what size tank do u have all those fish in bro? beautiful tank and they all seem to love you with that camera in your hand as well as get along great too!
Nice tank!!! i want to add other fish in my tank as well. So far i have 1 pleco, 2 ottos, 7 ghost shrimps , 3 mystery snail, 7 gold fish. BTW 2 of my gold fish are like 6 inches long, pleco is like 7 inches, 1 otto is like 5 inches. I wanna get angel fish, and mollies; is it posible? and should i add pinch of salt or no and will it affect my goldfish?
@snotbog1 ok : ( haha! good answer !!! i thought you were gonna be like shut up dude you're totally retrard! and i'd be like no way dude you're totally retard, and then you'd be like na ah you're totally retard!.. and i expected that to continue for several months and then i'd say you're nasty and then you'd say no way you're nasty then i'd be like.... well you get the picture! i recently aquired a fish tank (nothing like yours really!) can you recommend some nice fishies for me? : )
@snotbog1 yeah i bought neon tetras, silver tip tetras, glass cats and corydoras. its a big tank tho 260 litres so some room left yet. and ideas for me?? :)
Love your tank! nice to see someone else break the rules successfully, half of the advice about not mixing fish, must be written by non fish keepers! Im off out to buy some angels and ciclids for my tropical tank, as youve just proved, if you start them all off together, they can get on just fine! Thanks for sharing your beautiful fish and tank!!
Whoa, I should have responded earlier to you. Please keep in mind that I bought very peaceful cichlids, not Jack Dempseys or Red Terrors. Hope you did't make tat same mistake.
@snotbog1 Almost! Fish shop had neither so got a pair of golden gouramis, so far theyve wiped out shoal of 7 harlequins, 1 hatchet and a red tailed shark! Think il leave the cichlids alone. Iv got pair of dwarf blue, and pair of honey red dwarf gouramis whom the larger golds are letting clean them. Also have a guppy only tank, as the golds discovered they could suck the guppy fry outa the breeding tank, totally facinating to watch. The few tetras that are left are quick enough to get away! Thanks.
I also forgot to mention, I like your tank, for some reason I can not tell what looks good, I will look at them at the pet store and want mine to look like that but never do because the price of bogwood. =(
Oh well i still buy alot of fish from petsmart and they never have a problem but i never bought any other type of animal so i think it is ok! other than the other animals maybe
Thanks, I need to do some work for my dad before I can get some cash, but would there be anything to do with my food? Because I got this arowana food and every time I put it in, the water gets murky where I put it. I guess me and my dad will have to do more water changes... =)
Hi, I am 14 and I bought my own 55-gallon fish tank. I got it at garage sale. (New, with filter, and heater) for only 25$!!! Right now it is cloudy... My dad drove me to the fish store to ask the guy whats wrong. He says you need water changes. Me and my dad did it and the tank was clean for about 5 days then is cloudy again. I have spent so much of my own money on the fish listed below and I do not want them to die.
-Arowana, Red-Tailed Silver Dollars(x2), Cichlid(x3), don't know what type...
Did you cycle the tank? If not. your fish could be in danger. Go to the fish store immediately and buy an ammonia and a nitrate test kit. You can purchase bacteria to help. Ultimately water changes are best. Lots of them too, until water ammonia and nitrate subsides. Make sure you get a good water treatment for new water as well. I'll help with spesific products if you need it. Googe freshwater new tank cycle for more help
Started the tank back in '07 with all the fish you see in the video and with an exeption of a few small fish, they are all still alive and well. Thanks for you comment though. You speak with gusto and passion even the I don't understand most of it.
P.S. As far as me being a "black boy", please keep racial slurs off of my blogs. I'm a strong supporter of "our" 1st amendment. So don't make me edit your comments. O.K.?
I bought several black myleus! They cost me 10 bucks each they were on sale from a private seller. My silver dollars and Tinfoil barbs like them sooo much! They keep nibbling on my pictus catfish fins. Any suggestion to make them stop?
Do you mean Black Pacu. If so, these fish grow huge and are way too big for most home aquariums. Try lettuce/spinach; also, better hiding places. A temperature change or rearranging ornaments in tank can help. Adding a SA cichlid can be effective but is risky because it may just add more problems. I've had cichlids kind of act as the tank sheriff; disciplining other fishes that tend to be fin nippers. (funny). My Geophagus loves to chase the silver dollars who often quarrel with each-other.
The small fish have been doing quite well. Generally large fish don't "attack" small fish; they eat them. The small fish have been doing fine except just recently I've noticed my bumble-bee population dropping off. They all thrived for a year though....... Neons are still doing great. I bought 10 almost a year ago and I now have 8.
I've seen one eaten only because he was swimming weird in mid-water and drited into the angel "breed zone". I bought a dozen or so a year ago and over half of them are still doing just fine.
Nice fish, nice jazz. I noticed your list has a decent Bumblebee Goby group. I was talking to the fish guy at the local Petco and he, and the book he referenced, said they were brackish water fish. What has been your luck with them and what type of water are you running?
I've had great luck with the gobys. I originally bought 2 or 3 and they faired so well I bought more. I presently have 8 that have been hangin' with fish 20x their size for about 9 months.
Water: Originally I added about a teaspoon for every 5 gallons but have since upped that to a heaping tablespoon/5 gallons. I've had a bacteria issue with one of the silver dollars and more salt helps, although the loaches weren't particularly pleased. It's a challenging set-up that I would not recommend.
I got a huge variety of fish so I feed a huge variety of food. Only food I stay away from is live. (too risky). The main thing with goldfish is overfeeding. These guys will not stop until the food's gone. "New Life", "Hikari", "Ocean Nutrition" and "Tetra" are all good brands. I'd stay away from cheaper brands like "Wardleys", "Topfin" and especially "Hartz" which is junk. But goldfish will eat and probably thrive on anything.
Thank you. The video was shot with a webcam that I just purchased and am still learning how to use. Had trouble with the uploading because I went over 10 minutes and had to edit using movie maker. I want to use our video camera but haven't quite figured out how to convert the files to a youtube friendly format.
