Pink Floyd opened my eyes a long time ago, to the deep and intriguing music that is Pink Floyd. I haven't been the same since, and it was a change for the better, Floyd is my all time favorite band, and one day i will meet Roger, David, Nick, and Richard, on The Dark Side of The Moon!!!!!!!
hummm.... Is this comment to the video correct? Shouldn't it say "Waters and Wright on board" Was't Nick Mason on both of the last 2 albums? I don't think Wright was on Division Bell at all and he only gets secondary billing on Momentary Lapse (I think the reasoin was he was on the whole album). I'm not an expert on those albums. I'm an old school Floyd fan, hate the last 2 albums.
I hope that one day all Floyd fans will walk up to the gates that lead to the Dark Side of the Moon where all the Walls have been torn down and a Division Bell is struck as we convert ourselves from Animals into shining diamonds. I'll be waiting to see that Piper at the Gates as well...
@Floydian75 DAVE wouldnt stand for that..beleive me. But I dont think he is willing to reunite for a tour,..it wont happen...Mason is neutral..always was.
A guitar is much Like a woman. You have to hold her in your arms. You have to love her. If she feels right, then she's the one for you. You have to show her lots if attention and take great care of her.. If she becomes warped or twisted, you can remove her neck...
What could have happened... The death of Rick Wright killed a full reunion possibility, but it also may have inspired the rest to do some type of performance together yet. There will not be a tour, but they have become friends again so a charity gig with Waters, Gilmour, and Mason is possible; they already did one recently but without Mason. I see the three of them and Jon Carin doing a show for charity.
I saw Pink Floyd in Vancouver B.C. in 1994, their farewell tour as it turns out. I also saw Mason and Waters perform together at the Hollywood Bowl doing The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety and again saw Roger Waters last September on his The Wall tour. All I can say is David Gilmore should be ashamed of himself not agreeing to tour while Richard Wright was still alive. Everyone knew he was dying but Gilmore couldn't swallow his pride so everyone could be happy, including Wright & the fans
@jeffuryca Well I feel I must inform you that the Pink Floyd concert you saw in 1994 included Mason, Wright, and GilmOUR. And that Wright and GilmOUR did a couple tours together between that one and his death. And that GilmOUR wanted to reunite Floyd when Wright was still alive. Gee, who's name wasn't involved in those projects? Oh yeah... Waters. Are you sure it's Gilmour who needed to swallow his pride?
@InaGameComa Um, put down your Johnson & DaVIDS picture long enough to understand that GilmOUR was most recently, not in 1994, the LAST one to sign up for Live 8 & the LAST one to never sign up for the reunion tour which now, sadly, will never have Pink Floyd truly reunited as WrIGHT is now dead. MaSON, WrIGHT and WaTERS were all on board, which is what I was saying before you got all butt hurt. These are facts. DaVid is a GoD with the guiTAR, but dropped the ball on this one DumBASS.
@jeffuryca Let me just ask you one question. It's a simple yes or no. Are you familiar with the circumstances surrounding Waters' departure from Pink Floyd? I want a yes or a no. Anything beyond that will be perceived as an attempt on your part to dodge facts and make yourself look good.
A reunion is actually somewhat likely, we all know this. I just wonder if it would be the same without Rick. And a "The Wall" tour would be astonishing. Highly unlikely, though.
@slappydum Actually, if my memory serves me, Roger Waters fired Rick Wright when they went on "The Wall" tour in 1979. I remember seeing video and there was some bald guy who looked like Ben Franklin on keyboards, not Rick Wright. They sounded pretty good, so maybe it can happen. However, I agree 100 percent, would not be the same without Rick Wright.
I hope not. Rick Wright is da man! I love every Pink Floyd album except for The Wall and The Final Cut. If Wright does not contribute what is the point? The closest replacement to Rick Wright would be Eric Wolfson of The Alan Parsons Project who unfortunately passed away almost a year ago. Still there is only one Rick Wright. A one of a kind musician that can never be replaced and has a style that gave Pink Floyd it's beautiful, unique, and out of this world sound.
This all so very sad. Any hopes of reuniting PF has forever been quashed. The death of Richard Wright several years ago ended it at that point. Gilmour said it himself, he will never be able to play much of the music he had previously with the loss of Wright. I hate CANCER, it has stolen many of my own family and has silenced part of one of the greatest bands to ever grace a live stage. The man was the backbone of what was PF.
fucking clip this is a plain advertisement! what will be the fate of youtube music lovers if this kind of fucking clip is always here...we will definitely avoid this kind of stuff!!!
could've happened, man i dream of the remaining three getting together someday, maybe Harry Waters could help out on keyboards, ohh man i would die to see them together
It wouldn't be the same without Rick, he was truly 'the great unsung hero of Pink Floyd'. In my opinion, it was his style of playing keys that was the Pink Floyd sound, which probably explains why I'm not a massive Wall fan. But all 4 (even 5) of the Floyd made beautiful music when they put their differences aside. I will love their music until I die and beyond.
when the group disbanded roger was more involved in making music with social and musical quality content while David wanted to make the most popular rock was sold alone, but always sang songs written by Roger under the seal of pink floyd and that hopefully is coupled are grabdes haberce musicians and never had separately:) would be a great tour in music
After the Dark side of the moon album, Gilmour coauthors with Waters 7 songs, Wright one, the rest was Roger Waters. Yet Gilmour gets more recognition for guitar solos on Waters' music than Roger himself. When it comes to PF I think Gilmour gets overrated. Beck, Clapton,Snowy White, etc. can play Waters' music as good as anyone. I would love to see Andrew Latimer from Camel work with Waters. Some interest have been expressed in the past. Moonmadness would meet its Dark side.
@gozaderadrfunk I am sure there are alot of guitar players, even unknowns, who can play Gilmour's solos well, but Gilmour created the solo's. If Beck or Clapton were given Comfortably Numb without the solo and were told to write a solo, its gonna sound like PF with Beck or PF with Clapton, not PF. I like all the guys you mention, but Gilmour is the best fit for this band.
