  • go to work traffic and family=automatic

    weekend at circuit=manual

    it's simple

  • 6:22 Eh, get out, Tiff... lol

  • dude... tiff is a beast

  • paddle shift = paddle shit

  • Love the manual :D The flappy paddle gearbox is garbage

  • I drive a 01 auto civic...Not really fun

But I really need to learn how to drive a manual

  • 6:39 that is SO TRUE! AUTOMATICS IS FOR GIRLS!

  • Okay, I love to drive a Manual Transmission car as much as the next man. But the days of Automatic transmissions being the laughing stock, unfun, boring, inferior transmissions are OVER. We're not in the the 19th or 20th century anymore, this is the 21st century and technology has really advanced over the years. Automatics on todays cars can be just as fast and just as much fun to drive as a manual tranny. So Autos are on the same level if not better than manuals now. GET OVER YOURSELVES!

  • @krocialblack

It is prooving beyond doubt that automatics will eventually (if not already) be:

    - Easier

    - Faster

    - More fuel-efficient

    - More reliable to use

    - More mechanically reliable

However: MORE FUN? I dare, at least, to question that to be the case. I think it is, in the very least, debatable.

  • @alernest Well yes they are. Matter of fact I had the privilege and once in a life time opportunity to drive a SLS AMG, that car is a automatic and I had just as much fun driving that as I did my manual 98' C5. Believe me, cars are not less fun and isn't half the car if it isn't a standerd. A real car enthusiast will agree with my point, but a person who tries to make them self look more macho and cooler than they really are will spout out crap like "Autos are for fags" or something childish.

  • @krocialblack I respectfully disagree. I've driven following manual AND auto (how else to compare?): -BMW 323i E21 -328i E36 -328Ci E46 -Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS And I've driven the following both manual and semi-auto: -BMW 130i E87 -135i E82 -M3 E46 -Nissan 350Z -Mercedes SLK 350 - VW Golf R (DCT) - Audi TT V6 (DCT) Of the former group manuals were faster & more frugal Of the latter groups semi-autos were equivalent/better But in EVERY SINGLE CASE MANUALS WERE MORE ORGANICALLY SENSORIAL, FUN.
  • @alernest Growing up in the generation of Automatic vehicles, my Mercedes has one with tiptronic, I personally believe that Krocialblack is at least partly correct. Yes manuals feel more torquey and may be more fun to drive in certain situations, but is sitting in traffic and constantly having to go to the clutch really that fun? I find the inclusion of practicality to add to the fun of owning a car - perfect example, S65 AMG or SLS AMG - less fun to drive?

  • @alernest Are you kidding me?! Read up on your stuff because you're wrong

  • @alernest Manuals have been proven to be more fuel-efficient cars. They definitely are faster because you control the RPMs of the car. The are easier to drive if you know how to drive one. Manuals are more reliable because you have more control of the whole car. There is a reason NASCAR drivers drive manuals and car enthusiast drive manuals.

  • Respond to this video... Nice cars though

  • @alernest manuals are more feul efficient

  • @alernest

That's your opinion if you think they are more fun...

  • @krocialblack ohhh come on man let the people have their opinions. personally i prefer manual. (even though im only 15)

  • @krocialblack automatics take no skill to drive at all, so therefore all sportiness is gone and you lose the control you get with a stick when the car makes decisions for you

  • @21Rushisaband12 So you're saying it takes no skill to drive a top fuel dragster at 250MPH? Sorry but I disagree. The fastest car in the world is a freaking Automatic, the SLR is known for being one of the best supercars on the market and reviewers rave about it and it's an Automatic. The only people ragging on Automatics are punk kids who watched too much "Fast And The Furious" Why do you think so many cars are swaping to Semi Auto? Because Manuals are old and outdated. We're in the future now!

  • @krocialblack i never watched none of those bullshit movies and i never will, i was forced to learn stick-shift after being against and now i love it, i was then the victim of careless lazy automatic drivers who text and eat and put on makeup and almost get me killed, driving a stick kept me aware and safe while many of my friends got in crashes in autos, i say its not sporty because the car does what it does regardless of driver decision, automatics are the future but stick is still more fun

  • @21Rushisaband12 ALL I'M SAYING IS STOP RAGGING ON AUTOMATICS LIKE IMMATURE LITTLE CHILDREN!!!! Is that too much to ask!? You've got your prefrences, okay fine! But I've seen people who drive like shit in Manuals as well, SO DON'T YOU DARE FEED ME THAT "Manual takes more skill" BULLSHIT KID! ALL cars are FUN regardless of transmission. A REAL Petrolhead will tell that. Not make bullshit assumptions like a child. IT'S TIME TO COME TO THE FUTURE!!!!

