@TheMJcreations it depends...a fully grown snake will eat medium to large adult mice while a smaller adult will eat small adult mice. A good way to find out is to make sure your feeder mouse is a TINY bit bigger than the thickest part of youre snake.

snakes need pinkies at a young age. most corn snakes will coil around it, as they are constrictors. it is equally okay for them to just cut to the eating, it makes them more socialized and safe towards humanscorn snakes will get to be six feet long, and pinkies usually make a small small lump.
i had the exact smae problem as well but the way i worked it out was yeah number one the eyes goes bluey milky and then they clear again but secondly the skin looks dull and not as bright as usual. even if your finding it hard to judge if you have an inkling that he/she is in a shedding mood just prepare him/her for a shed no harm done if he/she doesnt shed XD hope this helps :)
The only problem with a live feed and having a younger smaller snake is the potential damage to the snake. Feeding a pinkie mouse is not too bad because they lack the claws. Its a fuzzie mouse or larger you may get problems with harming the snake.. Other than that its all nat-u-al!!!!

True..but with patience they will. My brother has a snake that ate live when he got it but he now eats "humanly" killed prey. So we DO have a choice. Other domesticated animals that we keep here in the US don't eat live and they once did. Other countries feed humanly unlike our own and have all the breeds of snake that we have here and snakes do just fine. Professionals at the zoo's also feed humanely.

First of all dude, that setup sucks. You don't even have any substrate in there. The only place it can hide it in it's hubba hut! Secondly, you can feed live or thawed dumbasses. It's not considered inhumane. It's the food chain. It's the same thing as us killing chickens or cows.

It is inhumane to feed live. By the way, I don't kill cows or chickens and the more I learn about how we treat our food chain is deplorable. The reason why snake owners feed live is for the pleasure they get from seeing another living being taken down. When a human hands a snake live prey, it's not natural in any shape way or form. It needs to stop.

By that argument you could say its not natural to feed something un-cooked fruit or vegetables, since they are technically still alive while being eaten. Anyway the mice are bread to be food for the snake, either the snake kills it or a human does.

Yes,it is inhumane. I don't know about you but I haven't kill any animal for food and definetly have never eaten an animal alive. Yeah, here in this country animals here are killed for human consumption. Have you ever seen how they are killed. It's deploreable and it's wrong how we do it when we can do so humanely. It's one thing taking their life but to cause extreme suffering and treatment is wrong.

No they have poor venom, that's if they even have venom at all. You're supposed to feed it dead ones but this asshole obviously doesn't care that the pinky is suffering due to the snake being too pathetic to kill it first before it swallows it.

That's awesome, i feed my blizzard corn snake dead pinkies, but it still trys to constrict them when it strikes, well it does, it's only 2 month old, i think i will move it onto live pinkies, see how he goes....:)

PS people, you shouldn't give them live ADULT mice-rats as they can claw their eyes/skin and hurt the snake. I reeeally don't think baby mice can do that.

Snakes>mice. Mice are disease carrying vermin, who will only live to see a couple of years anyway, if they're lucky. Not to mention they're in the millions. They're not going anywhere. Snakes are awesome creatures, with the potential of being very affectionate pets (<3 ball pythons) who last forEVAR. >:D Man, that is so awesome. XD I'd hate to be digested alive for weeks, though.
