Hi, could you do a review on my new game, Fish vs Birds. It's currently on noteworthy list of singapore app store. really fun and challenging. Thank you.
They are using Amazon's Mechanical Turk service to identify the food. If you go to the MT page, and search the available tasks for "food", and keep hitting refresh, you'll see the tasks from them. Looks like they pay from $0.02 to $0.06 per photo. There tasks are titled "Tell me what foods are in this picture" and the description is "I need to know what foods are in this picture, try to state them as clearly as possible".
As someone who has used almost EVERY single weight loss and diet iPhone app in the Health and Fitness Category. I can say that I was LESS THAN IMPRESSED with meal snap. Novel concept of course, but pathetic accuracy. In my opinion **BEST** iPhone diet app is hands down intelli-Diet! It just takes the thinking out of the equation and I just eat what it says. Down 12 pounds in a few weeks! I believe it’s 60% off now too so you should check it out before meal snap! bit.ly/intelli-Diet
The reason it's taking so long and it works so good is because there is a sweaty guy at the other end of the line analyzing each photo in particular...
I'm starting to think its not a state-of-the-art algorithm, I think there are people analysing each picture!! That's why the picture is uploaded to their servers!
This app is just for fun, I don't see myself going to the burger place, ordering the deluxe burger, using this app to find out how many calories it contain, and when the results say that it has 5000 calories I will say no I wouldn't it it.
@michabox maybe thats because you have no standards for yourself to be healthy, and by the looks of your english your not to concerned about your education either.
@sparrowkid Give yourself a break you fool! you have no idea of who you referring to, but just so you know I am fit and I graduated from college two years ago. now go and watch the grass grow.
This is one of those apps that should clearly be free. There is nothing that warrants the $2.99 price tag. It looks cool, but nothing I'd waste my money on. I'll wait until it's free... like it should already be.
@NeverendingTwilight1 This is an independent developer.. who wrote a very sophisticated algorithm to make this possible. If you don't have 3 bucks to give, then don't.
@NeverendingTwilight1 Why should this be free??? He needs bread as much as teh next guy and programming is work like any other work which should be payed.
@kukelz If someone wants money for an app, they should make one that people are most likely going to use everyday. This seems like the kind of app you'd use once or twice and then get bored with it. It is not an app that is worth money.
What's that television show recognition app he mentions? I didn't quite hear it. I had that idea for an app after using Soundhound and Shazam but it's been done already????

What?
If anything MORE people would want to use this app every day because it really is useless if you only use it once
