For those who don't know, a "B" movie is one that gets a maximum amount of money cause the backers won't pay any more than what they pay. "B" movie is not a rating.
The thing I like about this movie is the feeling like we're coming in on the middle of an epic story. There was a whole story of exploration and adventure before the splash-down and we are only given vague references to it. What happened on Venus. Were the Ymirs violent in their natural habitat? Answers are never given to the director's credit.
Note to those below: If I see a film I am interested in I first open as many windows as there are parts in it (your computer can handle it easily, just may buffer them slower) Then you won't be screwed if one missing or no sound.
Let me guess. The company that owns the rights to this movie agreed to let missclassics00 post it, but only if the last 30 minutes was left out, so that more people would buy the dvds....?
Well, personally, I'll just avoid missclassics00 posts for now on.:(
Saw this classic many times as a kid... still one of my favorites! Harryhausen's Ymir is one of the most incredible creatures he designed in his films! I've often wondered if he based his "Golden Voyage of Sinbad" winged Homunculus on the Ymir! Their physical resemblance is pretty close.
This is one of my favorite movies. I saw it the first time when I was seven on a Saturday matinee broadcast. I can't believe Harryhausen is still alive today.
I wonder how many moms named Sheila live in Texas and actually know who Ray Harryhausen is. That's too bad about Ray dying. I would have thought it would be all over the news. I don't remember hearing anything about it, even on the movie rumor sites I frequent. I knew about Stan Winston. It's such a shame that we've lost these pioneers in special effects. They laid the groundwork for everything in effects we love today. I hope James Cameron's Avatar expounds upon their legacies.
Sheila, according to IMDB, deadoralive and wikipedia, Ray is not dead! "Ray is currently serving as the producer of the Movie War Eagles which is slated to be released in 2010" Someone done lied to you. Go and punch them. Hard.
texas is a nasty and vile state...i wish all texans would die

Ray Harryhausen had quite an imagination. It's hard to believe he's still alive.

Crap! Careful, this guy only posted 6 parts so the movie is incomplete. :(

The first "B-movie" I ever saw would probably be this one and Godzilla vs Monster Zero.

WHAT a blooper! WHERE's the shockwave from the spaceship's watering? A true T movie, T for trash. Funny nonetheless.

@12rosebud12
It was only going 2 miles an hour, so there wouldn't be a shockwave ;-)

You've got to admire that Fredrico! "What are we children, or men of the sea?"

What kind of 50's sci-fi movie is this anyway? Flying saucers only appear over the american desert or Washington DC!

@davidrodgersNJ Well actually they fly over trailer parks in Mississippi and corn fields in Nebraska to.