  • @krocialblack why do you assume everyone is a kid, and automatics are not fun they're boring, God gave us two feet for a reason, gas and clutch, and everyone i know who drives an automatic talks shit about how good they are and then when they get in my car they ask, "what's the third pedal for?" i'm tired of people thinking they're the shit when anyone with 1 arm, 1 leg and half a brain can drive like they can, yeah automatics are becoming more advanced but i don't care, stick is more fun for me

  • @21Rushisaband12 Mothafucka what do you think you're doing? "i'm tired of people thinking they're the shit" thats exactly what you're are doing. And I'm calling you a KID because you don't know nothing about anything. So FUCKING what!? You drive a stick shift? What do you want a FUCKING medal!? At the end of the day nobody gives a flying SHIT if you drive a stick. No body is think your a hero for driving with an extra pedal. They're gonna think that your just another loser driving a GODDAMN CAR!

  • @krocialblack well grumpy did i hit a nerve? i don't care if anyone gives a shit if i drive a stick, the fact is it does take more skill and thats why people don't drive em as much, and don't say its because automatics perform better because when the swing to automatic took place they were nowhere near as efficient as manuals so people people drove em to work less... so when I'm in a parking lot and a big fat tool revs his automatic engine it pisses me off cuz he doesn't control its power at all

  • @21Rushisaband12 Just shut the fuck up. You're make yourself look a dumbass.

  • @krocialblack took you like a week and thats all you could come up with? dude you gotta work on your trolling skills, your not very good at it

  • @21Rushisaband12

A car doesn't have to have a clutch or gears to be fun to drive.

  • @21Rushisaband12

Your an idiot. It's your opinion dumbass, F1 drivers use twin clutch now so what ever you say doesn't matter.

  • @Fonno88

As I said: I will delete all entries that are simple insults of people seemingly unable to build a single argument, even if addressed to me. It appears some ill-fed people are not capable of building arguments that have force on their own, they feel powerless and think offending people will be the only way of attracting brief attention to their otherwise poor intelects.

I heard that consuming almonds can increase your intelectual capacity. BTW: What is your IQ? No, seriously

  • In Europe, 90% of cars are Manual, many countries don't even sell cars with automatic transmission.

Learning how to start your car on a hill is a basic task on driver lisence exam.

With automatic it's child's play, but with manual it's hard as hell, but i'ts basic, you have to learn it.

    Automatic - comfort

    Manual - Skill

  • @sorsorsor11 Well theres more variables that come into play though.

If you are building a car you want some street fun and do alot of drag racing - your probably better off with a built automatic and high stall ( torque converter) .

If you are road racing/Drifting then nothing beats a manual transmission.

Day to day driving - nothing like the comfort of an automatic.

Weekend warrior - you feel more in touch with your manual.

Realistically either gear box has its purpose

  • You say absolutely nothing, I say not. Read your interaction between one person and the next. Just do so. Depending on scenario, type of car, etc.

  • I allways laugh when he says flappy paddle gearbox

  • I'm a new driver. On the road just 4 months. And I can say I love manual. It's just better. I hate pressing the brake when there's no need for.

I've driven my father's Audi A6 which has an automatic...I changed to sequential really soon because I simply didn't like how flying it went even after I released the accelerator. On my car, I release the accelerator and it brakes, I can go down hill without touching the brake pedal...I got some trucker's blood in me, so this is prolly why I hate braking

  • I do not understand american hype over manual. Here in Europe, if you have money you buy automatic with a big engine like V6, otherwise you buy an econobox with 1.4L 3 cylinder engine and manual gear box. If you're only really rich then you can buy one of those super cars from video with manual or flapping gear box for showing off over weekends. Most of time it's money choice not a religion, simple like this. Argument of "having more control over car" is just lame.

  • hahaha i used to say bmw would be the only car i would go for if there were no japanese cars available

  • @cjlewiscccc

    GUYS,

Let us REFRAIN OURSELVES FROM OFFENDING ok?

