I have tried to get into EvE three times. THREE bloody times over the course of 4 years. It just goes to show you what a steep learning curve it has. It also goes to show youits great appeal. It's the only MMO I've ever come back to.
They are basically indicators of who is friendly and who isn't, you can set them yourself but basically Green/Blue = Friends and Corporation/Alliance members. Yellow / Red = Enemy, pirate or someone you are at war with / in combat with.
When players start becoming pirates they lose security rating, so you will find these players will turn either yellow or red with a skull in the box.
@Neva9999 Makes me really happy to read these sorts of comments, there's a brilliant game hidden under all that frustration and confusion. Glad you watched the whole video, quite a feat! :P

@strych88 I'm currently moving to Europe so been a little busy with that for the moment. @GEWinterswolf lol - well thanks for that! Although I've got a feeling that I might actually have to concede defeat to my nerdy male friend with this game; I shall persevere a little longer, as it might at least improve my "standing" in his eyes as to how long I survived it.. ;)
@Bloomscounty In all honesty, once you get over that initial obstacle of "wtf am I meant to be doing" you start to see things a lot more clearly. You also begin to understand things a lot quicker and that's when the game sucks you in and before you know it you're hooked. :D
You and your friend will be spending a lot of time together i'd say, in-game.

Hope to maybe see you about sometime ;)
@JohanKrieger i'm looking into properly starting eve, just want the backing of a Corp before I do so I know there'll be a place where I can get advice & help.
@MikeWoottonUK Search for Interstellar Corp, very helpful guys who have groups of people to help you get started on whatever area of the game you are interested in. Helps break the learning curve.
Also was very disappointing when I thought I was able to walk in stations and interact with players face to face fast forward year latter I have close all my accounts sold for isk Aloing so
I thought dust 514 was going to tie in the eve some how ????
@dschlickone Being a player-driven game, you should never go in to it thinking you can play alone. This game is meant for groups and corps, really it isn't hard to find one at all so i've never seen that as a problem. I'm going to go in to jump clones and more of the gritty stuff in future videos, this one was just a very basic overview :)
DUST 514 is going to tie-in with EVE in real-time, the money players make on their PS3 on DUST will come from EVE corps / players. It is tied in very deeply.
Great video I have been playing for 3 years on and off now,,,The only thing that you forgot was

