The Futur has been my favorite DE razor for years. It is very heavy, but that makes the shave a little more comfortable for me. Dont use any pressure with this razor, its own weight is plenty. Under the nose is the only real drawback. Until you figure out the angles its a pain. This was a good video Thomas, Dont worry about them being to long. Keep up the good work.
Excellent video! I use a Future as well,, and it is my heaviest razor. I use it with Feather blades and I agree it is a bit too heavy, especially top heavy. Its one of the DE razors I don't shave my scalp with (I am bald currently), but it does a really fine job of getting the face about as smooth as my straight razors without having to hone and strop it first. Your videos are fantastic documentaries. Thank you!
Hello Thomas, this a report from my Norton hones I picked up a month ago.WOW I brought my Wade and Butcher and a Rolls Razor back from the dead.I bring both on the road (truck driver) .all the time. The other drivers think im crazy untill they see what a close shave is all about.Ill never shave with a disposel again! Oh what was the mane on the german straight you have,I want to get 1.thxs again for all your teachings.Ray from Oregon,USA
Hey Thomas! Thank you so much for the review. It is excellent and will help anyone who is thinking about the Futur. I actually purchased a Futur myself after the request. I completely do agree about the feedback but I think the beauty of it is due to the adjustability. Sometimes I like a mild shave or close to cut throat (muhle r-41). I've owned the 11 R-41 but sold it off b/c you can't use it as an everyday shaver but with the Merkur Futur you can!
one thing to consider, when it comes to an adjustable, is you may save money by just having an adjustable. as opposed to trying a bunch of different razors to find one that suits your needs.
thanks for doing this video im up in the air between the Futur and the Vision. also thanks for the glycine tip works awesome. and dont make your videos shorter!
@CorCat87 I have used both the Futur and the Vision. I ended up buying the Futur. The head is a bit smaller which makes precision shaving a bit easier. Also the futur was much less expensive and is still a solid work horse for your face. I can recommend the Futur
@CorCat87 Thx for the feedback on the videolenght. I am a little conserned, that my videos might be getting to long and boring, so its nice to hear that some people dont fint it to be the case.
I have never tried the Vision, but I can only imagine what a monster of a razor it must be!! That thing is huge in my opinion.
Let me know what you get and how it works out, please.
@FragranceCollectorUS I suggest that you check out my video on custom made shaving brushes, or my überlather video. If those do not help you, feel free to return to me again.
Hi Thomas. What happens when you put the razor on 2 or even 1 for your last pass and shave against the grain? Or maybe against the grain is a terrible idea for you. My brother can't shave against the grain because it really screws up his skin. I would like to know if it makes a closer difference to see if I will buy an adjustable. Thanks bro! Keep up the great videos. Always look forward to them.

@rixcat I am like your brother: shaving ATG is just a horrible idea for me. My skin is too sensitive and I suffer for days afterwards if I go ATG. Even shaving WTG, I cannot perform this everyday. I can shave two times a week, thats it.
I guess that you could change the setting, depending on the pass you are performing, but I really cannot guide you in the ATG shaving.
@church132 Well I had to shave for the video. Also I like to shave/grow a beard every now and again. I dont stay the same. My beard grows rather fast, so I can get a new beard when I want. But thx for the compliment.
That beard is immaculate! Every time I let a beard start I have extremely obvious bald patches. You sir are lucky! hahaha

Thomas another great video- and as others have said don't worry about the length. Every second of your videos are instructive.
The Futur is incredibly popular. My only issue with it, is that the head seems too big to comfortably do the fine details (such as the top lip area).

Is there a difference between the TTO razors and the 2 or 3 piece?

We don't care about the video length. As least I don't. We're diehard shavers!!
