It is the UK Government's calling for a written account from both organisations and members of the public in regards to the current policy relating to the cannabis issue of legality/use.
All submissions are to be in Word format and not pdf format.
Cannabis is NOT on the Misuse of Drugs Act list because it's dangerous but because big business would stand to lose MILLIONS if it were made legal, and so give MILLIONS to Government to maintain it's 'illegality' status!

I just dont understand what harm an individual is doing sitting in their home smoking or eating cannabis. Even if you ate 5 ounces of cannabis, which is almost physically impossible, you would not overdose, 3 bottles of bacardi will put you straight into the casket though. I dont get it... really I dont. I agree with this video. Could you tell me the sources of some of your information though? I think in addition to the points made if we legalised weed we could focus on stopping the really dangerous class A drugs. Also if it were legal then we could regulate stronger variants that do have bad effects but we can't now because it is all done "underground". We could put a tax on weed so people can only have it in moderation and the money could go towards the NHS, police, education etc. Free weed!

@69salford69 thc in its purest form = 100% liquid if u were to have hash of 70 % u wouldnt have a solid material known as hash at best u would have hash oil witch varies from 30-60%. So to say there are hashish with 70% is plain retarted. At best u would have a solid piece of hash made with 60% of oil witch has 60%thc itself so the oil would only give u about an extra 36% of thc witch gives u an average of 50%thc total at best

Even in the netherlands( were u can freely buy u weed in coffeshop) its illegal to make hash oil with an higher thc lvl of 35%but to make it u would need basic products prohibited by the opium-1 law.U can check everything concerning hash oil in the opium law (dutch) the basic chemestry is easy enough to find just dont look at a site that sells books and viagra and poker ect like ur source u put up

= = Go to Amsterdam and smoke some "honey hash", just warm it up with a flame and it turns to oil in seconds and becomes like "honey" on your fingers. I've smoked hash with 40%thc because I couldn't afford 60%.
"Skunk" strains are nowhere near 40% THC nevermind 60%THC, so when you consider 70% THC has been reported in hashish, skunks 20% - 35% THC is a safer alternative.
I am not sure what those "some negative points when compared with alcohol and cigarettes" - a part from the law and what it has caused (contamination, for example), what are they?

What if the government un-decriminalise are we going to ask them to ex-undecriminalise it. In the regulation do i need a psyche test to see if i am eligable to grow it, am i required to class it as a business, am i forced to provide profit in taxable revenue. I want t grow my own medicine. Cannabis relieves my pain and discomfort without any kind of nausea associated with strong pain killers. Its easy to grow in a small garden and is cheaper than any prescription medication available.

According to the NORML Foundation, marijuana does not kill brain cells. There has been evidence of structural changes to brain tissue in some studies, but actual cell death was not observed.

Cannabis should be legalised on the Dutch type model and importantly have a minimum age lets say 18 years old to be able to get a draw. This is a civil rights issue. the Herb is one of the most effective anticonvulsant medicines that can be used as a treatment for many types of epilepsy

2)We have used cannabis as a herbal medicine for over 5500 years. Dated back to the egyptians, and also other civilisations like the Mayans (who did not come into contact with eastern homo sapiens for over 15 thousand years). Tibetan monks smoke hash before meditating and many practices around the world are shown to have used it.
3)I'm not denying that cannabis can be damaging, but the Pros do way out the cons, compared to tobbaco and alcohol cannabis has been proven to be more damaging. I think there is strong evidence to indicate that legalising cannablis would reduce drug use. Also it would be a fun and harmless drug to allow people to divulge in as an alternative to the problematic alcohol.

@zitianaki ............Well jobs could be created like shop owners growers and bar staff, also legalisation would completely remove limits on growing industrial hemp thus expanding buisness and No. of employees.. Also medicinal products can be made from cannabis. Just think you only need ten cities to have ten cafes with ten staff members to hit 1000. Also tourism would increase significantly with say a 'British Amsterdam', this would attract hotels, restaurants, general shops etc

i suffer with anxiety/depression joint pain and back pain i have been prescribed certain drugs by my doc but they dont work! i tried cannabis as a last resort as i know its illegal and guess what it signifigantly improved my quality of life compared to prescription drugs which didnt work and gave me a heap of side effects pretty conclusive if you ask me!!!!!!!!!!!