@SnookiedLuvsU Also due to suicide ganks, can flipping, tricks, scams, pirating etc in general. There's many reasons for high-sec combat. :) Anyone who says high-sec combat is non-existant or only due to wars has obviously not racked up many hours in EVE.. or they haven't played with me.
@atlas42185 A lot of people get ganked in high sec. It depends what you're flying and what's in your cargo hold. If it's a smaller ship transporting something very expensive - there is a good chance someone will sacrifice their ship in order to get your lewt.
@Aang6678 I just wanted to show targeting, the ui etc for combat. I took my tackle-fitted Rifter out as it was the closest ship I had, the low slots, rigs etc all subsidise armor for speed. It's really not meant for combat, just getting through bubble camps and cheap, lightning fast tackling for PvP roams I attend.
But yes, you are correct about running missions easily in a Rifter, mine just wasn't fitted for it heh. Next video is about missions / ratting, i'll take a proper fit out then.
@TiberiusBane No problem :) thanks for watching. I'll have more (better) videos real soon that will go in to more detail about the various careers, activities etc, so stay tuned!
If you're watching this an don't know about EVE, if nothing else, skip to 10:00 if you're thinking about closing the video. The game is not just dots. It's actually more graphically advanced than BF3.
@SnookiedLuvsU Yeah it wasn't until I uploaded that I finished recording that it occurred to me how long I spent talking over the map overview. Hopefully it doesn't put anyone off, I probably should have mentioned what people were looking at before going on a massive rant :P
@PDXOutdoors Yeah he simply needs to turn up volume in his Editing Program: look for something like normalize to 0, means the highest peak is set to the maximum volume without clipping. That usually levels the audio volume to a pretty standard level, as you would expect it.
@Fuffzehn Yeah sorry about that, the issue was the Razer Headphones I use. Any higher than that volume (which was increased in Sony Vegas as it was quieter) and it was just audible static the wholeway through. Painful open-air headset, but it's been fixed now I can use my mic at normal levels so future videos will be much louder :)
@Dophoofd Yeah, I originally thought "oh i'll just put together a quick vid". Turned out to require a bit of planning and 54 mins -.- haha.
Heh, yeah my introduction to the game and my first corp was 2 consecutive War-Decs. I was quickly shown how to tackle and thrown in to the middle of it :P So much fun.
Game is great, like a true wild west but it doesn't have to be if want to stick to soloing in hi sec. Game really opens up once you find right corp. Most of issues that some ppl name here are gone. Costs spread out, cooperation and most of all fun increases dramatically. Of course if you keep complaining about game instead of leaving and finding new one then you are either a hypocrite or a troll.
Nothing special, but lets me play max graphics. I run my alt also on a second monitor (dual 24") but that toon is generally on lowest settings to minimize impact on my main. All runs without a hitch though, seems to Fraps okay as well :)
@Kaffekane EVE is very much so one of those games where you only get out what you put in. I'd definitely say it's worth jumping back in, sign up with an active corp if you aren't already sitting in one and then put your hand up for whatever they are doing.
The most fun I have had in this game came from saying yes to doing whatever people in my corp are doing (if they are willing to take me), the things you see and do can sometimes be more amazing than you would of originally thought.
@GEWinterswolf I used to mostly run high-sec mining back and forth (killed/looted any rats that bugged me) and asked questions that for the most part were happily answered, if not at least directing me towards doing my homework about the game around the forums without being all "RTFM" about it.
I would love to get back into EVE, and possibly join a player-run corp, but I don't have the means just yet. When I do, this is one of the games that I'll look at.
the whole, "I make billions and have never bought a plex" is a lie also.
Back to skills for second: you need about 50 million skill points to be proficient.
most players I knew in game, had 50 million skill ponts in GUNNERY alone.
you can get about one skill point per second or so, So how long is it going to take you count to 50 million?
the people being hostile and rude to my posts, and not even acknowledging the truth about EVE are the kind who can't wait to meet a new player, like you...
@halechad I just wonder if you are one of them that live in high sec all of thier game life. And by the looks of it you totaly ignore the fact that by risking all, you make tons of money. There is a much better chance for a +100mil site to spawn in low and null sec, and you cry a lot about that u need to risk money too make money. If you don't like doing that have fun mining with a Hulk / Covetor / Retriever in 1,0. If you don't like that, why are you still playing the game?
@halechad Just last week a small group of my corp members, some newer members, entered a wormhole for a few hours and left with 1.5 Billion ISK. You can make enough for a PLEX just by doing 1 incursion, the majority of my corp and a lot of people in EVE pop PLEX on their account like it's nothing. You can get to that point easily, if you join a decent corp and participate in the sandbox world that is EVE Online, not just float around high-sec selling basic ores :)
@GEWinterswolf then you need to make a video that tells people how to play EVE:
1. Hide behind a corp because your toon has no skills...
2. hope they don't give a shit that you have no skills and can't fly a damn thing... Frigate 5, electronics 5, cloaking 4, electronic upgrades 5, covert ops 3, torp skills, fitting skills, just takes a *FEW* months
3. hope they know they need to give you your skill books, cyberware, clone upgrade, jumpclone, and reimburse any and *ALL* loses...
@GEWinterswolf also, I have been in low sec, Hakonen, and No Sec with sollar wind corp (goonswarm federation) I do know how to play. I do know that the high stakes is where the money is at...
