  • I can't believe that GrandLuxe Rail Journies is shutting down at the end of this year!!!!!!!!! That means no more GrandLuxe Express!!!!!!!!!!

  • Agreed though acturally they're no more. it's not the end of the year, it's already over. They killed it quickly. It was a fun train to chase & I'll miss it.

  • WOW!! I was there just last year from July 7th-Spet.29th!!!

  • Awesome shot, Greg! I don't really like Amtrak as much as I like the freight railroads, but I would love to see the GrandLuxe Express!

  • Forgot to ask: is the GrandLux scheduled to run again anytime soon? Sorry to be clueless, but I appreciate all the postings. Give your videos a "5" from me - great locations. I do pictures, and I plan to hit some of those locations soon!

  • Sadly the Grand Luxe's trips are finished for this year. They should be back again next year around the same time as this. This was one of two trips the train took through these parts this year. I believe they'll be making four trips next year.

  • I live only 30 miles or so from Alex City, Goodwater, etc. (Lineville) but didn't know about the AOE. Makes me sick to have missed it, but I love the vidoes of this and other sites you have shown. Trainman46

  • Very nice.....Can't believe ya made it!!!!

    Cary

  • Thanks to you fellas. I had a blast Cary. "The big one" is any day now so I don't know how much fanning I'll get in but keep those updates from the north coming. If I don't go to the train I can at least "catch" it on the scanner.

    Take care brother!

  • Let us know when the "Ball of Joy" arrives...and where ya'll have it...I might have to come down to auburn or "ALLBURN" ROll Tide baby!!!!!

    P.S.

You are going to raise that an Alabama fan right........

  • WoW

  • Lol! I take it you liked the video?

  • Totaly! Now I need to get it!

  • Good luck, especially if you try and chase this thing. It waists no time.

    Glad you liked the shots!

  • Thanks, I just have no clue when I would be able to see it. Do you know a site or something I can go to to see where it runs? Thanks.

  • And YES I did enjoy!

    VERY MUCH!

  • Good to hear! Thanks!

  • This is a great train, to bad it had to be led by Amtrash P42DC's. Awesome coaches! Great shots from all locations! I noticed a significant change in the weather.

  • Ahh, you see, I personally don't have an issue with them because I NEVER see them. The closest "Amtrash" is 100 miles from me.

She was a beauty and the weather was off and on all day. Overall though the shots came out okay.

  • Heheh, I just like to use Amtrash because that is what a lot of people say... however, I really am starting to like the railroad. Besides the "Pensylvanian" I caught on the Pittsburgh Line, I will probably fan the Corridor from Harrisburg to Philly, I live so close to it yet I never visit it! It has a lot of great spots.

  • dos dale and cery have a youtube acount?

    asome footej

  • Sure do.

    Dale= Stagmie

    Cary=Lovetoseesteam

You'll find them in my subscriptions.

  • Where does this train go from-to? It's operated by Amtrak? VERY VERY Cool footage! Definitely 5* for sure! Beautiful train!

  • Love the video, especially since it covers 3 excellent locations! I was just on the other side of the Opelika depot gettin' that NB CSX that passed shortly before that AOE. Then I walked to where the other congregation of railfans were.

    Keep 'em comin'!

  • Too bad Frankie. I wish I could have gotten the chance to meet you bud. If I had known EVERYONE was going to set up on the other side of the diamond, I would have come over there. I hope you enjoyed the area. Feel free to visit any time and good to hear from you!

  • Looks great. I like the shot with the old SOU cabosse!!

  • Thanks! I was wondering how this shot would come out. Too bad I didn't get a good set up with the tripod. I guess I'm my own worst critique.

  • Good stuff as usual Greg. I envy you dude. I've got to get me one of those cameras like you have. And a much better tripod!!

  • Let me know if you want some likns to where the tripod or camera camera can be found.

Slik is the brand of tripod and they sell the exact some model as the one I'm using now. Funny thing is my father bought this one 18 years ago and they havn't changed a single thing about it. I guess that shows the quality and durability of their product.

Thanks again for the complement! I wish I had more time to spend with you guys. Now thinking, I didn;t even get a chance to shake your hand. Take care!

  • The Crown Jewel! Excellent shots. Looks like you did some homework before you went out. Your choices of settings is great. Glad you had a good day with this one! Too bad the NS F units didn't show but you great video all the same.

  • You know it! I was wanting some more shots of this thing but it was really booking it and I missed out on a couple spots. Either way it was a blast to follow this thing for a bit. The F's would have been a nice touch but I'm quite pleased with what I got.

    Glad you liked it!

  • Really nice video, that train sure look sharp.

  • Thanks man. I was glad I had a chance to catch up with this thing.

  • Excellent catch, very nice job. You might want to fix your description "one tough cookie".

  • Whoopse, typo! Thanks man.

  • Sure thing, I've done it before.

  • Awsome shots! totally looked professional!!!

  • WOW. Thanks a bunch for the big complement.
