The banana boat incident at :35 was funny, but I felt that it was unjust that they didn't stop the clock and start over, especially with the physical challenge only having a 15-second time limit.

@weatherdan882002 I agree. I think it was a mistake in how the banana was wheeled out from backstage - you can tell that they're trying to push it forward and the wheels were just turned wrong. However, I honestly believe the producers thought it was the contestants' mistake, in which case Marc and the producers shouldn't have been helping them at all. Just one of those things that we notice as fans that could never have been caught as easily while on the set!

I agree that the 80s and 90s were better than today's Nick programming by a long shot. But then, our parents grew up on Saturday morning cartoons and looked at Double Dare as disgusting, useless television. So, I mean, keep it all in perspective!

That being said, kids today are dumbed down, celebrity-obsessed, and impatient. Even Double Dare 2000 and My Family's Got GUTS couldn't hold their attention for more than two seasons. I doubt the original show would interest them; it's too intelligent!

I agree whole-heartedly that Double Dare should make a comeback. To answer your question, Double Dare 2000 basically suffered from overkill; they taped too many episodes in too short of an amount of time, and they had no way to make the show grow; they started off too huge!

MiltownPunkette21 - what "country based theme"? The show was themed around the new millennium! But I agree that DD2K was not up to par with the original show... mostly because the higher-ups were trying to make it perfect and didn't just let it flow naturally like Summers and crew did.

Correct - the saxophones had a very 80s/90s feel to them, so they took them out for DD2K.

I was a contestant on the show when I was in the 7th grade, here in Philly. And I lost the copy I had way back in the 80's.

Doubl Dare was an exciting game show. A good combonation of brains & brawn required. The gameplay didn't get repetititive it just got better. Marc Summers was an awsome host, unlike other kids game show host he acted just like them while maintaining maturity of his own age; unlike Mike O'Malley. The Obstacle Course was always exciting because messes were made, prizes were won, & fun was had. These moments here symbolized how the cn have bloppers & still keep the show going. Funny they are.

Wow, thanks! Glad you think that highly of it. My only gripe (and reason it could never be used for a real episode) is that the Double Dare logo never appears in it... LOL! That and it's a bit too long. And I agree that it's a shame they aren't making any more... at least right now...

Fox's version of Family Double Dare was taped as a full series for Fox's prime time slot in the summer of 1988... Unfortunately, when Fox wanted the producers to have more celebrity episodes, they canned the show after 13 episodes. I have 3 or so of these on DVD thanks to the tape trading circuit, taped from their original airings on Fox.

Nick GaS is no longer in existence. It has been replaced with The N, a 24-hour version of the former prime-time block on Noggin, which is now 24-hour Nick Jr. programming. However, with the upcoming revival of GUTS, it is possible that a Double Dare revival could follow!

I've posted other Double Dare clips on here and had them taken down, and I don't know if it's worth risking the personal videos I have posted to post clips of a TV show. If you want the clips, PM me and I can set up some kind of a tape trade, I've got full episodes on tape and DVD and it's a perfectly legal and safe way to see the clips you want.