but for everyone that wins at russian roulette, how many loose?
@halechad Goonswarm openly took in noobs to use as cannon fodder. You generalize new players and make assumptions that in reality only apply to a small group of lazy players who will never make progress in this game anyways.
This is a niche game, if you don't like it, don't play it. There are plenty of us who have no problems finding our way throughout the world and we're happy to remain here and enjoy our time :)
Nuff said. EVE is not a game for everyone, not everyone will be good at it.
I have an eight month toon. I have been playing for those eight months. However, I have actually been playing for over four years now! I DO know this game inside and out. the whole, "your retarded" commentary you see here, is the kind of crap you are going to get from others in EVE online.
thew whole "just fly a Battle ship" comment is spectacularly impaired, as one must first have frigate skills, then cruiser skills, and then start Battle ship skills... good grief.
@halechad reading your past comments, seems like you suck at eve and are mad about it. Ive been playing for 2 years, im in nullsec in an awesome alliance. I have 2b isk (never bought a plex) i have ships spread out over the whole universe. Whenever i need ISK i go rat in anomalies or do some incursions.. oh did i mention i play for free?? Yeah, i represent the majority of eve players, you Halechad represent the newbs that get ganked in high sec. QQ more NOOB
last but not least, the designers have recently added a virtual store so you can play "dress-up-dolly" in three of your favorite colors; Charcoal grey, Poop tan, and olive drab! clothing peices for your imaginary character require you to purchase plex, then use that to purchase AUR, then use that to purchase an item. meaning a full ensemble will cost you:
Shoes+Pants+Shirt+jacket+Accessory= hey, only 5 plex. that's only $100 dollars, for immaginary clothes in a "SPACESHIP" game, feel the power!
2. YOUR TOON IS RETARDED BY VIRTUE OF GAME DESIGN.
3. YOU HAVE NO WAY OF MAKING ENOUGH IN GAME CURRENCY To cover the costs of regular losses (I.e. getting ganked).
4. One plex, starts at 20$ or so. If you buy in bulk say 6 or 32 plex, you can get a 5% disscount!
5. You are going to Die alot, and your skill as a (haw haw) "Pilot" has nothing to do with you, but everything to do with how long you have been *PAYING*...
@halechad You clearly have never played the game for any significant amount of time. I'm still a noob and I'm able to make enough money to cover expenses for small ship PvP - and that's with playing for about 1 or 2 hours per day.
And the skill system is so much better because I don't have to actually play to be leveling up. I haven't played for 4 days and I'm still leveling.
You sound like a carebear who got into the harsh world of EVE and cried his way back to WoW.
@AdhocHoopla I find it's best to completely ignore these sort of comments, like CCP have said many times, their game isn't for everyone and they are proud of that. Some people just "don't get it" like a grandfather doesn't get his grandchilds music.
EVE ONLINE...? did I mention this is a PAY to PLAY game? okay, did I also mention that they have this convient little thing called "plex"? where you can buy in game currency, to buy a mulit million Dollar Ship, Modules, Rigs, Weapons, Ammo, and cyberware? because there is no way in hell you will ever beable to afford a damn thing without it, you noob...
so, now. why are all the ships "glass cannons" that break so easily?
Bang! your dead, again. I gues you'll need more plex, NOOB.
EVE ONLINE...? has the ugliest ships in a sci-fi game and no, you don't pilot them with a stick. Your piloting is all based on your "skills" (I.e. how long you have had an active account). Your guns and weapons, you don't shoot them, again that is all based on your characters "skills"... So If your character with 2 months of game time is getting one shoted by seven year veterans for "the Lulz"... remember, it's all because *YOU* don't have any skill...
EVE ONLINE...? is a "sandbox" meaning, *EVERYONE* and *ANYONE* can; lie, cheat, steal, rape, and kill your character, and at the first opportunity they will. By the BY, In EVE online if you have worked really hard to have a mining barge, some cyberware, etc.- if some jerk can "Pod Kill" you (a fun sport for all) you lose everything. you wake up, in a clone with NO SHIP, NO CYBERWARE. and for real, "Mining"? more like a "kill me please sign".
EVE ONLINE...? is masochism. First as a new player, you need to realize that your clone is freshly baked without any skills. You learn only one skill at a time, and they do not make a difference between game time and real. it's a good thing you can keep learning while offline, because you need an active account for two years to have enough skills at level 5 to be able to do one thing right.
@RinkyDink965 Thanks! A lot more nice people watching this video than I thought. The mic is a bit terrible but should be replaced before my next video :)
@Paintchk218 I hope it does encourage more people to try out the game :) EVE can always use more members, just, more of the 'right' members. It is after all, not a game for everyone.
@Rufio80 No problem mate :) I'll be doing regular episodes that progressively touch on different areas in the game so be sure to check back, and if you are ever stuck on anything feel free to message me / comment.
@TheSmalHobbit Yeah, it's VERY different now to how it used to be. The space stations have captains quarters now as you can see, and eventually space stations will be complete explorable structures with local communal areas etc. That is in the works but for now they are just working on fleshing out and polishing old systems and features.
@crazedimp321 No problem :) like I said in the video, once you get in to the game you will find it isn't really hard, just an overhwelming amount of things to do and see.
@emocromatosi1 Yeah, issue with the Mic. Will have to pick up a better set for recording, Razer headphones are great sound quality but seem to lack when it comes to recording.

