They didn't turn into bitches, but over the last years, bad experiences have led them to resent the fame more and more, as well as how some fans prevent them from having any kind of a private life... and they've become slightly paranoid as well. It's not all fun and games anymore, stardom is taking its toll on them.
How would you react if even people who are supposed to love you bitched every time you are caught lighting up or you turn up with someone of the opposite sex... or just
sport a new haircut. On Tom's blog whenever a new picture of him or Bill with a lady appears, you read tons of comments saying 'Tom, who the fuck is this chick?! She's sooo ugly!!'. At events and in airports people swarm around them, sometimes grabbing/pulling at them, showing no or little consideration for the human beings they are.. Of course that made them bitter to some extent, and it comes through in their general behaviour and the distance they now keep between themselves and the fans.
Disgusting how? It's easy to call people bitches and say their behaviour is disgusting,but you got to have examples to support such claims,or you're just bitching. Yes,they've all have their moments when I think they could put on better faces,but most of the time I find them very decent/pleasant. When you say you don't care about their private life,do you mean that no matter what they go through in private,you expect them to always put on their best face? If so,that is insensitive.
As for the music,I personaly think that renewing their sound and explore as they did instead of going for what would have been safe but boring to them was the right move to make. It proves that they make music for themselves first and that they keep growing as musicians.
The lyrics of course were very much about their own lives,so for everyone whose lives are more normal than theirs,maybe harder to relate to.. But that doesn't mean there's no feeling there, only that we can't associate as much.
Quite to the contrary,I try to consider all things that come into play here which could,if not excuse,explain their behaviour.
I am not one of those fans who see them as being perfect. they cant play i agree, but they are doing something right (hence the fame) they play together, which is more than i can say for other bands these days. they cant play i agree, but they are doing something right (hence the fame) they play together, which is more than i can say for other bands these days. They sing about things that everyone can relate to no matter present or past. the singers name is bill, sure he may look like a 'girl' but he probably questions your own sexuality. (; therefore you feel threatened because of that, or you are just a selfish bastard who feels so poorly about yourself you pick on the easy people.
