  • Ah Mr. George Gershwin. Your cameo on this short is always well appreciated it. ^__^

  • This song always made me think, a simple turn of events can make a lot of people very happy

  • i've never seen this before, i like it.

  • 5:19 - 5:22 lol.

    Fantastic music, totaly awesome.

  • The little girl is just too cute.

  • Art!!!

  • how call this song

  • i saw this when i was really young, but watching it now, this animation is such a nice narrative about America back in the early 20th century and even now

  • I want some Old School Peanuts

  • @animehunters999 Preferably Korny's :o)

  • It is my personal opinion that this is the best piece out of both fantasias.

  • that was the most interesting and quickest 12:42 seconds of my life.

what happeend to you Disney, because every song in High school musical felt like an eternity of screeching hell.

    I miss you, old Disney.

  • @11par well, actually, the HSM songs are from Disney but George Gershwin composed this one. but i still agree with you.

  • 6:26

    Gershwin Himself

Amazing animation, sums speaks to so many people

  • @s1apshot56 Thank you very much for explaining it to me. I am new to this kind of thing and I've never been much of a music lover. Once again, thank you.

  • Wait, so was I the only one to notice that 6:26 is Gershwin himself? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @nahedh You are right.

  • 14520 $ to paid on the Bill Woaw!

  • @Electronlibre00 lol ikr

  • I remember this so well

  • What do you call this kind of music again? It's genre I mean.

  • @Despamifier

    Jazz

  • @Despamifier It's jazz. Specifically its symphonic jazz, appreciated by the "high" culture during the jazz age. It was performed by Paul Whiteman at his NY concert for Experimental Music in 1924. At a time when jazz was just beginning to become acceptable for middle-class white america to listen and dance to, this piece was able to blend american jazz with european classical music, it was a huge hit.

  • Brilliant.

  • @ 4:00 there is a green foot sticking up xD

  • This piece is absolutely one of the most amazing things i've ever heard, and now seen. It's incredible to imagine what must have been going through Gershwin's mind as he wrote this. I found inspiration in this to start writing more music, just to try and get closer to the genius inherent in this, and others like it.

  • who else watched this as a little kid?

  • who ever storyboarded this a genius

  • am i the only one who realizes that names of the people who partook in this videos creation are hidden within the video? (ie at 6:13, the bowling pins have names on them or at 2:46 the menu outside says "ERIC GOLDBERG PIE")

  • wow!!

  • i get exta creadet for wacting this:)

  • @DarkNecrofear01 you get exta creadet for knowing how to spell EXTRA CREDIT too :p At least I hope your teacher is that lenient

  • The Al Hirshfeld style cartoons are PERFECT for this piece. Nothing could be better. And the cameo by Gershwin playing his own music? Wonderful. The whole thing is wonderful.

  • Never saw this before. It's GREAT! Thanks so much for posting! Love love love it!

  • I love the way the music paired with the first character when he realized he overslept. Hilarious! Don't we all have that moment at one point of time?

  • i haven't watched this movie since i was 3 years old and 10 years later i watched it in music class today and somehow i remembered this part sooo well.:) it was so great

  • i feel so bad 4 that chubby guy :(

  • such an AWSOME animation, the cartoon blending perfectly with the music, also, loved the design they used, using simple, almost monochromatic colorsets in almost everything, even in the "main characters", though they have a more definition and expressions, such a perfect masterpiece, dang, I wish disney could make a new Fantasia x3

  • Talk about creativity!

  • Genius!

  • i think its interesting that at 5:15 he gets yelled at by at cop, then the cop eats the apple… A COP IS A ROBBER!!

  • @hipepleful corruption in the system lol

  • The first time I saw this was when the movie came out when I was about eight. Two years ago, I discovered "Rhapsody in Blue" and knew I had heard it before. It wasn't long before I remembered it being paired with this video. That's just magic!

