CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) bought out Leo Fender in '65. Many guitar players believe that the quality dropped after CBS acquired Fender, using cheaper parts and making certaion modifications to save money for mass sales.
From a collectablility standpoint, pre-CBS Fender gear is generally more sought after and worth more (depending on condition) than the models made during the CBS years.
Ironically, as logic & faith & common sense are set aside, Westerners have faith that immune-system-destroying irradiation & toxins are practical, therapeutically, in checking the proliferation of crab-cancer. Ruminants survive on grass, clover, weeds, shoots, sprouts, buds, leaves, seeds, etc.—all abound in Amygdalin, the molecularity of which is: hydrogen cyanide, benzaldehyde & glucose.
PIGS & REDNECKS—What's the difference between a redneck and a pig? There are many differences. A pig is a farm animal and a redneck is a Human Being. Rednecks wear clothes; pigs do not. There are dozens of other differences too such as the ability to: read, attend school, smoke cigarettes, use flatware, collect stamps, drive automobiles, etc.

@Jazz95Master it's not 93% of what they earned.....it is 93% "above a certain earnings amount"......so if the cap is 20 million dollars per year and one made 30 million......then they would have to pay 93% on 10 million
I play the guitar (somewhat) and can play zeppelin stuff, queen stuff basically all of hard rock guitar. To this day I have more trouble figuring out George Harrison guitar phrases & licks than other guitar virtuosos. Not saying I can play everything those great groups do is just more of a challenge to learn a george harrison lick. Wonder why?
Very nice segment. Altough Fender guitars are expensive, we are used maybe to watch them in some friend´s hand or live, but back then I guess watching a real Fender, any Fender, would be like watching something from outer space...nice interview.
I'm kind of glad he didn't get the Fender real early on like he wanted, since the Gretsch had a distinctive kind of a country-rock sound in the early Beatle recordings that made the lead playing sound unique.
it was just because of the look, john also used his ricky till almost the end, except the end when they sometimes used their gibson casinos (like the japan performances) and george used his gobsin sg live on 2 occasions.
actually he never played his fender live with the beatles, he used his gibosn SG 2 times, one was recorded (munich concert of 66) and one not (nme 66).
George harrison was such an amazing soul. Quite ironic for someone with a reserved personality to end up in the beatles. Anyway I don't think the songs would've sounded the same had they been played on fenders instead of gretschs. I like the grestchs sound better for that particular period, the early days. well is well ,i love the beatles.
What program is this clip from? I'm still rather amazed John and George would just send Mal Evans out to get their gear! I bet any music shop, or the Fender rep in Britain, would have gladly accommodated them so they could try out various models privately, away from the fans, etc.
@dumont1957 It's the 40th anniversary of the strat documentary. I taped it when it was 1st on the tele, watched it dozens of times then lost it. Its a great program and well worth a watch. Let me know if you ever find it on here or anywhere else :)
@dumont1957 Maybe they are glad to comp musicians now with the promise of a print ad by said musician but back then it was still a cottage industry. Tony Iommi played a Strat on one or two tracks from the first Black Sabbath album, The Strat got messed up in some manner and he had a back up with his Gibson SG. He wanted to use a Strat but in England it was difficult to get a guitar let alone a left handed one.