I have to delete entries that are plain, unimaginative insults. We have preferences, but I fail to see the point of offending others because of them. We have preferences but WHY DO WE TRY TO DISQUALIFY AND ATTACK THOSE DON'T SHARE THEM?

  • GUYS,

Let us REFRAIN OURSELVES FROM OFFENDING ok?

I have to delete entries that are plain, unimaginative insults. We have preferences, but I fail to see the point of offending others because of them. We have preferences but WHY DO WE TRY TO DISQUALIFY AND ATTACK THOSE DON'T SHARE THEM?

  • @alernest So how do expain the top rated comment?

  • @toweronepower

I don't know what you may be referring to. Anyone is free to rave about anything. Just mind that Hitler too was also elected by popular vote...

  • semi-automatic in a sls amg is a big sin. In a semi-automatic and automatic, if the electronic system goes down u can´t change gear and you´ll be stuck and in a manual you have the chance of downhill put it in 2nd gear and recharge the batery.

To finnish, in he manual we have the real feeling of driving and in a semi and in an automatic is really boring and unrelieble.

  • Once in a while you enjoy stick shift driving. But that's just choice. Doing what you have to do, going back to shifting then back to doing what youre doing somehow is quite cool. On a daily commute its a hassle. I don't know if there are people who can relate to the feeling of how relaxing it feels to drive an automatic after driving stick-shift for some time. I've converted to automatic after using my own mind. Don't let people influence you.

  • @heartlessvietboy

I've driven MANY AUTOMATIC CARS. Most of our organisation's company cars are automatic, I have driven since kid my mom's cars, e.g. her present auto Forester (an otherwise BRILLIANT CAR)

I do think I have a remote idea of what I was referring to.

  • Automatic culture is now in full effect here in Sweden FUCK FUCK FUCK

It increases fuel consumption, what more is there to say really? And it cost 2000 dollars... wtf? And it lowers the second hand value... DAMN people are stupid.

  • In Australia there is some kind of auto culture...and i despise of it in every way possible.

    Manual > Automatic/Semi-Auto/Cvt

  • Automatic should be forbidden....anyone driving with it is a disgrace for society...

  • Hahahahaha. He said it feels like a mustang! Camaro FTW!!!

  • That is another reason why I'm sticking to the Corvette, simply, powerful, good handling, and you get to control every piece of it.

  • I don't understand why people buy sports cars so they can drive them like one.. but you're not really driving a car unless you're in charge of the gears, the computer is.

    Manual FTW

  • @westyy1993 ya i got a transformer it does its shifting for me while i blast your ass to the past auto ftw

  • @westyy1993

A go kart doesn't have gears and that in my opinion is still more fun than a manuel car :P

  • at 3:01 it was like watching harry potter.. dont know why..

  • I never liked Manuel at all I think it's the worst transmission ever made, DSG is much nicer it's the balance between good feel and control, the way you can change the gears instantly and directly without having to step on an annoying clutch just to change gears.

I'd have to say DSG does feel good to use but I can never manage to handle a Manuel because I find it difficult to use and it ruins the feel of driving for me. but this is just my opinion.

  • thanks for putting this up man, thinking about trading in my 94 chevy monte carlo SS for a manual, i miss the feeling

  • @AlienTechProductions

I'm removing your comment since it is merely insults and futile nonsense, shy of any argumentation grounds. Have a nice day.

  • i drive a manual and very much enjoy the gear shifting.. but when i go to the city i really wish it was auto. auto's are great in the city as its one less thing to think about when trying to drive safely.

  • ITS FUNNYY HOW WE ALL DRIVE ON AUTOMATIC IN RACING GAMES LOL BUT COMPLAIN ABOUT IT IN REAL LIFE

  • @cjlewiscccc in racing games u get virtualy the right gear at right time, be it in braking or acceleration also great braking ability, and they demo games using top super cars which most of us cant afford, but in real(mechanical) world u get laggy performance, average brakes n loss of enthusiasm, best thing is try test drive both auto n manual n find out what i m sayin

  • @cjlewiscccc

Idiot, only 7 year old kids drive auto in computer games.

  • Lol love how you took all the negative parts of the reviews why don't u look up the 458 italia m3 Dct gtr 911 turbo dkg

  • those are some pretty expensive sport cars. i doubt they use the same kind of automatic transmission youll find in a camry... otherwise id rather save 1000$ to get more gears and a clutch system that is not fucked up and doesnt lose torque all the time. i wish all cars were offered with a standard manual transmission

  • 0-60 in three and a half minutes lmao

  • bought American live in the Uk very happy will stay with American muscle

  • RELEVANT how you showed the ZR1 with manual gearbox.

