haha its funny about the things you are saying about aprilia's engine ^^ I got an 2006, 5.5. I changed ALL the gaskets to Honda's special gasket (threebond 1207B) before driving, and the bike eats every bike I have raced, and my bike doesnt need anything else but oil and oil filter. Ofcourse, when you drive race you need to overhaul something in a while, but thats alike for ALL racing bikes, but to freeride on the roads you only need to change oil, after 9-10k km you need to have a big service
Ultra, are you nuts or do you just like the way they taste?! Most any squid, such as yourself, will ride much more comfortably on a smaller displacement (slower) bike. This comfort level will make for a much quicker ride down most any stretch of road worth riding. This means one with corners and includes a race track, not a drag strip. That's not racing. Btw, you saw my mentor and diet coke video?
what kind of input are you guys giving? everyone knows motor is not what makes you fast. that is why a guy on a drz got round them. you are the same guys that buy the "gixdxerthou" instead of a bandit 400, which most would be able to ride faster on.
Problem here is a kid on a skateboard could've easily passed you both.
Which brings me to my question.. Didn't either of you LOOK at the video before you posted it? Even if you thought you were ripping it up out on the track, watching the video should've brought you back down to earth.. No shame in being slow..the shame comes when you post up a video on Youtube saying you guys were 'duking it out', when in fact you looked like a coupla old ladies 'duking it out' in their electric wheelchairs
@fusilikevin Maybe this video wasn't for you. Who cares. Two not fast guys on fun bikes having a good time, between these two, it was a battle. This isnt fucking Performance Bikes magazine, it's not a god damn shootout, if your looking for accurate test data, you won't find it. Unwad your panties and chill.
@GearNazi You are absolutely right. This shouldn't represent these bikes at their peak. It was more of a fun experience for my buddy and the guy on the SXV, at this track, on this day, at their skill levels to play with each other.
Also, Aprilia seems to have their faulty gaskets figured out now, so these engines are getting more reliable. I'd give it at least 7 laps now.
@TomGHowell Indeed it was. Goes to show that two slow people on a KTM 690 SMC and a Ape SXV are an even match but a crazy brit whos completely out of control on a DRZ can still bring it, ha. That guy actually got a talking to from the marshals for some of his passes that day. Stand up guy though, real crazed in the brain.
c'est pas trop drole ! in french ( my country ! ) traduction ! it's not funny ! gaaaazzzzzzzzzzzzzz !! lol !!!!!!

Aprilia and KTM both great bikes. Would like to own any one of them, but... WAY over priced. Still though, they are awesome bikes.

@SANSOOSON
Aprilia SXV 550, and a Kawi ZX10. Neither on the street, as both are race bikes.