@PDXOutdoors Yeah sorry about that! Will be fixed in future videos :)
GEWinterswolf 2 months ago 3
@PDXOutdoors Yeah he simply needs to turn up volume in his Editing Program: look for something like normalize to 0, means the highest peak is set to the maximum volume without clipping. That usually levels the audio volume to a pretty standard level, as you would expect it.
Fuffzehn 1 month ago
@Fuffzehn Yeah sorry about that, the issue was the Razer Headphones I use. Any higher than that volume (which was increased in Sony Vegas as it was quieter) and it was just audible static the wholeway through. Painful open-air headset, but it's been fixed now I can use my mic at normal levels so future videos will be much louder :)

What kind of computer and video card use??
eveonlinepvp 2 months ago 2
@eveonlinepvp
Win7-64bit
Intel i5 760 2.8GHz
4GB DDR3 RAM
Radeon HD 6790 running at 2.8GB of video memory.
Nothing special, but lets me play max graphics. I run my alt also on a second monitor (dual 24") but that toon is generally on lowest settings to minimize impact on my main. All runs without a hitch though, seems to Fraps okay as well :)

Interesting. I've hopped into EVE off-and-on, but never did get as into it as I could have. Maybe I should give this game more time when I can again.
Kaffekane 2 months ago
@Kaffekane EVE is very much so one of those games where you only get out what you put in. I'd definitely say it's worth jumping back in, sign up with an active corp if you aren't already sitting in one and then put your hand up for whatever they are doing.
The most fun I have had in this game came from saying yes to doing whatever people in my corp are doing (if they are willing to take me), the things you see and do can sometimes be more amazing than you would of originally thought.
GEWinterswolf 2 months ago
@GEWinterswolf I used to mostly run high-sec mining back and forth (killed/looted any rats that bugged me) and asked questions that for the most part were happily answered, if not at least directing me towards doing my homework about the game around the forums without being all "RTFM" about it.
I would love to get back into EVE, and possibly join a player-run corp, but I don't have the means just yet. When I do, this is one of the games that I'll look at.
Kaffekane 2 months ago
the whole, "I make billions and have never bought a plex" is a lie also.
Back to skills for second: you need about 50 million skill points to be proficient.
most players I knew in game, had 50 million skill ponts in GUNNERY alone.
you can get about one skill point per second or so, So how long is it going to take you count to 50 million?
the people being hostile and rude to my posts, and not even acknowledging the truth about EVE are the kind who can't wait to meet a new player, like you...
halechad 2 months ago
@halechad I just wonder if you are one of them that live in high sec all of thier game life. And by the looks of it you totaly ignore the fact that by risking all, you make tons of money. There is a much better chance for a +100mil site to spawn in low and null sec, and you cry a lot about that u need to risk money too make money. If you don't like doing that have fun mining with a Hulk / Covetor / Retriever in 1,0. If you don't like that, why are you still playing the game?
1337seeker 2 months ago
@halechad Just last week a small group of my corp members, some newer members, entered a wormhole for a few hours and left with 1.5 Billion ISK. You can make enough for a PLEX just by doing 1 incursion, the majority of my corp and a lot of people in EVE pop PLEX on their account like it's nothing. You can get to that point easily, if you join a decent corp and participate in the sandbox world that is EVE Online, not just float around high-sec selling basic ores :)
GEWinterswolf 2 months ago 2
@GEWinterswolf then you need to make a video that tells people how to play EVE:
1. Hide behind a corp because your toon has no skills...
2. hope they don't give a shit that you have no skills and can't fly a damn thing... Frigate 5, electronics 5, cloaking 4, electronic upgrades 5, covert ops 3, torp skills, fitting skills, just takes a *FEW* months
3. hope they know they need to give you your skill books, cyberware, clone upgrade, jumpclone, and reimburse any and *ALL* loses...
halechad 2 months ago
@GEWinterswolf also, I have been in low sec, Hakonen, and No Sec with sollar wind corp (goonswarm federation) I do know how to play. I do know that the high stakes is where the money is at...
but for everyone that wins at russian roulette, how many loose?
halechad 2 months ago
@halechad Goonswarm openly took in noobs to use as cannon fodder. You generalize new players and make assumptions that in reality only apply to a small group of lazy players who will never make progress in this game anyways.
This is a niche game, if you don't like it, don't play it. There are plenty of us who have no problems finding our way throughout the world and we're happy to remain here and enjoy our time :)
Nuff said. EVE is not a game for everyone, not everyone will be good at it.

