  • Why don't you do it again with a tuned instrument? You're playing it very well.

  • @heinbanjo12 Thank you. :) Yes - I should do it again!

  • Nice!!

  • @JChoneybell Thanks!

  • Hey John - Just come across your video's. Browsing through them - your a fantastic player. That UB1 sounds really great

    Regards

    Matthew Richards

  • @m134mr Thanks, Matt - I appreciate it. I wish I had tuned it a bit more carefully that morning... :)

  • Great playing, great tune and great UB1!!

  • @norimak Thank you! I am completely out of tune, but appreciate it nonetheless! ; )

  • Sounds great! Saw a UB1 for sale locally and was sore tempted. Now how do you play that neat bit at 29-30 seconds with the right hand???

  • @ukulelemelee Thank you, Brian. Yes, UB1 is a sweet instrument - the fingerboard is SMALL. :) That stroke is called a split stroke. Its down-up-down, down-up-down, down-up. It takes a lot of repetition to get it, but once you have it, you have it.

  • Great sound.

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele thanks, Ken!

  • Wonderful! I love this tune.

  • @floydbluethereal thank you, Ralf. Much appreciated!

  • Really nice job, John. That Gibbo looks very nice, but what have you got on the bridge there? I can just see it under your hand!

  • @avon57 Thanks! wish I hadn't let it slide out of tune as it settled into the air conditioning, but that's what happens with a banjo. That IS the bridge; it's a carved hardwood bridge someone made for the instrument by hand, with round feet, each about the size of a dime. As soon as I can stretch a new head, I'll re-set the neck and put a maple Grover bridge on there.

  • nice 'un!

  • @UkesterBrown Thank you, Dave!

  • New uke?

  • @ExMfan No comment... Well, it's from the 20s but its new to me. :)

  • Great! And a really beautiful instrument, too.

  • @drbekken Thank you. It really is a nice one - very clean for an old uke! I highly recommend the UB1 for you especially!
