It's really refreshing to see Chicago from an aerial PoV, since I'm always on ground scurrying like a rat amidst the tall buildings. You never really see just how amazing the architecture is until you're either in the air or in the suburbs and you see the skyscraper landscape.

Btw, the Starbucks underneath the red building (I think it's Aon) has really cute baristas.

@asd36f I think it's Wrigley, since the flight seems to be going North by the lake (I think the CTA stop right by it is Addison on red). The tall, black triangle building's also right by the lake, standing very close to Lake Shore drive.

I love this city. the epitome of civilization and urban planning at it's finest. it's probably is the last great BIG American city. we don't build like this anymore. I would like to see more aerial videos of Chicago especially a much closer view of the much denser downtown area.

@jahnsmikey I never will call it the WIllis Tower. It is Sears Tower and no one is going to correct me whenever I get back there to visit. Willis Tower sounds stupid. They may have changed hands but I am not about to change what it always had been known as. The british own that building now from what I heard.

@Basim650 And also are you refering to the downtown area are the city as a whole. I don't know if you've actually been to LA but LA's skyline sucks along with having the 2nd worst behind Tampa downtown area I have ever seen. Downtown LA is like one big homeless shelter and is nothing to brag about trust me. It's the rest of the LA area that makes the city special because the city proper actually sucks.

L.A. skyline looks suckish because it's spread out. There are a lot of buildings, but they're spread out all over the city so the main cluster of buildings is unimpressive. You're right though, L.A. is all about the suburbs.

Toronto has a tremendous swath of shorter highrise apartment and condo buildings through the city and surrounding suburbs. I would not be surprised if metro Toronto *technically* has more "highrises" than metro Chicago, depending on the definition. Still, the CBDs don't compare. Chicago's is much larger and more dynamic.

Don't get me wrong. Toronto is a great city and it has grown dramatically in the last two decades. It's just not nearly as great as world class cities like Chicago.
