you have to post how to make that box for two 12s lol. (with the correct measurements if you would please) cuz im buying a 93 camaro and the first thing i noticed when looking / test driving the car was where the f.$@k am i going to put subs lmfao and your system is tight bro
Im liking how the box looks man, nice job. I just redid my entire system this week, im deffinately a JL fan now. Took out my 2 12" pioneers and replaced it with one 10w6 in the high output wedge box JL makes for it and put in 4 all new 5X7" kenwoods. It's crazy how clean and loud my shit is now with only one 10".
@liltonz6091 There is a rubber grommet you can remove and cut a hole in for your power wire. it's on the passenger side under the hood behind your computer.
@liltonz6091 i think theres a drain plug in pasenger side floor board then you can run a wire to the batt thru the frame i did it in a 03 trans am cant see the wire at all
@CivicFiberglassDoor If you have a JL amp its going to pound Hard! i have 2 12w6v2 with a shitty 2000 watts amp it hits hard but the amp is dying on me...
jeeeez id be happy with one of em... recently got alpine ida x100, so when i get some money the build will begin w6 will blow the roof of my little vw lupo LOL
pinpoint each rattle. if its a bolt, i tightened it. if it was a piece of plastic, id take it off and put a small strip if 1/2" thick hushmat behind it. i filled the spoiler with greatstuff foam to quiet the supports.