CHEVY is not capable of making a automatic tranny that can take the 600hp.

    Fail.

    Get your shit straight.

Also, many Ferraris burst on fire because of inproper gearshfts (overrevving)

  • ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr im a shark ive gotta fin on my back

  • Nothing's funnier than peeking inside an awesome looking sports car on the street and seeing an auto tranny. I would like seeing a sports bike with training wheels.

  • DCT ALL THE Way. yes argue smg, dual clutchles, and semi automatic, argue fully automatics, and manuals. but Dual clutchless is more efficent, and allows a far better ride and control of the vehicle than a fully automatic does, plus its not as lame to drive. i must say however operating the clutch yourself can be fun without a doubt. but some races have proved and f1 proves that in terms of revs and gear changes, DCT, or any semi automatic is faster than manual and way faster than full auto

  • i am looking to buy a Honda s2000 and i have found lots of good deals but there all manual and i can only drive automatic is it possible to change a car from manual to auto?

  • @NYking37461

You can but IMHO it is nearly criminal to drive this car in automatic, honestly. Automatics and sequentials have some objective practical advantages in many types of cars...

...not in this one, though, the S2000 is a drivers' car

  • @alernest im not going to enter any contest but its been my dream car for a while i just love the interior and you can do so much with it like body kits and such

  • @NYking37461

What do you mean, contest, it is not about beating anyone, it is about enjoying the brilliant sensorial driving machine it is. Your call.

  • @NYking37461

... I was left wondering, how would you enjoy this car's most outstanding feature, its manic revving engine, if you leave the automatisms decide the rev changes for you?

I would wholehartedly recommend you to train manual gearchanges...

  • @alernest ok thank you for the advice but, is it challenging to drive manual?

  • @NYking37461

It is not once you've become intuitively used to it, But it is indeed a challenge to learn it at first, just remember the goal is not to "learn" as in having to think, as in having to think "ok, now I'm going to use my left foot to clutch, release the throtle with my right foot, select gear with my hand, etc..."

You must think and decide very concretely every step while you're learning, the first months, then hopefully not anymore...

  • @alernest ok thank you very much for all of the help

  • @NYking37461 nah its not hard at all really, i picked it up in the 1st week, goodluck

  • @NYking37461 its not at all challenging to drive a manual, myself coming from a manual drive background i find the auto car more difficult to drive and the lag of needed performance always makes a driver suffer, its a totaly different in manual, the car actualy communicates n do what u want it to do, takes a lill while to learn but u ll enjoy the long term benefits which includes improvement in ur driving skills n more miles per gallon, and engine is also refined in manl. trims, also great brakes

  • @NYking37461 you wanna buy a honda s2000 and you cant even drive?

  • @NYking37461 Dude if you are going to buy an S2000, learn to drive standard. If it came with an automatic it would be all sluggish. The whole point of a sports car is that it is supposed to be sporty.

  • @NYking37461 idk but i whant to know how much would it cost to change a auto to a manual.?

  • @NYking37461 if you cannot drive manual forget about buying a high performance car like that. it defeats the whole purpose....

i donno if u can find a auto s2k but i definitely know the si comes only manual

  • @NYking37461 an s2000 with auto trans ? hahahahah !!!!!! what a dogscock!!

how did you get a DL if you cant shift ? you know , a 5speed is not the devil , nor is it rocket science.

real men drive stick , faggots, gay people and imbecils drive automatic oh and one more thing :

a sports car with automatic is like a hot chick with a dick

  • @oceanpirate83 if you need a stick to make you feel like a man then your obviously the gay person lol

  • @1987DLT wrong mate , i need to drive stick because im a man , not to make me feel like one.

  • @NYking37461 most sports cars are manual, changing to an automatic can be expensive, I heard of around 5 grand for transmission conversion

  • @NYking37461 manual is easy to drive and manuals are faster and you have more control over a car

  • @NYking37461 yea but itll cost you about 5-10 thousand dollars, its best to just learn to drive a manual, thier way more fun

  • @NYking37461 s2k only comes in manuel

  • @NYking37461 Are you disabled or something?

