The banana boat incident at :35 was funny, but I felt that it was unjust that they didn't stop the clock and start over, especially with the physical challenge only having a 15-second time limit.
@weatherdan882002 I agree. I think it was a mistake in how the banana was wheeled out from backstage - you can tell that they're trying to push it forward and the wheels were just turned wrong. However, I honestly believe the producers thought it was the contestants' mistake, in which case Marc and the producers shouldn't have been helping them at all. Just one of those things that we notice as fans that could never have been caught as easily while on the set!
There will be a 25th anniversary special posted in my business account. The video should be released sometime close to October 6th, 2011 (dd's 25th anniversary!) look out for it!
Very interesting -- but what "business" account? I don't recommend using copyrighted material in any kind of project that's directly affiliated with an official business-related YouTube channel.
loved this show, always had me thinkin', no way, there's no way i'm goin' on that show, nick arcade, though, to challenge that wizard! i'd take him on hands down, and the anouncer was hot! trust me, she was hot! what's she doing now.
this is went nickelodeon did not suck and this is went nickelodeon was worth watching it a had good nicktoons, good game show and good comedy show back from nickelodeon 90s were so happy and excited
but look what kids watch today on nickelodeon today it's sucks now
I feel bad for kids today kids today have no idea how nickelodeon from the 90s were super happy and excited
wish double dare is back and the same host cause if that happen every kids will like it better than they watch today
I agree that the 80s and 90s were better than today's Nick programming by a long shot. But then, our parents grew up on Saturday morning cartoons and looked at Double Dare as disgusting, useless television. So, I mean, keep it all in perspective!
That being said, kids today are dumbed down, celebrity-obsessed, and impatient. Even Double Dare 2000 and My Family's Got GUTS couldn't hold their attention for more than two seasons. I doubt the original show would interest them; it's too intelligent!
Thanks Miltown! Unfortunately this is just a one-time thing I did on the fly when I found the clips on my computer; they were actually going to be part of a 2005 documentary that never happened... But with the success of this video, who knows, you might see something new in the future!
who thinks they should make another double dare? i mean come on they have guts back out now. i know its gonna be a short promo but come on. maybe call it collosal double dare or something. i know marc summers is on food network now and i dont know what happened to the 2000 host but why wont nickolodeon bring out double dare again? just a thought.
I agree whole-heartedly that Double Dare should make a comeback. To answer your question, Double Dare 2000 basically suffered from overkill; they taped too many episodes in too short of an amount of time, and they had no way to make the show grow; they started off too huge!
Nooooo way. To me "Double Dare 2000" just SUCKED, straight up. That bad country-based theme, the sucky host, the suck obstacle course....it all just wasn't the same.
MiltownPunkette21 - what "country based theme"? The show was themed around the new millennium! But I agree that DD2K was not up to par with the original show... mostly because the higher-ups were trying to make it perfect and didn't just let it flow naturally like Summers and crew did.
Doubl Dare was an exciting game show. A good combonation of brains & brawn required. The gameplay didn't get repetititive it just got better. Marc Summers was an awsome host, unlike other kids game show host he acted just like them while maintaining maturity of his own age; unlike Mike O'Malley. The Obstacle Course was always exciting because messes were made, prizes were won, & fun was had. These moments here symbolized how the cn have bloppers & still keep the show going. Funny they are.
Wow, thanks! Glad you think that highly of it. My only gripe (and reason it could never be used for a real episode) is that the Double Dare logo never appears in it... LOL! That and it's a bit too long. And I agree that it's a shame they aren't making any more... at least right now...
Fox's version of Family Double Dare was taped as a full series for Fox's prime time slot in the summer of 1988... Unfortunately, when Fox wanted the producers to have more celebrity episodes, they canned the show after 13 episodes. I have 3 or so of these on DVD thanks to the tape trading circuit, taped from their original airings on Fox.
I just realized... I don't even have any clips of Fox's version of Family Double Dare on here! All of the Family Double Dare clips were from the seasons taped in Orlando and aired on Nickelodeon in the 1990s!
GUTS is coming back on the air! This time it's on Nick At Nite and it's called "My Family's Got Guts." In fact it's taping in the same Florida studio as the original show from the 90s!
Nick GaS is no longer in existence. It has been replaced with The N, a 24-hour version of the former prime-time block on Noggin, which is now 24-hour Nick Jr. programming. However, with the upcoming revival of GUTS, it is possible that a Double Dare revival could follow!
LMAO amen to that! Thanks to Double Dare, I grew up with a totally different view on making tacos... I always tried to roll the tortilla as quickly as possible!
You wouldn't by any chance have the "Celebrity Double Dare" episode with Jerry Supiran of "Small Wonder" fame, would you? I have about gone crazy trying to get a copy of that show. I even called Nickelodeon and told them I was in the audience as a kid and wanted a tape. They wouldn't do it.
LOL you raise an interesting point, even though most of the props were made by the staff... This was one of the many props that simply was not built properly to withstand the rigorous energy that contestants would inevitably put into their tasks! :-D
YEAH, but still, can you post them all on here? I want to see them fully and bring back good memories to my sister who ahven't seen the show. Plus, Would like to hear the sounds as well. I'm asking in request and nicely.
I will see what I can do. Keep in mind it's considered a copyright infringement to do so. I've posted other Double Dare clips on here and had them taken down, and I don't know if it's worth risking the personal videos I have posted to post clips of a TV show. If you want the clips, PM me and I can set up some kind of a tape trade, I've got full episodes on tape and DVD and it's a perfectly legal and safe way to see the clips you want.
Well... sure. I like to see the clips of the ones you have on there- DD GRAPE JUICE CHALLENGE, SSDD TOSS-UP, FOX FAMILY DD & NICK'S FDD OBSTACLE COURSE. Plus, any way you can PM them on my account?
No. You need to PM me about this. And be patient. I don't have all the time in the world to post these things. I'm a full-time college student with a life outside of YouTube, the only reason I posted this is because it's a personal creation of mine. Like I said in my comments, PM me and I will work out a way of getting you some stuff on tape or DVD if you want it, but I'm not going to risk my account so that I can post unauthorized clips of the show for you.

caal1028a 3 years ago
You're right, it was supposed to be based around the millennium, but to me, that theme sounded like some twangy, country mess.
MiltownPunkette21 3 years ago
Miltown - The original theme has that sort of twangy feel to it too ... and I think DD2K was going for "surfer," not "southern" :-P
caal1028a 3 years ago
You really think so? I just think "Rock 'n' roll! Let's go win!" every time I hear the original theme. :-)
MiltownPunkette21 3 years ago
When I heard the remix theme... I didn't hear any of the saxophone bits in it.
BMANBLAKNBLU 2 years ago
Correct - the saxophones had a very 80s/90s feel to them, so they took them out for DD2K.
caal1028a 2 years ago
Can any tell if I could get my hands on a copy of an original show from the 80's...
I was a contestant on the show when I was in the 7th grade, here in Philly. And I lost the copy I had way back in the 80's.
So it would be nice to see my tall ass ride that tri cycle across that slippery stage again
If so can you let me know, Thanks!
