Yeah mingle, I remember Perq's also! Guy owned it back then. Remember the guy who did the posters every weekend? I believe his name was Eric, before I left HB he did a poster for me and I still Have it! Framed and in the living room. The sound at Perq's was great wasn't it?
This man has been of my favorites over the last few years. He doesn't stay in any boxes or forms. He plays what his heart feels, and that is what music should be.
if you ever get the chance to see him...don't miss it...the man is a genius and also a great bloke...after the show I went to he came and chatted to everyone..he gave my daughter the plectrum he had been using and the drummer gave her a signed drumstick...the whole band were pure class...this is my favourite song ever!
Walter is the best blues guitar player I've heard since Stevie Ray Vaughan. I hear and feel the same fire, heart, and soul in his playing and singing. Check out the video on here of him playing some Beethoven; it's beautiful!!
To [silkee59] - someone wrote this on your page, and after reading your comment here, I agree with them 100%.
"If you were a player you would understand..."
Trout is a GREAT blues guitarist, with his OWN voice/sound. That's what "players" aspire to - finding that 'voice inside' and letting it out. There IS no 'competition' among "players"......only RESPECT.
I agree, there some issues that only guitar players will understand. Its not the same just to listen the Blues that to PLAYING the Blues.....Walter T. is a great blues man indeed.
Walter Trout is a KILLER blues guitar player!!! I've only seen him once, but, I will see him every chance I get. In KC, the blues bar, Knuckleheads, is right on the train tracks. A train came up and honked it's horn and Walter mimicked the sound perfectly on his guitar! He can also use volume and wah wah to make the guitar "talk." He plays blues like it was meant to be played. Long live Walter Trout! Also, he's a very nice guy.
My favorite WT number! I've seen him live a half dozen times and I can say that this particular performance (of this song) is not his best. I was in the front row one night (10-12 feet away) and it was without a doubt the best performance I've ever seen - two hours worth. And a very personable guy I will add. He loves what he does and he does what he loves.
Really? This guy plays a ton of notes without saying anything. Typical white over the top blues. Go listen to the masters or the real deal playes who say more with one note. Check out Ronnie Earl Great tone and clean with much more feel. Your all missing it man sad
Umm sorry pal I do not feel this man is missing much...He has the blues voice and can straight up make that guitar sound on fire..The early boys didn't yet know how to play these notes
I had the good fortune to open a show for WT a few years ago with the band I was in. He and his whole band are fantastic people. Walter is truely the nicest showbiz person I have met, just a great guy!
wow what more do you want for power blues walter is 1 of the best can wait to see him again on octeber15th in st helens theater royal long live the zoo bar well done paul the zoo cafe bar is in st helens merseyside a great blues venue
Anyone who says Walter copies SRV doesn't know much about either one of those cats. Also, Walter's drummer, Joey Pafumi, could play his kit upside down like Tommy Lee and still kick ass. Walter's whole band is smokin'.
Hey jerkoff...I highly doubt Walter copied SRV. He played with Mayall, John Lee Hooker, and Percy Mayfield. But u prolly dont even know who they are. I dont think he was copying anyone that long ago. U must not have ever say Walter live. Plus why do u care what the drummer is doing and how its set up? I bet u are the next Dave Lombardo huh? Oh ya u dont know who he is either.
This is stupid. Walter Trout should probably try to find his own style of playing instead of doing what SRV did only shittier. And his drummer needs to set his stuff up at a comfortable height.
excellent video man. I'm seeing Walter this weekend in Dartford, England - my first time. How does Rick Knapp compare to the fabulous late Jimmy Trapp? i don't know much about Rick but guess he must be good to meet Walters standards. Thansk for the vid
Discovered Mr. Trout last summer on XM. Have bought a few CD's and really love his raw blues. He really enjoys his work and is a joy to listen to. Great job on this video!
This is a good one. I grew up in Huntington Beach , so we all heard Walter allot in the 80's. He played Perq's, a small little club on Main Street. This one is closer to the real deal than the other Youtube videos. thanks to the person who shared it.
You're welcome. :) I was standing right in front of him and I doubt there were many people in that club who were able to see Walter Trout without my camera in his face. ;)
i drove 100 miles to waterfrontblues fest in portland, ore. to see him. was blown away, got to meet and a autograph way hot