  • @NYking37461 Once you learn how to use the manual, you'll want to slap yourself for wanting to change to an auto transmission

  • @NYking37461

learn to drive Manual dude, Automatic is for Lazy American

  • @NYking37461

just spend a few minutes to learn manual. why would you want an awesome sports car and turn it into a piece of shit with automatic

  • @NYking37461 I hope you are trolling

  • By the way, why do people especialy from the US see manual transmission as an alien concept?? In Europe-or at least here in Greece it is extremely rare to see an automatic. Even grandmas drive manual here :p

  • Just tried a sequential semi-auto yesterday, the gearbox makes you feel disconnected to the car.Semi-autos abdicate the use of the left leg that was used for clutching, the paddle shifts lag the gear change response since the car's torque converters do the job for you, the general sensation is just that there is no control over the vehicle whatsoever.Paddleshifting might be good if they had clutches (F1), but performance cars are meant to be driven on manual gearboxes.

    5:10-5:21 is epic.

  • Why are so many car drivers so anti new technology?

  • @LeonSKennedy828

I don't think enthusiast drivers are against technology, not at all in fact.

What many drivers are legitimately against is for car manufacturer managers to deprive them of the control of many car functions and one of those is definetely gear ratio-management (not only selection but also regulation in degree i.e. variable input with the clutch)

    [...]

  • @alernest Well in that case, why not just buy a manual and rather than worry about what other people are driving and/or brag about having a manual?

  • @LeonSKennedy828

It is certainly even more objectable since managers do this for the wrong reasons: In order to have more reliable cars, with lower guarantee costs (manual trannies get broken by bad drivers, and they crash slightly more often), lower insurance rates, better second hand values... all so that they can sell MANY more new cars, rather than pure improvement in the driving experience.

    [...]

  • @LeonSKennedy828

    [...]

And yeah, I do believe one shouldn't be so naive, acritical and part-of-the-heard to assume that just ANY technology they stuff to a car is necessarily a benefit to its dynamic abilities.

  • @alernest I never said having tons of technology made a car better, I was just saying some car drivers do seem to hate automatics (and sometimes the people that drive them, for no good reason) just because they're different/new.

  • I believe the manual transmission is the technological perfection.

Auto needs more development because it has so many things needed to improve.

Such as reliability, power, gas milage etc...

  • Automatic sucks. Manual tranny and Top Gear rules!

  • the bmw 328i coupe counts as a semi automatic right?

  • @WeKnowYou12

Not quite, for the E36 range, there was no semi-automatic, the automatic was called 328iA Coupé.

  • semi autimatic is way easier than stick shift or clucth

  • whats the cost to change from manual to automatic?

  • automatic is for gay

    Manual is for real driver

  • @jimmyrx8 says the man who handles sticks well.

  • @jimmyrx8

Why do you say that? Its quite a common view but I don't understand it, in a lot of place, namely the US, automatic is the default, ordinary transmission for cars.

Besides why go to the extra hassle of sticking your foot down on a pedal and pushing a gearstick to move faster when technology exists that does this automatically?

  • @jimmyrx8 So because I only have 1 arm and have to use an automatic means I am not a real driver? how ignorant you are!

  • @KosukiFire fake driver.

  • @jimmyrx8 and semi is for .... ???

  • @jimmyrx8 what does the gear box have to do with some one sexual orientation????

suppressed memories for you I see!

  • You can change gears by yourself if you don't want to let the car do it. Also CVT gearboxes are very fast and you can't feel the gear changes. There are also very good automatics like S tronic from Audi. Ofcourse you can simply opt for a manual gearbox, if you like it.

  • Paddles are pussy. If it aint a stick it aint shit!

  • haha "whatever it is, just push it."

  • im getting a BMW M3 soon (E46) please i need help choosing which one i should get. SMG or straight up manual. ive always loved the feel of manual and the excitement of it. but apparently SMG gets better numbers and when theres traffic ill definitely get tired of manual. sooooo idk what to do please help!

  • @ibanezmanvicente8a

For that sort of sublime machine I would definitely suggest a manual. I presume you plan to USE the car, that is to exact all its dynamic potential, in that case I would assure you confidently you would get a greater sensorial pleasure with the manual any time.

I would suggest a sequential (the SMG in E46 is not double-clutch, BTW) in the two following cases (but probably only in those):

    [...]

  • @ibanezmanvicente8a

    [...]