@specialross77 Give Roger's compositions to Andrew Latimer from Camel or Steve Hackett from Genesis and you will get great guitar solos as well. Gilmour is a great guitar player, but when it comes to PF Roger's ideas, music and lyrics are what made the band legendary. Comfortably numb is Gilmour's song to begin with so it's just natural that there's a guitar solo. Take Roger's lyrics out and what becomes of that song?
@gozaderadrfunk I see what you are saying. I think PF is a combination of all 4 members. Rogers writing is a huge element, but take the rest away and it is not the same. I have been to PF shows without Rogers and I missed his feel on the bass and theat manic emotion in his voice. Likewise, I have been to Rogers shows since his departure and it was hard to get past not hearing Wright and Gilmour. I think Gilmour writes great solo material, you just have to think "its not Floyd, Its Gilmour."
@specialross77 i could play any one of their tracks, probably any track someone throws at me in general. doesnt me i wrote it.. so yeah i totlly agree i hate when people say "its not gilmour " or whoever and bash it. it probably sounds the exact fucking same 50% of the time its just not the man who wrote it, and that changes absolutely everything
Im born into the darkest music time ever .... Where meaningless music rules the world and music's only hope (Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc.) are coming to an end or have already ended! I never got to see PF live :'(
Sadly even if they tour it will never be the same without Richard Wright. I have seen 3 concerts and each one better than before. No-one, but no-one, comes close to matching anything Pink Floyd did on stage. I am happy to have seen them and heard them in my lifetime.
I wonder why talents like Syd Barrett are lost in oblivion.
On a positive side if Syd Barett were in Pink Floyd we would not have PF's best : Wish you were here and many other songs dedicated to the lost diamond :)
@flirtindisguise Because SYD Barretts, and the like choose to leave us. Positve, we had the Pink Floyd we know and love. We won't see the likes of the group as a whole again. I still enjoy David Gilmour's music and will continue to buy as long as he plays. Will mis the great keyboard master Richard Wright!
@Rwareham1013 TELL HIM Rwareham. I don't know what the deal is. We enjoyed it while Waters was there and we enjoyed it when he wasn't. Sorry to say, but I was losing some interest until Waters left. My interest increased again and enjoyed more of the MUSIC..... THANK YOU DAVID GILMOUR !! MASTER OF THE STRINGS!
This was never going to happen. It's now impossible with the passing of Rick Wright.
These pieces of cheese should be deleted when they are no longer relevant. (The cheesey US narrator should have been deleted before he was able to spout complete bollocks on this, or any subject. But that is only my humble opinion
This video is outdated. Without Wright there is no real Pink Floyd. When someone asks"Which ones Pink?" It's not a question of David or Syd. I like both versions. When Wright is fully contributing it they were always in their prime. I loved all their albums except The Final Cut and The Wall which were way too depressing, whiney, and not near as experimental or original. Wright was the one who brought the emotion and beautiful erie sound that made Pink Floyd the greatest band ever!
@pinkfloydinspace Roger and DAVE together again is as it should be, end of story. They needed to put the 80s debacle behind them. It's sad we suffer from inband fighting as it happened with some notable legends
Well, looks like Roger is going to do a "the Wall" tour alone. No David, No Nick. You @#$##$%!!! You!, yes you three!, get back together now!! or...or...or....okay, I'l still see it. Damn it. You win again.
Me sumo a lo que dice @NadiaFranke ... estos tipos nunca deberían envejecer... Ellos deberían permanecer siempre jóvenes.. nunca se mueran /$=/"%="#"=/"#/°!!!
@deathstreaks your not the only one. the last floyd our (minus roger waters) happened when i was 1. the one before happened when i was like 3 or 4. neither was all members though. although i guess ive only been a fan 2 years, but i wish i wouldve sat down with dark side of the moon much sooner than i had. at least then maybe i could've seen david gilmours on an island.
Damn shame about Richard Wright's passing. Although there is no way it would've happened anyway. The only words Gilmore has been saying ever since Live8 was "ain't gonna happen." Which is kinda funny, seeing is it that's pretty much what Page said about a Zep reunion. lol
@maxcohen13 Dave and Rog were inspired by what Bob Geldolf had said, that a good cause is worth coming together for, and it broke the ice that needed to be broken
I hope they can make it to Australia(maybe not)in 2011 tour. But even they do i don't think i would see David and Roger together.Anyway i just have to wait and see otherwise you pommies have to lend me some money so i can see the gig in London.Cheers
2011! The Wall, one show with Gilmour, hopefully it will get recorded, if not I will effectively kill myself. Nick and Rog you can see getting along, though he's first to knock his drumming ability, I've always like Richard's keyboards, unlike Roger's feeling perhaps, but I felt it had more to do with Rick writing for the band, he can certainly sing!
@youbestbequiet I don't think Robert Plant is up for a tour as Zeppelin, he could invoke Page and Plant again, however, I got word Jason Bonham is reviving something like his In the Name of the Father Zeppelin touring tribute, with a show set for my State
@qwe09tube This is the very reason I want to see reunions happen and I'm first to say, the young fans can appreciate just as much as vet fans of the movement and music. They should have some idea of how great these artists really are. Even the Eagles touring still, I was able to get to see them and the WHO as well. Hoping for the Stones again, soon
@MetallicBill I'm afraid if you're going to 'appreciate' any of PF's music, you're going 2 have 2 buy a decent set of head phones & some CDs. A tour without Wright isn't going 2 happen. I'm content with Gilmour's singing alone. Hope he continues to sing. Out of the Blue and Island are beautiful ! SS u weren't around 4 the ride. U missed some GREAT music!
@1pinkintel Oh, I have LP, tape and CD, Sony V6 Studio headphones, and Digital SACD/DVD Audio playback, but the shows matter as well, Roger Waters Wall tour coming here!!
Did E.M.I. put out another 'Best Of' pink Floyd record ? ( or as E.M.I. calls it 'riding the gravy train' )

