Having a codeless system isn't a great idea in my opinion. If you lose your keys, congratulations, not only have you given someone a way to easily enter your home, but also a way to disarm your system if you're lazy and don't deactivate your keychain! Not to mention the magnetized key fobs, much like hotel keycards, can easily lose their data if you get them anywhere remotely near a cell phone. ADT probably charges an arm and a leg to replace them too. /sigh
if you guys are going to get adt save yourself 100 bucks and do it from this website(pick the last one, sign up and look for it) you will get 100 bucks cash back in either a prepaid visa, check, or paypal.
Its so funny how security companies make it sound like your a bad parent if you don't have a 1000 dollar security system installed. Guess what, if I'm home and someone breaks in I can call the cops probably faster than an alarm system can and if I'm not home and no one is the police aren't going to get there fast enough to stop someone. Buy each of your family members a 15$ can of mace and they'll be so much safer than with an ADT security system.
I'm a firefighter and just about all of the fire alarms we respond to from ADT are false alarms. The alarm company doesn't bother to determine if its a false alarm until after we've been dispatched. We still have to respond and its an inconvenience for us and the home/business owner. Personally I wouldn't want one of these alarm systems in my home.
Yeah, I mean how often does the average person accidentally set off there smoke alarm? Alot! I know mine goes off once a week, I can just imagine how pissed firefighters like you would be if you were at my house at least once a week!
That's exactly what it is. I wish the alarm company would call the palce where the alarm activated first before having us dispatched. I know that in a real emergency seconds count but there are several times that we go back to the same places. Five seconds after the call is dispatched, the dispatcher calls back and states that it is a false alram per the alarm company. We still have to go non-emergency and take a report. Its frustrating, especially when its at 2AM in the morning.
I've been a firefighter for ten years and we have never had a real fire as a result of an ADT alarm activation. Like I stated in my post that you replied to, we get activated and then disregarded five seconds later. Its a waste of time and its frustrating. On top of that people sometimes get mad when we show up to get report information. I don't wish for anyone to have a fire, but you're right, my general attitude is that it is just an ADT fire alarm.
Oh, OK. I'm not against alarm systems, in fact there are some that I'd recommend. Its just that in my experience in fire and security I've seen a few that aren't very professional, and ADT is one of those that doesn't impress me. I don't know if you can confirm this, but does ADT or any other alarm company have their monitoring center in India or somewhere overseas? If so, then I definately wouldn't recommend them.
Well, that's good. I'm glad that at least peoples' safety isn't in the hands of someone over on the other side of the world who doesn't speak English as a first language and probably doesn't even know what an alarm system is for. It seems that so many other companies doing this to save a few bucks, but are hurting customer service.
Not only is the company doing it to save a few bucks. but customers as well. there are thousands of alarm companies out there who contract their monitoring out to someone who maybe takes calls for ATT, car insurance quotes, television promotions.. I think you get my idea.. they offer lower prices for monitoring because they can, because the quality isnt high. I have been with 3 major alarm companies, and I can honestly say the best all around operation ive seen is ADT's.
ADT has multiple US monitoring centers. They also have monitoring in other countries, which means they also have monitoring centers in other countries. If you are a US customer, you'll speak to representatives in the US and the monitoring facilities your panel dials are in the US.
I think I jacked up that last post. They do have service in other countries, which is why the have monitoring centers in other countries. But there are multiple US based monitoring stations.
actually. its up to the customer to decide HOW they want the alarms dispatched. The customer has the option to be called first, but many in the case of a fire signal opt that the fire department is called right away. Its not that the company doesnt bother, its just they are following the customers orders!

Do you work for ADT? The way you defend the company, I'd be willing to assume that you do.