  • Thumbs up if you want Disney to make an entire movie using this style of animation

  • This is the best YouTube animated video quality I've ever seen

  • I have seen this video a hundred times, yet one very important question remains: why does the ballet school have a bowling ball?

  • @Dilandau3000 I think that's just the coat room for the ballet students.

  • wow, 0 dislikes :)

  • @Darc7sky and only 327 likes out of 30,619 views. good but not that impressive

  • Sweet quality man. Love this song

  • not nearly as epic as the song

  • Wonderful!

  • Probably one of the finest pieces of repetitious music , and by repetitious i mean the tune has its own chorus which many have yet many utilise has good has this. If you were as artistic as Gershwin you would have come up with the same name. Rhapsody in Blue is a ''sweet'' ''candy-like'' play on its theme. Almost toy-like in it's nature it draws you into the jazzy nature and thus raises quirk. Brilliante !!!!

  • The guy who is whipped looks like Teddy Roosevelt.

  • 11:00 can't get a taxi because he's black lol

  • This is a song that means a lot to me and has for a lot of if not all of my life. Being a long time and proud second generation United employee, this song has played a very big role in my life in its various forms, and you can say what you want about United but This song is timeless. When I first saw this piece it moved me almost to the point of tears and a genuine smile. Being able to tell a wonderful story no words at all and a single musical piece shows just how amazing Rhapsody really is.

  • Out of all the Fantasia 2000 parts this one sticks out to me the most. I love the aestetics, the story, the music, I just love it all. Last time I saw this was when I was about 12 and I'm 20 now. Back then I immediately saw myself in the repressed husband who just wanted to have a bit of fun. I love having fun spontaneously like playing with little children or goofing around with a street clown (seriously, it's a blast).

  • @StonegazeSteam Very good comment about it. I guess every one who lives in big city has this "melancholia" and dreams of having this idyllic happiness outburst, they all have in the end of the cartoon.

  • 1:49 SUPER MARIO

  • Ahah génial ça me rappelle mon enfance j'avais toutes les cassette de fantasia c'est toujours aussi magique !

  • RIP Gershwin: The Mozart of the United States.

  • This is incredible. I wish all the other cartoon classics were in HD or HQ, like Rhapsody in Rivets, Cat Concerto, Rabbit of Seville, What's Opera Doc.. and so many more countless Chuck Jones and Hanna-Barbera classics. I feel sad for the kids these days, the cartoons these days are utter nonsense :/

  • This is wonderful! Finally i can see it in HD! Love it so much... all thanks to the late George Gershwin for making this happening :)

  • 108 likes and no dislikes...make that 109. :)

  • I actually didn't have a like for this song because I used to think it was just too random, but now I love it just because I think about all the characters in this video.

  • wow amazing Gershwin

  • George Gershwin is such an inspiration <3

  • Favorite cartoon ever!! Wonderful song and animation!

  • mental control

  • this is the greatest thing ever.

  • Whoever thought, "This little bit sounds like a fat man dancing with a monkey" is a genius.

  • i just noticed that the litte girl's hair is purple and black. that's awesome. :D

  • @musiclover169 Her mother as well

  • @musiclover169 omg. ive watched this video on my fantasia tape 209356295623239823659 times since i was 8 & i've never noticed that. LOL now i cant took away from her hair

  • @ArMoBaBeX3 wow. you've watched it a lot.

    :D

  • It's really mesmerising. I love the way that they have fitted every detail of the music with something in the video.

  • @Campervanful I think the music was directed to the city of New York

  • Thank you so much for uploading this in HD!

  • Reminds me of what is happening right now. I pray for all those that don't have a job. I know that Obama will lead us out of this mess, but that it will ultimately be up to us to choose our destiny.

  • @dpas2009 He'll kill us if he continues to attempt to close Gitmo. I've heard it on Fox News. Despite the people indefinitely keeping it open, he still plans to close it.

  • Gosh I love this

  • really amazing

  • This is so wonderful.

  • beautiful. thank you.

  • Thanks for uploading this!!! I absolutely adore it :)
