I bought one video from the site and was very pleased. I bought the Alex Lifeson of Rush teaching "Limelight" by Rush. I figured if Alex tells me this is how the song is played, that's how its played, because he played it on the the original. They also have "Tom Sayer" and 'Spirit of Radio". I buying them for myself for Christmas.
this guy has it right, if you listen to the song the first lick has only one hammer on and a slide (i.e. hammer 7-9 slide 8-10) not hammer 12-14 on on the d string then hammer again 12-14 on the g string. either way you can still do the slide but look at santana play it, he is no were near 12... and the next lick will stay in position for this... and you stupid ass fuckers that say that its the wrong key they are the same damn notes played on different strings!!!
Why do you idiots keep bickering about what frets to play at like a bunch of amateurs? If you guys knew music you wouldn't have to say things like "7th fret D string" and "12 fret G string", because you would know that those are A and G notes respectively. Who cares where they play it as long as it's in the same octave?
I totaly dissagree with the video. for me the best way to get this done is First three notes of phrase 1. start at the D on 12th freth string 4 hammer to E same string fret 14 strike string 3 fret 12 Second three notes in phrase 1 back to the E on string 4 fret 14 strike string 3 fret 12 hammer on to string 3 fret 14 Now stick them together.
yeah it's the guitar from the song in the background that plays the cool shit guess when the shitty lessoner played it would sound like earbleeding crap.
Last time I checked they were custom made Paul Reed Smith guitars that he plays. He has his own line of "Santana II" that is very rarely produced for the consumer market.

If you're going to spend that much money on a guitar, go for a Suhr, Tyler or Anderson.
PRSs are great quality, but impossible to get character out of in my experience.
stratman06 2 years ago
Yeah, why would you want to play the guitar Santana plays to demonstrate a Santana song? You're "supernaturally" retarded. Yay puns!

What kind of scales does Santana use?
0ooLatinopoweroo0 3 years ago
Everyone uses pentatonic minor, but I'm sure he uses minor and major scales too
popomczowzow 3 years ago
blues penatonic i think
iNterp4disturbia 3 years ago
In this song he uses an A Harmonic Minor feel. The G# in that scale really brings out the sound of this tune.
ahoff912 3 years ago
he use pentatonic and modes such as dorian and mixolydian