    ... namely if you:

    a) Only use it in the city, downtown traffic, motorways without curves and nowhere else.

    b) Perhaps if you plan to you tune it for track days and want to extract the last millionth fragments of miliseconds from your laps. Some track (race) drivers suggest sequentials are more reliable to operate; others argue, however, with sequentials you don't always intuit what gear is engaged and risk loss of grip having wrong gears enagaged.

  • @alernest manual it is! thank you so much you definitely helped a lot. i think youre 100% right about having more pleasure with the manual. i feel its more involved and takes more skill to drive, therefore more challenging therefore more fun! once again thanks for your help

  • @ibanezmanvicente8a

No problem, glad I could help...

  • @ibanezmanvicente8a wait till u hit traffic lol

  • @swat305GINO nah. i ended up getting a manual. but not M3 i ended up with the new 5.0 mustang. i also live in atlanta. ive hit traffic many times and have never regret getting a manual. never

  • @ibanezmanvicente8a well I like manual as well but for some reason its been hard to find manual cars I plan on trying to trade my 08 lancer es auto for an 08 nissan altima 3.5 coupe manual now ill i got to do is wait and see i put my car up on craigs list hopefully I get some response I hate that you cant just replace auto with manual easily if so id get an automatic 08 nissan altima 3.5 coupe >.<

  • diz guy a semi auto hater -_- all three r gudd in different ways but for racing i dont recomend auto but for everyday ridin yes auto iz great but for racing manual and semi auto r the ones that dominate

  • rename this video "Reasons I Prefer Manual Transmissions and Corvettes"

  • @scange2

No thanks, I like it as is. And you may help me finding videos that describe the advantages, from a driving pleasure standpoint, of automatics. I found a couple of German presenters defending their use in saloons and hatchbacks (I'm happy to give you the YouTube links if you will) but as for sports cars, I haven't found any...

And no, I'm no big fan of heavy, leaf-sprung vettes...

  • Comment removed

  • People will kill me for saying this but I do kind of like Semi-automatic transmission (flappy-paddle gearbox) but I maintain that manual is better for a executive saloon or a family car. flappy-paddle gearbox comes in handy for cars that really want to rule the track, a fast gear change makes all the difference when racing even though most flappy-paddle gearboxes are not well made even the Germans have not perfected them...yet!

  • Just a couple of Brits bashing German engineering because the Brits forgot a long time ago how to build anything.

  • whats with all these kids thinking they can drive stick oh i have automatic and manual no pushing a paddle or stick isnt manual without a fucking clutch and a stick shift

  • manual is good when you want some adrenaline rush...

  • Manual FTW

  • Please God why SLR is not manual ?

  • This video is clearly made by someone who drives stick and is inept at seeing how change in technology is making cars better. Don't get me wrong I love stick cars, but taking small clips from top gear out of context is just dumb, and some of the info posted in this video is totally wrong

  • wow whoever made this video really must not like bmw, it makes it look like all bmw's are bad unless they have manual gearboxes. the fact of the matter is that manual is the best, but that people need to get what suits them the best, because average people arent going to be racing around on tracks "like their pants are on fire".

  • @RedskinsCZ

I own a 323i (E21) and currently also a 328i Coupé (E36), soon to go, though. Both manuals...

  • @alernest all due respect, i never would have guessed haha. i mean this video has nothing but bad things to say about bmw

  • @RedskinsCZ what makes it better? is it any faster? im 16 and my mom and dad own automatics and i feel like learning how to drive a manual cuz all my friends that "race" have manuals and laugh at me when i pull up in my dads automatic. but i just dont get it please help me :O

  • @afr126 well there are a lot of things to consider when choosing between the differant gearboxes, and yes, knowing how to drive manual will get you prestige among todays drivers as the manual gearbox is becoming a thing of the past (at least in america) and is less and less common of an occurance. it is however, a standard among racers (i dont suggest showing up to a racetrack without knowing how to drive stick shift) because it is the most powerful way to control the motor of a car. This is

  • @afr126 because you have direct control of the actions of the engine (what gear it should be in, and wat rpm's to put the engine at at certain gears). with an automatic tranny, you have a more limited control over the engine and the drive train because the cars computer will always be trying to choose the best gear to be in based on the amount of gas your pumping into the engine. this is bad for racing because the car takes longer to make decisions and shift, (and is sometimes bad at making

