  • there is no spoon

  • @hallofusilli sorry about the grammer I just typed kind of fast and did not look back to correct myself. The only reason I mentioned Thomas Campbell is because I got most of the information from him.

  • Comment removed

  • @hallofusilli just science.

  • @hallofusilli you really can't ever know what i have and have not done its foolish to believe or to not believe what I have done my experience with the bigger conscious sytem is personal just like individual conscious is personal.Like I said if you want your answers look up thomas campbell my big toe, explaining the whole model of conscious and theory of everything would force me to right an essay which I don't want to do ,don't worry it has nothing too do with that new age spirituality crap

  • @calidaysthrash Dude... be careful with the "right an essay" when you're trying to come off as intelligent person, talking about Thomas Campbell.

Not trying to be a dick. Just saying.

But maybe it was a typo?

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks there is a huge difference between RIGHT AN ESSAY and WRITE AN ESSAY?

  • I wish he was still alive so I could ask him to elaborate on the "collective consciousness" theory.

  • @EulogizeMe43 You want to know about it, look up "Alan Watts" on You Tube.

    Zen Buddhism.

Watts was a philosopher who had, among others, a huge influence on Bill Hicks.

Keep it to yourself. Don't show to others. Enlightenment is an individual path. You can't force food on someone who's not hungry.

    Peace.

  • @JPVeigaaaa I'll check it out, thanks.

  • @hallofusilli Although my judgement towards his perspective was a bit irrational because of my lack of knowing hicks personally too see if he actually has subjective experience with the higher conscious system or just likes speaking pretty words to make him seem deep, but I understand your logic.

  • @calidaysthrash My response covered that. One consciousness that experiences itself subjectively? Where is the actual philosophic insight? So you take seemingly isolated individualized consciousness and unify it into an indivisible one and think you have come upon something profound? That it experiences itself subjectively? What does it even mean for a thing to experience itself subjectively? What does it even mean for a thing to experience itself?

  • @calidaysthrash So you simply take something (called consciousness) that is a thing of such an obscure and mysterious nature. A thing we haven't the slight clue what it is and say it is one. What have you actually done? Not very much at all.

When it comes to simply sitting down and contemplating the many metaphysical ?'s floating around I find more and more how little is actually known. How limited our understanding is. And it is, it most certainly is. We are so blind.

  • @hallofusilli well im talking about the "conscious" part of what he said,I suggest you look up thomas campbell my big toe(theory of everything) I'm to lazy to explain digital physics, and his words may seem vague to you because you lack the subjective experiece of exporing higher states of conscious, and if you don't have that experience his thoughts of consciousness are just poetic but useless metaphysics.

  • @Andy97009814 David Gilmour joined as its fifth member in December 1967, several months prior to SYD BARETT'S departure from the group due to his deteriorating mental health. How you could exempt Syd when The Dark Side of The Moon and every subsequent album thereafter is dedicated to him is unconscionable. You & 85 other people are morons. How I Wish. How I Wish SYD was here.

  • Dear princess celestia, today I learned..

  • @chunkymead brohoof..?

  • bill hicks definitely had a clear view of reality

  • @calidaysthrash Hicks didn't have a clear view of reality. He probably, proudly thought he did. I mean come on, let's not kid ourselves, Hicks was full of himself. A clear view of reality? What does this even mean? Given that existence is so mind-shreddingly profound, given that the mysteriousness of it is so completely and utterly overwhelming what does it even mean to have a clear view of reality? As if human understanding could tackle the profundities of existence to see it

  • @calidaysthrash as it really is. Whatever the hell this even means. Also, be much more critical of words and what they convey. I think you'll find that whatever lies behind these seemingly profound words is actually quite vague and really not at all really of any philosophical value.

  • I read your comments and found myself nodding in agreement. Make no mistake, I think Bill Hicks is a WONDERFUL comedian. But he has that "fullofhimselfness" that characterizes most liberals nowadays.

"his thoughts of consciousness are just poetic but useless metaphysics." I find it funny that atheists (and I'm one) laugh at the certainties held by religion but never question their own way of understanding reality.

What if we're just scratching the surface?

    You know what I mean?

