Do you thing you can give me some instruction on how to catch, I play Lacrosse last year on the JV team and I learned well enough to play but I'm still not confident in my catching, passing and shooting. @itunes272 Just get a cheap stick you dont need a great one if you're just starting. I play boys lax and thats what i did. After a few years start buying better sticks. The first one you get should last you a few years though my first stick recently broke after 7 years of using it.

Good instruction but not too many would be able to catch on their offside. It might be good to tell them not to get frustrated if they have trouble with that.

first off I am a guy and I play men's lacrosse

women's lacrosse is hard because the pocket is so shallow, and it's all about strategy and stick skills

men's lacrosse is hard because you have people trying to kill you, so you have to make your moves before the big d-pole gets to you, and you have much more freedom when it comes to where you swing your stick

well in mens it depends on what level of lacrosse you're playing, if your playing in elementary school then what you said is true, but if it is any grade higher then you don't have people trying to kill you as much, hits are much less likely as you get older and stick skills improve rather then just playing kill the man with the ball. lol im not really sure why i was watching this, because i play mens lacrosse, but i wanted to make it a known point, that in many aspects girls lax is like fundamentally harder than guys. but guys lacrosse its a lot more hard hitting. which in its own way makes it a tough sport

Guys get to hit each othe all over the place, so they need that pocket. Girls are only allowed to hit certain spots on the stick, not each other.

because guys have less restrictions on contact, they can hit between the waist and neck with their stick and anywhere on the opponents stick, girls can only hit the stick and not between the hands, guys need the extra pocket so the ball isn't on the ground the whole game, if women had that big pocket it would be too easy

Men's lax is much more physical.

I've played both men's and women's (school didn't have women's when i first joined), and I've found the men's to be more physically demanding, but women's more mentally demanding

What takes more skill is getting hit in the stomach or hit in the head and still being able to hold the ball. I will admit that it seems to take more skill to use a girl stick but other than that boys lacrosse takes more skill in every way.

So basically your argument here is that because male lacrosse players are accosted by metal poles, they are automatically more skillful? I hate to break it to you, but whacking people with a stick (or incurred "death" as you've so graciously named it), does not take skill -- nor does subsequently being beaten by one. Just because your rules allow you to be more physical, does not mean you are more skillful a player in your arena than female is in hers. This is like comparing apples and oranges.

I apologize for not answering sooner. Yes, I think these videos are good. But, don't overwhelm yourself by trying to learn everything at once. Pick one video, and work on just that one topic for a day. Then pick another video and repeat. Rotate your videos so you don't get bored. One of the most important things you will need to learn is to cradle. Practice with both hands. Find a club or rec team to join. You'll make new LAX friends! And, most importantly, keep it fun!