nice ass setup...looks super clean and thats a good amount of power for those subs...but honestly that thor sticker is screaming white trash to me lol remove that sticker and it 5stars straight up...sweet setup bro
hey this might be asking alot of you but i want a 4th generation camaro. which is what u have. and i need to know how much room is in the back. so if u want to help me i need the width from side to side and the length from the back seat to very back and the hight from the floor in the hatch to were the window starts. dont measure in the well. i need to no this because i plan on doing a build. plz help me but only if u want to.
from the plastic on the left and rights sides its exactly 3 ft i think. as far as front to back, maybe 4 and an average height of about 12inches. (most being 20" least being 8") these are rough, but give you an idea.
hey colt dont know if you remember me or not, traded my 2 12" cvr's for 1 10" w6 in a ported box and let me tell you..the quality of this subwoofer is INSANE! Hopefully when i sell this premier 12" ill have enough for another w6! ill get vids asap.
people really dont understand..JL audio subwoofers are meant for sound QUALITY..and they have no competition with that..but of course FI BTL 18s are gonna shit on them in SPL..just because a JL w7 cost like 500 bucks doesnt mean that its the loudest sub...but its made the best and has the best sound..
hood nigga by gorilla zoe and thats a quite controversial question. in a nutshell if you want sound quality go with jl w6 or w7 or even w3. if you want spl go with kicker L7 or solo x
he didnt ask if something was better than kicker or JL, he asked which of the two was better, and i told him. i agree with you but you might consider taking the time to say something a little more intelligent, or at a minimum slightly more polite.
hey dude i was just wondering if you knew the sizes of the door speakers and the ones on the back right next to where the back passengers sit, im trying to fix my system up from scratch and cant find the sizes anywhere
sail panels (back seat area and 6.5/6.75 (same thing) and the front doors are the same as that and the furthest rear and 4". if your radio says "monsoon" on it, you have a big black box in front of your spare tire in the wheel well that is an amplifier. the speakers in the sail panels (rear seat are 6" subs. if it does not say monsoon, i dont know much about anything else.
ive added a lot more since that vid, i have the 1000/1, a 300/4, an ida-x100 alpine, 2 sets of alpine type r component speakers, optima yellow top, iraggi 200amp alt, all stinger wiring, box materials, fiberglass materials. ive spent about 3 grand. but by no means was that all at once. its been one piece at a time the whole way. im either slapping two 10w7's in there or a 13w7 before long. havent decided yet...
have you thought about taking a detour and not going down the beaten path of buying over priced and over hyped JL products? for 200 dollars less you can get something better than a w7. FI has affordable subs and they are eons past JL in quality.
I am trying to figure out the best way to get the most out of my system without exhausting them. Right now I have 2 10w6v2-d4 with the jumpers @ 8 ohms powered by a 500/1 (they barely get excursion). Im going to get a 1000/1 by the end of the week. What is the difference of playing the subs @ 8ohms vs 2 or 4?
well, for starters, lets pretend you dont have a JL Slash amp. typically the higher the the resistance(ohms) the lower the RMS wattage an amp can produce. the lower the resistance, the higher the wattage. also typically the higher the resistance the higher the sound quality (hence expensive SQ home audio speakers advertising 32/64 ohms) in the case of a slash amp, it will produce its stated rms wattage anywhere from 1.5 ohms to 4 ohms. anthing above or below that will put the amp into a sort of
"safe mode" which will cause your power to be cut completely in half. the optimal setup for the w6's and the slash amp is to have the jumpers set to two ohms on the subs and then the subs wire in a series giving you a final impedance of 4 ohms. you'll maximize sound quality as well as get the most out of your slash amp.
yeah, and pretty much. ive hooked up those plus a set of kicker cvr's with the same wattage and coil configurations just to see what it would push and without the input sensitivity even being all the way up, i could bottom out all four with ease...
built it. you can get cheapos on ebay, but if yo put a halfway decent sub in them, they come apart. i built mine to meet the specs of my subs as well as not fall apart because of them.
Nice BANG out of all the ones i heared urs sounds the cleanest the lows and the highes there almost abut right not like the other ones you can only hear the dam low no highs at all man
I just got some 12s SVX wire to kicker 1500.1 with 0 gauge wires. It sounds crazy I'll upload a video soon. I have an LS1 and my box goes deeper, thats why I asked if yours was an LT1!
thanks man, i rather wire each sub to 2ohms(+-+,- to -) run + from amp to + terminal on sub1, - from amp to - on sub2 then run jumper from + on sub2 to - on sub1. wiring it the way i just described does it really function good, im new at wiring subs properly as you can tell lol, and if my wiring is correct, can i turn my amp up to 1000rms to distribute even power "500rms sub1, 500rms sub2" or will the correct rms be pushed even to both if i set my amp at just 500rms, i just wanna make sure.
either way that i descibed, the subs are going to get 500 watts rms each. i have them wired the way u just said and it works great. what youn DONT want to do is run a wire to each sub from each set of terminals on the 1000/1. this can screw up the amp and subs.
two options, wire each sub to 2 ohms, then put them in a series, or wire each sub to 8 ohms and put them in parallel. either way you get 4 ohms, and if you wire it at 1 ohm, the "Low Ohm" light comes on...
very nice. i got 4 13 w3v3 in a blazer. if your lookin for some components you should chek out hertz..just az good if not better thatn jl but cheaper. the stereo shop round here juz got em
i built this box myself. it cost me about $50 in materials and about 3 hours of time. basically you just make a fitted front/top of the box so it fits in the back and then you build a box on the bottom side of it to whatever specs jl gives you for your subs. for the 12s or 13s it'd be a little more difficult because you would have to make it into two different sections one which fits in the main air where the t-tops go and another that fits down in the little gap for the t-tops.
Ha yeah i've seen ur old and new boxes that you had. Its just a funny coincidence that my old system was 2 12 Memphis but im not sure on the model but I think i had the M3 class. They were good but I used equalizers on my head unit. On my one 13 I use no equalizers and its at least twice as loud. JL all the way
sadly and stamgely enough..... sony... they arent walmart type tho, they're the higher end and i have them running off the H.U. eventually i want to go with some fosgate T1 components or some jl c5 components with a jl 300/4. the only reason im thinking fosgate is because with all the bills i have nowadays, jl door speakers just arent feasable on my budget. i can get two sets of fosgate components for what i can get one set of c5's for...
True they are pricy but if you can save up for it they should be worth it. I had my stuff put in during the summer of last year and had the XR components put in the front and the XR coaxials in the back with the 450/4 just before they discontinued the XR's. I even got them at a decent price, sounds funny.Worth the money. Goes really well with the 13 W6.
But did you install it yourself or professionally?? My advice would be professionally because the box wasnt secured properly and they fixed that. Also I had 2 wires go loose on the coaxials in the back and they fixed that too for free. PS nice box man I like the red insert.
I did everything myself, but I'm no n00b. The car audio shop where I used to live offered me a job right before I was getting ready to move and I'm working on a car audio installer position as we speak.
very nice system... where did you get your enclosure? i have a 01 trans am and want a box deasign like this for w6's also, preferable 13' but i could easily settle for 12. i already have the 2 13' w6s and a jl 1000.1, along with jl 4 channel and infinity kappa all the way around. if you know a place where i can get one of these please let me know!!
wire each sub for two ohms (putting the jumpers on the subs from positive to poistive and negative to negative). after that run the positive from the amp to the positive on sub #1, take the negative from the amp and put it on the negative terminal on sub #2 then put a jumper wire between the remaining positive terminal on sub #2 and the negative terminal on sub #1. this will give you an overall impedance of 4ohms. you can also do it a slightly different way and get the same end result...
what size amp do u have and wire and ohm setup because i have 2 12'w6v2 and a 1000/1 jl audio amp and 4 gauge all round just asking around before i hook it up
you have to post how to make that box for two 12s lol. (with the correct measurements if you would please) cuz im buying a 93 camaro and the first thing i noticed when looking / test driving the car was where the f.$@k am i going to put subs lmfao and your system is tight bro