  • @afr126 these decisions, making it lesslower when racing). However in the case of this video, and all the special transmissions BMW has made, automatic/semi-automatic/and sequential manual gearboxes can be every bit as good as manual transmissions if you use them correctly, because of the meticulous engineering that bmw has put into their circuitry, they actually now get better gas milage than their manual transmission counterparts as they have less slippage on the drivetrain and resemble a

  • @afr126 manual tranny by using a clutch. also, you can program and configure features of bmw's special automatic tranny's to perform at levels that you would see on the same car with a manual transmssion. so in the end, you should at least learn how to drive a stick, and have the option to drive one if you need to, but you should buy a car that has the most convenience to you, and works best for you. but overall to answer your question, manuals are the fastest because you are in more control

  • @RedskinsCZ WOOOOOOOOOOW man i can't thank you enough for explain that to me and all the time u put in. im gonna do what u suggested and try to learn how to drive a manual to have that skill under my belt, o and of course to get the GIRLS!! :D SO THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

  • @RedskinsCZ no problem. haha ya i know i did type a lot.

  • Manual is for the win. I love it. My friend is 22 and he says he hates shifting and he's tired of it, i just shook my head. Driving an automatic takes 99% of the fun out of driving, just my opinion.

  • @b191191

I'm removing your comment because it is gratuitously offensive, lacks any reasoning grounds and it seems to reveal itself as merely an outbreak of hate. If you can later argument an assertion, without insults, for instance how you may lack the ability to operate a clutch and a stick at a fast and coordinated rythm or the like, we will be happy to chat with you...

    Cheers...

  • MESSAGE TO AMERICANS: YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!! STICK IS THE ONLY WAY TO DRIVE!!

  • fuck Jeremy, I spilled my cereals coz of his engine song at 5:12!!!! LOL!!!

  • Manual or sequential manual g-boxes re very good for any type of driving, race, weekly, anyday, and it's so much fun.

Semi-automatic g-boxes are faster, newer technology, for more power, for fastest racing cars and it's much simple to drive anyday.

CLASSIC automatic transs ARE PURE SHIT.

  • auto is boring. manual is fun. semi weighs the car down... rather drive a manual

  • I don't understand people who drive cars with an automatic transmission.

I mean how lazy do you need to be to avoid the much simpler, smoother and more effective manual to go and drive the much more complex, more expensive, more fuel consuming and not really a satisfying automatic transmission...

  • MANUAL FTW!

  • I like the simplicity of automatics.

  • automatic transmissions on the inside are very complex they take your horsepower by 10% and fuel economy too.you are lazy real man uses manual.

  • manual is fun ....automatic is easy....semi-auto is both fun and easy...

  • Yeah i have an 06 gto and the clutch on that is a bitch in traffic.... But you get all the rewards when the roads open up...

  • semi-automatic ok

    semi-automatic ok

  • @aeroboy17 true, a prefer a semi too

  • @HCNguyen86 you are correct, but if you are stuck in traffic for a long time that does take a toll on your leg. Also depending on what kind of car you are driving can make it worse, I would love to see someone push in and let off of a clutch on a Cobra for an hour and tell me there leg didn't start to get sore, trust me it's not an easy task, and anyone that drives or has driven one will tell you the same thing. But thats not to say I wouldn't still do it b/c I would still prefer the manual.

  • @jumar1281 It really depends on just how much traffic your in. If it's stop and go for the majority of the 2hrs then its not going to be too much fun for you or your left leg. alernest nailed it with his reply, I agree. I sit in traffic every now and then and it does suck but after that traffic clears then it's so much more fun. It also depends on the car b/c now a days with 7 and even 8 speed autos, the automatics can do even better with gas than the manuals. But in the end it's up to you

  • no problem; born and raised on a stick shift and traffic is no problem.

Anyone that actually complains about being stuck in traffic does not really know how to drive a standard transmission because it takes little to no effort to inch forward.

    automatic = lift of brake

standard = ease of clutch, depending on how far you wanna go no gas is probably needed in tight traffic jams.

  • we made machines for a resason. autoo is jus easy and manual is fun

  • I think auto, tiptronic, semi-manual or what ever you would like to call it will always be the fastest b/c humans simply can"t shift that fast. However I don't feel you always have to go as fast as the car can possibly go. I enjoy shifting gears and being able to do it all my self. It makes me feel more in control, thats why I will continue to buy manuals. In the end it's just a better driving experince for me.