I have an eight month toon. I have been playing for those eight months. However, I have actually been playing for over four years now! I DO know this game inside and out. the whole, "your retarded" commentary you see here, is the kind of crap you are going to get from others in EVE online.
thew whole "just fly a Battle ship" comment is spectacularly impaired, as one must first have frigate skills, then cruiser skills, and then start Battle ship skills... good grief.
halechad 2 months ago

Shoes+Pants+Shirt+jacket+Accessory= hey, only 5 plex. that's only $100 dollars, for immaginary clothes in a "SPACESHIP" game, feel the power!
halechad 2 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
So here's the run down:
1. YOU MUST PAY TO PLAY. 15$ a month.
5. You are going to Die alot, and your skill as a (haw haw) "Pilot" has nothing to do with you, but everything to do with how long you have been *PAYING*...
halechad 2 months ago
@halechad You clearly have never played the game for any significant amount of time. I'm still a noob and I'm able to make enough money to cover expenses for small ship PvP - and that's with playing for about 1 or 2 hours per day.
And the skill system is so much better because I don't have to actually play to be leveling up. I haven't played for 4 days and I'm still leveling.
You sound like a carebear who got into the harsh world of EVE and cried his way back to WoW.
oogabubchub 2 months ago
@oogabubchub And I laughed. All the Yodu De.
Kaffekane 2 months ago
@halechad
1) Unless you earn enough ISK to PLEX.
2) Wtf?
3) That's bullshit unless you're retarded in which case EVE won't miss you.
4) Congrats.
5) Again, not unless you're retarded.
Making money in EVE is easy as hell. All you need is a BC to kill rats in 0.0 and you're sorted.
AdhocHoopla 2 months ago
@AdhocHoopla I find it's best to completely ignore these sort of comments, like CCP have said many times, their game isn't for everyone and they are proud of that. Some people just "don't get it" like a grandfather doesn't get his grandchilds music.
GEWinterswolf 2 months ago 2
@GEWinterswolf A perfect analogy ^^
AdhocHoopla 2 months ago 2
@halechad This is wrong. PvP is skill based and it can be a ton of fun. I dont PLEX or rat, just kill people who are stupid or think they are good.
jediknight269 2 months ago
@halechad So here's the rundown:
1. You're an idiot.
2. You're an idiot.

5. You're an idiot.

I gues you'll need more plex, NOOB.
halechad 2 months ago
@halechad Here's a hint for you. Use only what you can lose. I have never had buy a PLEX by using this simple hint.
1337seeker 2 months ago

By the BY, In EVE online if you have worked really hard to have a mining barge, some cyberware, etc.- if some jerk can "Pod Kill" you (a fun sport for all) you lose everything. you wake up, in a clone with NO SHIP, NO CYBERWARE. and for real, "Mining"? more like a "kill me please sign".
halechad 2 months ago
@halechad This is exactly why EVE isn't the game for everyone, but hey, I love it that way ;)
GEWinterswolf 2 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
EVE ONLINE...? is masochism. First as a new player, you need to realize that your clone is freshly baked without any skills. You learn only one skill at a time, and they do not make a difference between game time and real. it's a good thing you can keep learning while offline, because you need an active account for two years to have enough skills at level 5 to be able to do one thing right.
halechad 2 months ago
@halechad I disagree, I have seen 1 week old players take down players who have been playing for 2 years.