  • See i think drugs have done some good things for us, I really do, and if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a favor: go home tonight and take all your albums, all your tapes, and all your cds and burn 'em. 'cause you know the musicians who made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years.... rrrrrrrrreal f**kin high on drugs.

  • Steve jobs thought LSD/ACID was one of the most eye opening experience of his life. I dont think Hicks is druggy lunatic.

  • Bill Hicks is without a doubt one of the last great truth tellers in comedy. RIP man you are missed and revered.

  • what a useless fucking audience there's about 5 to ten people laughing while i'm laughing my ass off.

  • wow just wow

  • @rockandrollmcdonalds - Tool - Third Eye.

  • Another dead hero.

  • guess what tool song has this in it

  • I understand why Sigmund Freud closed himself off from the world.

  • andy97 you forgot syd barret (quit due to acid). bill is on key,& those who denied have never really been.....

  • tool

  • i realise that he really believes in what he is saying. so do i.

  • 28 years ago four guys named David, Nick, Roger and Richard wrote music. They constantly had at least one of them on LSD to hear the connections in the music. That music was later released as an album, and it stayed on top as the most sold album fro twenty years. The album was called The Dark Side of The Moon and the group was called Pink Floyd.

  • @Andy97009814

    38years ago....

  • @mancltymagics1 Sorry, I mixed the numbers. Point still valid, though.

  • @Andy97009814 - gee, thanks for the news update, Cronkite. You douchelick

  • @pockmarkedbuttocks Wow, that is really a constructive comment!

  • @Andy97009814 - yes it was, twatlicker ;-)

  • @Andy97009814 Source? I've never heard of that before

  • @Andy97009814 your statement is false. The Floyd rarely if at all used LSD after they saw the affects of it on their former lead singer/songwriter Syd Barrett's mental state of mind. Roger and Nick have admitted to never even trying LSD, and David and Rick (especially Rick) have admitted that they do not like the effects of it. They did smoke marajuana occasionally but never before a gig or a recording session.

  • @Deltarogers I smoke when I write music. Not perform or record, although it is more passionate, its not always as good. I don't think i could function musically on anything else...

  • @Spwee1494Halo I agree with you, But there are countless misconceptions about the 1960's and 70's, In context of the Floyd, they use to love jam sessions, which is really how "Dark Side of the Moon' came about, from Jam sessions.I was only later while sitting in Nick Mason's kitchen that they decided to turn it into a concept. At reduced royalty rate they were given unlimteted studio time at Abbey Rd, which back then was like putting a kid in a candy store.

  • @Andy97009814 Definitely a positive LSD story. Hallucinogens can be dangerous, (especially if they are abused) but anybody who knows a little about the history of the human species knows that artists have been doing them since art existed. If the war on drugs was ACTUALLY successful and they became unobtainable.... idiotic.

  • @Andy97009814 not to mention the rest of the 60's rockers, beatles, doors, santana, jimi, and the list goes on and on

  • @Andy97009814 hahaha I love the fact that this is a comment on here. can't even explain

  • @Andy97009814 Dark Side of the moon came out in 1973, 39 years ago.

  • @corycashatt90 I know, you're the second one to tell me that. :)

  • I hate this man.

  • @MusHYPooPiE do u hate him because he's more creative then a mushyPooPie, I advise you to go try something that would alter your consciousness thats NOT alchohol, write a story, paint a picture, and you can hope you came up with a aesthetic principle more mind blowing then a mushy poo pie, its not hard.

  • @MusHYPooPiE me too

  • @MusHYPooPiE Why do you hate him?

  • @MusHYPooPiE And we all hate you... it's such a lovely a circle you are spreading, instead of spreading hate, intolerance, bigotry or anything negative how about you do something constructive for society and off yourself. "Suck a tailpipe, borrow a gun from a yank friend..."

  • I hate him.

  • I was told by a girl who knows I'm a big fan of stand up to check out Margaret Cho's act.Well it was absolutely horrible and I needed some Bill Hicks to recover. Thanks Bill.R.I.P

  • fuckin brilliant!

  • Bill Hicks and George Carlin, may they both find their places in the higher dimensions, free from this world.

