Powell cites a long list of reasons, and Juan acknowledges, why Powell would would not support the GOP this election cycle. Juan, however, dismisses all of that to say that Powell's reasons were mostly about race? It seems more racist to me for someone to assume Powell incapable of making a thoughtful choice, even when he gives a thoughtful explaination.

On top of offering a reasoned argument, it was very visible that Colin Powell was torn about the direction that his party has taken and that his decision didn't come lightly. If you couldn't tell that, you clearly lack not only analytical intelligence but also social intelligence. There was no bases for attributing motives other than what was said. So why is Juan Williams an expert on the inner motives of Colin Powell? Just because he's black? Only FNC's racist audience would think so.

Even if there is a motive to have it be about race, it EASILY NEVER had to go there because it's about something a lot more obvious. Powell did put the reasons for endorsing Obama quite eloquently, but the essence of the reason that he gave was a no brainer to any intelligent American. It's about COMPETENCE and GOOD JUDGMENT. Who the hell are these talking heads to question the "patriotism" of Powell? If you say that Powell is endorsing Obama primarily because Obama is black, you are essentially saying that Powell is putting their shared racial status "first" and his country's prosperity and security "second."
