that the military didn't seem to care about concussions and TBI at that time. This is why I am now a 100% disabled retired veteran after only serving for 6 years. I lost a very close friend in Fallujah and I feel for you just the same as I felt for Staff Seargent King's mother, but I want you to know that we made the biggest difference in the Al Anbar province during this time.
As a mother, I am so sorry for your loss. As the sister of a lost brother (non-combat/mil) , I beg you to please carry on... never give up. As the wife of a Msgt, I thank you from the bottom of my soul for your sacrifice and bravery--you are a cut above the rest of us.
Oh my god AHeroesMom, I am so sorry for you....thank you for sharing this....As a mother I have no idea how you feel losing a son....My heart goes out to you.
My dad was with Manny when everything happened. I never got to meet him, but everything my dad has said about him is great. R.I.P your son is a true hero!
god bless you for being such a strong woman in such a hard time in your life....dont give up hope in life...your sons are watching over you in heaven, and i only wish that when i get older i could have the strength that you do...bless you
The one of them doing whatever the heck theyre doing in the dark is my favorite part :) i watched that video on nathans camera after it happened and it made me laugh and makes me smile cuz you can hear him laugh in part of it...i miss his laugh :( and everything else about him for that matter. I'm sorry I havent emailed you lately but i truly hope you're doing well. Just know these guys will NEVER be forgotten and their story will live on for ever!
Thanks for writing and for always remembering our Heroes,Nate,Nick and Cliff.....The dark part of the video is when they were pulling my son Nick all wrapped in the sleeping bag. They kept saying "cut out Manny" waiting for him to break out of the sleeping bag.I watch it often...laugh,mostly cry just hearing his voice and laugh again.I miss him so very much...each day is closer to seeing him again and that's all I can pray for now..... Love,Mary Mom of Cpl Nicholas Manoukiian KIA Oct 21,2006
honey from 1 marine mom to another, I thank you for giving us such a hero, u gave birth to a hero and he died as such, I know he is in heaven watching over u and now he is ur guardian angel, his job as a protecter will go on. God bless u honey and may ur son R.I.P.
@AHeroesMom OMG, how truly heart wrenching!!! My son is also my only child and a Marine. He is my whole world and life without him would be meaningless. I wish I could put into words how truly sorry I am for your lose. Semper Fi Sister. Always here for my fellow Mom's anytime.
i was in 2nd platoon, and i will never forget that night. i miss them. i carry the initials NM, NE, CC with me everyday. "when you go home, tell them for us and say, for your tomorrow , we gave our today"
Thank you so much for letting me know that my son Nick"Manny",Cliff and Nate will NEVER be forgotten. Knowing that....means so much to me. Nick had so many hopes and dreams planned for when he got out of the Marines.I still think that one day my front door will open and he'll rush inside..give me one of his ribsmashing hugs and then run downstairs and start playing his much loved drums. May God Bless you! Mary...CPl Nick"Manny"Manoukian's Mom
I am deeply sorry 4 ur loss maam...as a Marine veteran myself, it hurts 2 see this so much. Your son is my hero, n altho i ddnt knw him, he is still my brother!!! I'm so glad that u were able to see the video ur son Nick made for u...
This is amazing. Thank you for sharing. Your son died honorably, and for the great nation we are. Many of us will be following him, he will not have died in vain, ma'am. We all thank you and your son for the sacrifice and pray for your family.
I can imagine what would be like. My cousin just went in the marines and about to be on his way to Iraq sometime soon. Seeing him do that has made me feel so patriotic. I wish to follow in his footsteps and fight for my country.
My husband is 1/6 weapons and is on his way to iraq in august 2009. I hope your son watches over his unit, he gave his life to protect ours and i am very grateful. Semper Fi. RIP
God bless you, ma'am. Thank you for having the courage to post this video, so that we may have some understanding of what our guys in uniform deal with.
hello mam. i read in your other vid that your son lost his dad at the age of 12 i lost my dad wen i was 14. im also joining the marines this summer. if my experiences are anything like your sons then you should nkow that your son was probably more woried about you while in iraq than himself. just like i will worry bout my mother. semper fi mam we lost a good 1
Im so sorry for your loss. I know what you feel. My brother was a 1st Lieutenant in the Marine Corps serving in Fallujah. He was killed on March 22, 2006. Well, at least we shall see them again some day. Semper Fi
What a priviledge it must have been to know Nick. He was my cousin but I never knew him in life. Your videos mean the world to me and I'm sure many others. I watch and wonder what a difference he could have made in my life.

Know that your son is with you now.
braithmorgan 1 year ago
@braithmorgan Thank you for your kind and thoughtful words and especially letting me know my son is still with me in my memories and my heart. If only I could just feel his hugs again and hear "I love you Mom". Nick was a very special young man. He was my life.
I hope that all of our troops will return home soon.....and no more families will be torn apart by this war.My son will never have the chance to see a child of his own's birth. His precious life was taken by war.
May God Bless you...