They can't reunite, Rick Wright one of the founding members and the true "sound" of Pink Floyd is gone. Peace Rick..........

As much as I love the band, I honestly don't want the remaining members to reunite.
I think Live 8 was brilliant and it should go down into history as the last Pink Floyd gig.

Gilmour said it himself, he will never be able to play much of the music he had previously with the loss of Wright. I hate CANCER, it has stolen many of my own family and has silenced part of one of the greatest bands to ever grace a live stage. The man was the backbone of what was PF.

Moonmadness would meet its Dark side.
gozaderadrfunk 1 year ago
@gozaderadrfunk I am sure there are alot of guitar players, even unknowns, who can play Gilmour's solos well, but Gilmour created the solo's. If Beck or Clapton were given Comfortably Numb without the solo and were told to write a solo, its gonna sound like PF with Beck or PF with Clapton, not PF. I like all the guys you mention, but Gilmour is the best fit for this band.
specialross77 1 year ago 2
@specialross77 Give Roger's compositions to Andrew Latimer from Camel or Steve Hackett from Genesis and you will get great guitar solos as well. Gilmour is a great guitar player, but when it comes to PF Roger's ideas, music and lyrics are what made the band legendary. Comfortably numb is Gilmour's song to begin with so it's just natural that there's a guitar solo. Take Roger's lyrics out and what becomes of that song?
gozaderadrfunk 1 year ago
@gozaderadrfunk I see what you are saying. I think PF is a combination of all 4 members. Rogers writing is a huge element, but take the rest away and it is not the same. I have been to PF shows without Rogers and I missed his feel on the bass and theat manic emotion in his voice. Likewise, I have been to Rogers shows since his departure and it was hard to get past not hearing Wright and Gilmour. I think Gilmour writes great solo material, you just have to think "its not Floyd, Its Gilmour."
specialross77 1 year ago
@specialross77 i could play any one of their tracks, probably any track someone throws at me in general. doesnt me i wrote it.. so yeah i totlly agree i hate when people say "its not gilmour " or whoever and bash it. it probably sounds the exact fucking same 50% of the time its just not the man who wrote it, and that changes absolutely everything

Sadly even if they tour it will never be the same without Richard Wright. I have seen 3 concerts and each one better than before. No-one, but no-one, comes close to matching anything Pink Floyd did on stage. I am happy to have seen them and heard them in my lifetime.
RIP Richard.

I wonder why talents like Syd Barrett are lost in oblivion.
On a positive side if Syd Barett were in Pink Floyd we would not have PF's best : Wish you were here and many other songs dedicated to the lost diamond :)
flirtindisguise 1 year ago
@flirtindisguise Because SYD Barretts, and the like choose to leave us. Positve, we had the Pink Floyd we know and love. We won't see the likes of the group as a whole again. I still enjoy David Gilmour's music and will continue to buy as long as he plays. Will mis the great keyboard master Richard Wright!

Damn shame about Richard Wright's passing. Although there is no way it would've happened anyway. The only words Gilmore has been saying ever since Live8 was "ain't gonna happen." Which is kinda funny, seeing is it that's pretty much what Page said about a Zep reunion. lol

@qwe09tube This is the very reason I want to see reunions happen and I'm first to say, the young fans can appreciate just as much as vet fans of the movement and music.
