ok i just want to make this clear....... when you light candles your saving energy but your still putting carbon in your house. you guys might have a really big carbon foot print if you do that everyday. so your really not doing anything by turning off your lights and then burning a candle. there both the same kind of thing.

We did this as part of one time annual Earth Hour demonstration. It is just something nice to do with my kids and it made them feel like they are doing something special regardless of how practical it really is. I blew the candle out after the video was done so it was lit for about 8 minutes. I make it good practice to conserve energy every day in every way possible. We did shut the power for an hour during our demonstration. It was near bedtime anyway.

This was just family fun. We participated in an Earth Hour demonstration. Little things like this help set some good character for our kids. They felt like they were doing something very special and important for our world and best of all they were enjoying the quality time spent while demonstrating, it was like an adventure. When they get older I am sure they will have their own opinions and views on global warming and energy conservation.

They gotta have their night lights on but I have been slowly dimming the light at night to dark so they can get used to it.

did you unplug your fridg too and turned off your digital clocks? I tern the lights off every night for 8 to 10 hr and not to mention when im not home . man we are good I recicle cans and glass because it cost and energy saving but not paper. it cost more and is bad for the envierment to recicle paper because of the chyem. used to remove the ink. when all you got to do is terr it up and use it for something like compost or dont bye news paper i get most of my news on the net

I make up for it in my daily use on electricity. Doing it for a cleaner world is a good motivator but seeing how high an electric bill can get if you waste energy is another big motivator.

That must have been wonderful! Those kind of power outs are great when you have a loving family to share them with. My daughters would normally be scared of the dark but when we do it for a good cause they have lots of fun with it.