  • @Agui007 If you call rotting in the dirt a higher plane of existance, then, yes, they just might.

  • @psilicybin666 No not the earth plane, the astral plane.

  • @Agui007 Yet, the earthen plane is within the astral plane, for, they are one and the same.

  • @M0ntressa yes it is

  • @M0ntressa Nope. It is in a tool song but this is where Tool got it from. What you are watching right now is probably one of the coolest quotes in the world.

  • @M0ntressa

    Yes.

Tool and Bill Hicks were good acquaintances/friends.

He was invited to pretty much every concert.

  • Thank you tool!

  • Does anyone know which show this is? i can't seem to find it.

  • @Metal404Head Relentless, Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, 1991...found on Bill Hicks Live DVD with other great shows...ABSOLUTELY worth getting for any Hicks fan, especially for "I WANT MY ROCK STARS DEAD!!!!" routine :)

  • @robocreep Yeah, derp me, i noticed the description right after i posted that.

  • @Metal404Head Well, don't feel bad, because Relentless on DVD is different than Relentless on CD...both worth getting...& anyone watching Bill Hicks has some kinda intelligence :)

  • @robocreep Yep. Every time i watch this guy, every time i laugh. And i've watched it a million times.

  • @Metal404Head revelations

  • @mouthlicking Yeah i found it, turns out i had watched it a million times, just had a brain fart at that moment.

    Thanks though :D

  • @Metal404Head revelations ,,sorry scratch that,, I just watched the endf and its called relentless,, oops

  • PRESS 5 FOR BRAIN FUCK

  • what's the tune at the end?

  • @arakhnist Purple haze, Jimmy Hendrix :)

  • @burlescaya damn, right. f*ing stupid question. obviously been way too long since i listened to hear the legacy. that needs to change right away.

  • i feel like the crowd wasn't very responsive until the very end. nevertheless, hicks is a legend.

  • Bill Hicks going out to what sounds like an instrumental cover of Purple Haze? Yes, please.

  • fuck off, people. Bill Hicks is WAY fucking more badass than Lewis Black. I mean, waaaay, fucking WAY fucking more badass.

  • holy shit its lewis black

  • Lmfao.

  • Look into DMT.

  • @misslovely2882 its too mainstream

  • @misslovely2882 I love you.

  • @TwistedxNectar Love ya back ;]

  • I don't think he ever died. I think he went into hiding and re-emerged as Lewis Black.

  • @chronique86 Why would you insult Bill Hicks like that? haha

  • @chronique86 Lewis Black was around prior to Bill Hicks death. He's in an Adrian Lyne movie called "Jacob's Ladder" from 1990, and Hicks lived until 1994.

That, and Bill Hicks is far funnier and more subversive than Lewis Black. (And I really do like Lewis Black, btw) Bill Hicks is in a category of comedians like Richard Pryor and George Carlin. Lewis Black is mortal, and will be more or less forgotten after he has his inevitable aneurysm.

  • Doesn't the ending song sound a little bit like Purple Haze?

  • @Hollandvancewright yes actually it does!

  • @Hollandvancewright it is puple haze.. lawl

  • Tool rules

  • Real, true, awesome. Bill Hicks.

  • I haven't done a whole lot of drugs in my life, at least not in volume compared to some of the friends I've had. As far as what I've done, the list goes: GHB, Ecstacy, Pot and Shrooms. and that was all in the last ten years. Well I finally managed to get ahold of some Acid and I did it with a friend of mine. I was amazed at how focused and creative I was when I took it. Aside from the bathroom mirror making me feel slightly paranoid, I didn't get a lot of visuals, but creatively... WOW!

  • This is great ! Thank you for sharing !

  • Brilliant.

  • Bill Hicks... I just found out who this was and he is a badass, RIP BILL

  • @MrThunderfan But according to what he said he never truly died man, he is you and he is me. I am you and you are me. We are all one, man...one. ^ ^

  • Thanks for posting this, Bill Hicks is a classic.

  • theres no funnier thing than REALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    thx bill!!!!!!!!!!!!

    that was a genious statement!

  • drugs are baad .. mmkay
