  • Extraordinary artist: gorgeous voice, perfect technique, wonderful phrasing. A true MASTER. Thanks so much, Onegin65, for posting!

  • where is the teaching for this voices...here in youtube there are many videos wich are showing singing tewchnic..but no one has the old italian techinc and style . no one!

because singing and speaking are closer than anyone thinks.

  • Phantastic voice! Unfortunately he didn't anything interesting in the recitativo which was a bit boring. Nevertheless a great singer with one of those rare great voices.

  • semplicemente perfetto...

laddove la musica è Arte diviene incontro con Dio

    ...

  • I'm in awe of this mans perfect cantabile.

  • Sadly, desappear another great opera singer, one of the last singing without microphone

  • An incredible singer. Not only the best Leporello through all time as frequently said in relation, but one of the best singers of all time.

  • @KuraiDomina Leporello? I think you meant Don Giovanni instead (with Ezio Pinza also)!

  • This is absolutely beautiful. Thank you Onegin65.

    RIP Cesare Siepi.

  • Cesare Sciepi-re emlékezzünk ezzel a gyönyörű áriával! Köszönöm!

  • perfect

  • This rendition is simply a MASTERCLASS, superb!!

  • grande voce, lignea, stagionata

  • MOnstruo!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for this wonderful post.

To critics: this should NOT be sung angrily like other basses, Siepi understands "prega, Maria, per me!" Why would some people like to hear him holler that sentence?

  • @minnie888444 In my country we call them, those who complain when someone actually understands something they don't, iggnorant. Siepi understands this piece, unlike so many people out there.

  • His perfect control of legato, articulation and homogenity of color leaves me in bewildered awe. Furthermore let us not forget that this aria is a moment of great pain and suffering. If Verdi writes more p,pp and ppp than f, there must be a reason. Cesare Siepi should be an inspiritation to all.

  • I perfectly agree with Xerkun and the rest. I believe there is no one can who truly loves music, be it a professional or not, can say that Cesare Siepi was not an extraordinary artist. To start with, I've personally never heard any colleague who can dominate his instrument as Mr. Siepi did, and believe there are many who would love to.

  • dove sono piu' queste voci grande!!!!!!!!!

  • @baffiett abbiate pazienza e pregate per me ;)

  • Are you fucking crazy? Ernesto Morillo is a son of a bitch, and so all the people who don'like Siepi! CESARE SIEPI IS THE GREATEST BASSO OF THE CENTURY AMONG Ezio Pinza,Nazzareno de Angelis, and Tancredi Pasero

  • the best!

  • Go find a Job.

  • @WhiteProfondo Okay, Mr. WhiteProfondo, I just listened to Mr. Morillo and can tell you this: Mr. Morillo will NOT be singing when HE is 62. If I were his teacher, I'd put him back on scales until he learns how to phonate pitches dead center, without depressing his larynx, or without oversinging. We're all still waiting, by the way, to hear YOUR version of this aria. Mindless, uninformed bashing of the greatest singers in history really pisses me off. Stop writing and start studying.

  • Show me your opinion,I would really like to hear it.

  • Then post a clip with your version of it, then let us be the judge of that!

  • He would never do such a thing, because he is worlds apart from maestro Siepi. He would ridicule himself.

  • Yup, he's THE MAN!!!!! Absolutely nobody like him,,, thank you for this post

  • What a glorious basso

  • SEI UN GRANDEEE!!!uno degl ultimi giganti!!

  • It really doesnt get any better than this! What a master.

  • I think he's the best bass. He's unbelievible.

  • Exceptional singing by the greatest bass of

the century. He may be sixty-two but every

aspect of the performance works to perfection

from the grief stricken opening to the pain

of that last low note that covers you like

black velvet. Fiesco is one Verdi's great

bass roles and to hear it sung with such

    class is a real treat.

Thank you so much for posting the excerpts

    from this concert!

  • He's 62 years old here. Incredible.

  • A phenomenal singer and one of my favourite bass arias.