Nice set up though!
I just got some 12s SVX wire to kicker 1500.1 with 0 gauge wires. It sounds crazy I'll upload a video soon. I have an LS1 and my box goes deeper, thats why I asked if yours was an LT1!
yazaodeh84 3 years ago
I wired my w6s like yours and they work great, thanks for all the help
edspecial2007 4 years ago
thanks man, i rather wire each sub to 2ohms(+-+,- to -) run + from amp to + terminal on sub1, - from amp to - on sub2 then run jumper from + on sub2 to - on sub1. wiring it the way i just described does it really function good, im new at wiring subs properly as you can tell lol, and if my wiring is correct, can i turn my amp up to 1000rms to distribute even power "500rms sub1, 500rms sub2" or will the correct rms be pushed even to both if i set my amp at just 500rms, i just wanna make sure.
edspecial2007 4 years ago
either way that i descibed, the subs are going to get 500 watts rms each. i have them wired the way u just said and it works great. what youn DONT want to do is run a wire to each sub from each set of terminals on the 1000/1. this can screw up the amp and subs.
colthard 4 years ago
two options, wire each sub to 2 ohms, then put them in a series, or wire each sub to 8 ohms and put them in parallel. either way you get 4 ohms, and if you wire it at 1 ohm, the "Low Ohm" light comes on...
colthard 4 years ago
lol whats another way to wire two w6s from a JL 1000/1??? thanks

very nice. i got 4 13 w3v3 in a blazer. if your lookin for some components you should chek out hertz..just az good if not better thatn jl but cheaper. the stereo shop round here juz got em

i built this box myself. it cost me about $50 in materials and about 3 hours of time. basically you just make a fitted front/top of the box so it fits in the back and then you build a box on the bottom side of it to whatever specs jl gives you for your subs. for the 12s or 13s it'd be a little more difficult because you would have to make it into two different sections one which fits in the main air where the t-tops go and another that fits down in the little gap for the t-tops.

JL all the way

hahaha, nice
colthard 4 years ago
Just curious your components dont sound too bad. What did you use?
RepresentinJL 4 years ago
sadly and stamgely enough..... sony... they arent walmart type tho, they're the higher end and i have them running off the H.U. eventually i want to go with some fosgate T1 components or some jl c5 components with a jl 300/4. the only reason im thinking fosgate is because with all the bills i have nowadays, jl door speakers just arent feasable on my budget. i can get two sets of fosgate components for what i can get one set of c5's for...
colthard 4 years ago
True they are pricy but if you can save up for it they should be worth it. I had my stuff put in during the summer of last year and had the XR components put in the front and the XR coaxials in the back with the 450/4 just before they discontinued the XR's. I even got them at a decent price, sounds funny.Worth the money. Goes really well with the 13 W6.
RepresentinJL 4 years ago
id sure like to stay all jl, but who knows... all depends on what money allows for
colthard 4 years ago
But did you install it yourself or professionally?? My advice would be professionally because the box wasnt secured properly and they fixed that. Also I had 2 wires go loose on the coaxials in the back and they fixed that too for free. PS nice box man I like the red insert.
RepresentinJL 4 years ago
I did everything myself, but I'm no n00b. The car audio shop where I used to live offered me a job right before I was getting ready to move and I'm working on a car audio installer position as we speak.
colthard 4 years ago
Ok sounds good because I had my stuff put in professionally.

very nice system... where did you get your enclosure? i have a 01 trans am and want a box deasign like this for w6's also, preferable 13' but i could easily settle for 12. i already have the 2 13' w6s and a jl 1000.1, along with jl 4 channel and infinity kappa all the way around. if you know a place where i can get one of these please let me know!!
xIJRADIx 4 years ago
the 10s dont require mcuh airspace so the back of the box is actually quite small. if you have any other questions, feel free to message me.

wire each sub for two ohms (putting the jumpers on the subs from positive to poistive and negative to negative). after that run the positive from the amp to the positive on sub #1, take the negative from the amp and put it on the negative terminal on sub #2 then put a jumper wire between the remaining positive terminal on sub #2 and the negative terminal on sub #1. this will give you an overall impedance of 4ohms. you can also do it a slightly different way and get the same end result...
colthard 4 years ago
what size amp do u have and wire and ohm setup because i have 2 12'w6v2 and a 1000/1 jl audio amp and 4 gauge all round just asking around before i hook it up