I just dont understand what harm an individual is doing sitting in their home smoking or eating cannabis. Even if you ate 5 ounces of cannabis, which is almost physically impossible, you would not overdose, 3 bottles of bacardi will put you straight into the casket though. I dont get it... really I dont. I agree with this video. Could you tell me the sources of some of your information though? I think in addition to the points made if we legalised weed we could focus on stopping the really dangerous class A drugs. Also if it were legal then we could regulate stronger variants that do have bad effects but we can't now because it is all done "underground". We could put a tax on weed so people can only have it in moderation and the money could go towards the NHS, police, education etc. Free weed!

@69salford69 thc in its purest form = 100% liquid if u were to have hash of 70 % u wouldnt have a solid material known as hash at best u would have hash oil witch varies from 30-60%. So to say there are hashish with 70% is plain retarted. At best u would have a solid piece of hash made with 60% of oil witch has 60%thc itself so the oil would only give u about an extra 36% of thc witch gives u an average of 50%thc total at best

Even in the netherlands( were u can freely buy u weed in coffeshop) its illegal to make hash oil with an higher thc lvl of 35%but to make it u would need basic products prohibited by the opium-1 law.U can check everything concerning hash oil in the opium law (dutch) the basic chemestry is easy enough to find just dont look at a site that sells books and viagra and poker ect like ur source u put up

= = Go to Amsterdam and smoke some "honey hash", just warm it up with a flame and it turns to oil in seconds and becomes like "honey" on your fingers. I've smoked hash with 40%thc because I couldn't afford 60%.
"Skunk" strains are nowhere near 40% THC nevermind 60%THC, so when you consider 70% THC has been reported in hashish, skunks 20% - 35% THC is a safer alternative.

What if the government un-decriminalise are we going to ask them to ex-undecriminalise it. Cannabis should be legalised on the Dutch type model and importantly have a minimum age lets say 18 years old to be able to get a draw. This is a civil rights issue. the Herb is one of the most effective anticonvulsant medicines that can be used as a treatment for many types of epilepsy

this needs to be decrimmed immediately, i can see how there's concerns about outright legalisation (because years of lies about it have infected many minds to think of it as a problem, and created an environment where some are attracted to drugs because they are illegal - which brings out the worst forms of expression), but growing it and possessing it (however much you want) should not be an offense. they could easily pass a bill thru saying so without rocking any boats.

I think there is strong evidence to indicate that legalising cannablis would reduce drug use. Also it would be a fun and harmless drug to allow people to divulge in as an alternative to the problematic alcohol.

Also medicinal products can be made from cannabis. Just think you only need ten cities to have ten cafes with ten staff members to hit 1000. Also tourism would increase significantly with say a 'British Amsterdam', this would attract hotels, restaurants, general shops etc

weed is GOOD for you, its less harmful than alcohol and cigs (plus more enjoyable) and it has some positive effects for example my lung capacity has increased, it cures my friends hayfever while hes high and a study i read a while back claims it may possibly be a cure to alzeimers (spelling?) as well as joint pains
i dont know how governments justify it being illegal to be honest...

yes people use it for medical purposes. personally i dont like the high i always get paranoid on the stuff and most the time i wait to come down ;p but imagine sitting in a restorant all smoking weed? or on a business meeting where you might have a glass of win. it does not effect you as quickly as weed does when you first start smoking. and alcohol and cigs are bad enough do we need to add to the list and make it more available? i can understand why its not legal but i dont agree with it.

I dont think it will ever be legal apparently uk already tried that and it failed but some functions like the strawberry fair everyone smokes it and the police are too scared to do anything because there is a field full of smokers and no one cares.

i suffer with anxiety/depression joint pain and back pain i have been prescribed certain drugs by my doc but they dont work! i tried cannabis as a last resort as i know its illegal and guess what it signifigantly improved my quality of life compared to prescription drugs which didnt work and gave me a heap of side effects pretty conclusive if you ask me!!!!!!!!!!!

To be fair, you're both wrong and right.
However, the potential for cannabis having physically addictive qualities is debated and the facts are not conclusive. But you can apply that same notion to many other commonly consumed substances.
Habitually smoking cannabis does instill a psychological dependance though and also negatively impacts on many aspects of everday life for some people.
Legalising it would have certain benefits but it would also negatively impact on society.
