@HungHing101 Well, choreograph is one thing, but to film this scene in such a style (rain, dark clothe fighters, slow motion movements) is definitely too matrix-ish.
Can anyone tell me the name of a movie that shows a group of teenagers that fight. I remember seeing a trailer for the movie last year but i just can't remember the name of the movie. Also the teenagers are asian ofcourse, so lets not mistake it for a western style movie.
LOL @ all the fucktards saying it's too much like the matrix or Tony Leung isn't right for the role. You HAVEN'T even seen it yet. Don't judge a book by it's cover you dipshits.
um I have a question is this a real trailer of Ip man if it is I'm watching it if not then I don't know but I heard they willl make the grandmasters movie but I not sure if this is the actually trailer of the grandmasters 2012 and I'm wondering is the grandmasters 2012 film going to be a remake or the story of Ip man's life time continuing (sorry if I spell something wrong)
@tedc06 don't say shit if you haven't seen the movie, this took 12 years to shoot, because Tony Leung was also casting in other great movies like Hero.
Don't compare this with the previous films with Donnie which are undoubtly awesome. It's a Wong Kar Wai -movie so I won't expect it to be a typical action movie. As such the plot and role of Yip in this film probably require the acting talent like Tony Leung. Even if Tony isn't the martial art expertise like Donnie, I believe that he trained well enough the past years for making the actions scenes believable (When he broke his arm during the training, he didn't even rest & let it heal properly).
u would think they woudl cast a martial artist to play this role like previously play by donnie yen. iono, the trailer doesnt look that imprressive. too much camera movement and slow motion usually an attempt to make up for lack of actual technique. tony leung is a great actor but i dont think this role is for him.
@BloodyShanglong I beg to differ, From first hand experience working with Donny Yen, I found him to be more of a "learning on the job" kind of martial arts actor. He also refused to demonstrate his skill on me in a live interview, I find that very suspicious.....
I bet it'll be good. Looks sick, but I still like Donnie Yen as Master Yip Man. Although I won't let that stop me from enjoying this movie on it's own merit.
well from what i read tony has studied ip man's form of martial arts for 6-7 years and this is no actor faking martial arts he really can punch and kick.
I agree. I wonder who's next? If there should be any I think Wong Shun Leung should be next. Since Bruce Lee did credit most of his Wing Chun training from him. And he was infamous for all his underground street fights. That could easily be made into a great martial arts film.
look whos talking..there arent bigger copying idiots than americans...there almost isnt a single movie which doesnt have hundreds of remakes...and for the info, this isnt a copy from the ip man movies from donnie yen, its a new movie about the same person...

i feel that this movie will be less action but more acting than the Donnie's Ip Man ;]

Tony Leung is a great actor, but i'm not sure if he fits this role. Also, this is a little too "Matrix-ish" for my taste.

@VF5 it should be because the fight chreographer is Yuen Woo Ping. The Guy who rersponsible for The Matrix.

Kung Fu
Two Words
One speaks, one does?
Sit, lie down.
(not sure about this line...'Go back _ _ absolutely right') Is that true?
My Cantonese is not that great (2nd generation!)
