  • Piping (or welt) strips can be cut on the bias or on the cross grain regardless of the pattern. I prefer making my strip on the bias because the resulting piping has more flexibility. Either way is fine; you may even prefer cutting on the cross grain when you're short on fabric. Please let me know your project is progressing; I wish you every success!

  • I appreciate your slow tempo as a relative beginner. Thank you so much. Your videos are fantastic. I've selected a solid fabric, for my kitchen chairs, duck I believe. For solids, is it as necessary to cut on the bias? It seems like I should probably still cut for piping on the bias?
