hey my pc is freezing randomly restarting a friend of mine said hat it isnt the memory because it was not freezing to often then he said it might be the hdd or the sata cable so he put a new sata cable and it was ok and after 1 day when i got it back it start freezing again RAM or HDD? OR EVEN THE MOTHERBOARD?
Thanks man, u are making life easy for people out here... any ways keep it up!
I have a question please!
some times my PC gets hanged and green vertical lines (like Sugarcane) appear. I have to switch off my power supply and restart PC.
I am using Intel Corei5, with 4GB RAM (2x2) on inter HD67CL Motherboard. it is important to tell you that i have a graphic card too and it is sapphire 6790 with 1GB DDR5, 256bit.
Please guide.
Planing to test individually 1st with out 1 RAM & CARD

any idea why memtest picks up errors when I use all 3 of my 1 gig ram sticks and run it and doesnt pick up any errors when I run 1 stick at a time to find out which 1 is the bad stick? thx for reply in advance.
@Aldind2x I recommend a couple things, one run this memtest... next run spinright on the HD to make sure there are no bad sectors, the run prime 95 to see if there are any errors on the CPU, then if you game, play an intense game for a couple hours. I suggest playing the game, because the 3D render tests are just usually for the GPU, playing taxes everything better (mice, ram, sound, drivers, etc) I find.
@DefconComputers What about the Ultimate Boot CD? It seems to have a bunch of tests that would also be good. Yes, my new computer rig will be aimed at playing a few of the blizzard entertainment games.
my mem tested bad when i used win mem test @ 1066mhz , 2 dimms at the same time, but when i tested them one at a time @ 800 on memtest they seemed like they okay. is it that my board cant accomodate 1066?
so say if you have 4096MB of RAM installed (4GB) and you get an error that is like 586.5MB, that would be in the first "half" of the total memory, indicating that the error came from the first stick right? do you always count from the CPU socket outwards?
@chaosrealm93 it depends on the system, but 99% of the time that is the way it works.
If the system has 2 2gb sticks the 586mb mark is likely in the first memory stick. Pull that stick out and try putting the second one in it's place and leave the original out. Run the test again for an hour or two and see if it comes back. If not, put the questionable stick back in by itself and test it alone for a couple hours.
@chaosrealm93 oh ok. cuz right now, i have 6 sticks of 2GB ram sticks from corsair, all from RMA..... =( but anyways, among the 6 sticks only 1 stick passed the memtest. so im planning to either send them back for RMA or just buy from a diff company. but if i do send it back for RMA, is it ok to mix RAM that are different versions? they say that the pairs are "matched" at the factory.

Running this test, does this scan all the modules of RAM? I have 4 x2gb sticks scanning atm and wondering is it scanning them all?

What kind of test to do you recommend I run to make sure all the parts are in good working order for a newly assembled computer?

@zoom26 It's a good chance that is the issue, if you are trying to overclock the memory that is a clear sign of it.
