If you read or listen to the lyrics the song is addressing the adverse and unrealistic effects that deifying people generates. I agree with that, it's never good to strip a person of their humanity by placing unrealistic expectations on them and reducing them to a genre.

wat ive heard is that him and Brandon were actually good mates and he wrote this song as a joke to brandon and he thought it was funny.. just wat i heard...
this song is called brandon boyd? this guy wrote this about his jealousy of brandon boyd. That's interesting lol. Came here thinking it was incubus. And I was wrong. I will be leaving now.
I went to school with both Brandon and Sacha. A message to you Sacha, the song would be fine, if you didn't literally refererence Brandon as "Brandon Boyd". You couldn't simply call it "Brandon". Kinda lame in my book. It's not really cool to put a literal face to the title. But if you feel it was necessary...
I couldn't tell you. I used to chat with Sacha and I asked him about it. I thought it meant that Brandon was one of the cool kids and Sacha was want of the kids being "kept in line". He got pretty upset that I didn't get it, and we don't talk anymore. I stopped listening to his music for a minute, but it's good stuff, and that was months ago, so I'm over it. I'm still not sure what this song's about, though.
This guy didn't went to school with Brandon, heard it from the man itself during a recent radio interview. He said that he didn't knew a man named Sacha Sacket.
So you are saying that Brandon Boyd can remember the name of every single person he went to high school with? I find that a little hard to believe. I cannot remember the name of 1/4th of the people I graduated with and it happened only five years ago.
i just read that he went to school with him but he didn't know him on a personal level or whatever.
now, this makes a lot of sense because the sacha dude wasn't popular cause he was gay or somethin like that and brandon was really popular so that's kinda what it's about.
Yikes look at all the haters! Ah well, it happens... The song is great, worthy of the repeat button... Nice to see some variations from the album version... Keeps it fresh! Keep up the good work!!!
so this song is basically saying he and brandon were the cool kids and were assholes towards other kids because in interviews incubus have said they werent bullied at school so i think it is saying that. I might b wrong but it sounds like it confusing and crap sorry to say
Naming the song after a semi-known artist with whom the singer has a tenuous past connection makes people want to listen to it b/c they think in some way they're going to learn about the essence of the title of the song... i really dig this song, though. reminds me of earlier radiohead. good voice. he has a little bit of the crazy eye, though, don't you think? he should cover "say it ain't so"
"The alternative pop artist Sacha Sacket attended high school with Boyd and was a fellow classmate of his. Sacket has a song, "Brandon Boyd", named after him on his recent album Lovers and Leaders."
If I remember correctly from talking with Sacha last spring they went to highschool together in California. The song is about those who are in the "in crowd" vs those who find themeselves on the outside for reasons beyond their control. In this case homophobia.
This song seems pretty sarcastic... i'm not sure how to take it... are you praising Brandon or criticizing him... my thought is that you have some jealousy towards him... bastard
He happens to know Brandon Boyd. This song is a bit of a catharsis, but you'd have to actually know the artist well to understand it. Just because you don't does mean you can shit on his music, dufus!
cud u please xplain? wat i get from it is definitley peer pressure, and insignificance, but i dont get where brandon cmoes in, is he one of the "cool kids" or is he one of the losers, who triumphs, and the song is saying not everyone will turn out like him...sorry if im completly wrong...
I'm Belgian, so i think it's normal that I don't get everything from the first time. I got that it was about peer pressure, but I didn't really get what Brandon had to do with it...

give sacha's music a listen. You won't be disappointed. He's really quite a brilliant musician.

Also, everyone who posted here completely missed the point of that line.

@clipwatcherx369 I really dont care about the point of it. I love incubus and am mad this wasn't incubus when I got here. So baaahhhh.

from what i've heard he went to school with brandon and always envied him for how "cool" he was.
He even said Brandon never did anything to him directly but he always felt like he needed to be like him.
I don't really understand since Brandon's lyrics are always saying do your own thing and you shouldn't mimic somebody else.
it seems really like he was insecure about himself in highschool and this song is just a carried on angst from his teenage years.
that though is my opinion

it doesn't sound like brian molko. and i can't see brandon being mean to a soul.

I'm sorry to say this but I don't get the song.
Are you saying that Brandon's one of the cool kids and he bullies the "not cool" kids? Or are you saying he's in the "not cool" department?
But good song, nevertheless. I just have difficulty whether this is a good thing or a bad thing about knowing or being Brandon Boyd.
