  • What is going on? I can't pull up episodes.

  • Jamie Bamber! I forgot he was in this.

  • A frog disliked.

  • @DarthLegoMaster2011 Its similar to Hornblower, except instead of the navy during the Napoleonic Wars, its set in the Army.

  • @DarthLegoMaster2011: I thought he said vittles, which is a British English word for food provisions.

  • British Royal Navy was the best of the best back then :P

  • @riggerrogger101

    Still is.

  • we watched this in school. i love it :)

  • How in the heck does one get the name of "Hornblower"? Horatio sounds relatively normal but Hornblower?

  • Horatio Hornblower vs. Napoleon Bonaparte.... ohhh lordy, lordy,lordy....if only Mr. Hornblower was ever a factual real person, and replaced the Duke of Wellington as Captain Hornyblower for the English Campaigns at Waterloo and onward to Paris, this would be the battle of Legends and folklore and yadyadyada.

  • Hahahaha Horatio Hornblower who could have come up with that name it's like a joke

  • Americans will always know the UK as England. I'm sorry its just a quirk in our culture.

  • @Drunkkid69 Much the same way Americans "know" the entirety of the middle east as Iraq...

  • You couldn't be an officer in the Navy and have a showing tattoo! No wonder he was refused advancement!

  • fellatio horn blower

  • Suit me just fine if GB broke up. There's no reason it all has to be the same country, English are not Manx or Welsh or Irish or Scots. Only one of those groups is even historically English-speaking. English is an introduced language to all the rest. I grow tired of cultural Borgs, lemme tell ya. I love this series, though. Good story to go along with the eye candy.

  • Ha! It's Ross!

  • could someone tell me wich one is the first?

  • HORATIO HORNBLOWER!!! AND MR. BALLS! ahah my history teacher in 8th grade had us watch this and we couldnt stop laughing. ,mainly for the retarded names, and the fact that there was a giant spitwad in the middle of the Tv screen. haha

  • Aww, poor Horatio, seasick his first time aboard.

  • One of da best series .

  • Thanks for this. This was the one show all my family enjoyed. Bad news that A&E quit the series to make reality garbage like Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Hopefully, one day IG will reappear as Captain Hornblower

  • @MsTimelady71 Too true....the programming at A&E has gone to hell! Whatever happended to all the quality shows? I watched Horatio with my son who was 18 at the time and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! =)

  • @Ramona6

    18 in 1998?

  • @Isthisthelongestname Actually I meant to say 16 (in 1998)...he is 28 now, and we both still love Horatio! =)))

  • @MsTimelady71

    Dog the Bounty Hunter

    *vomit*

  • @MsTimelady71 Ms. From what I've read Ioan wants to do Hornblower as he ages and I'd love to see that. He said that he'd be willing to help produce it if I remember correctly and has been pushing for it. I really hope the BBC will consider it as popular as this series was and still is. I don't know how many times I've watched it since I discoverd it a few weeks ago. Why wouldn't they keep it going? Surely it would pay for itself easily. He's getting older BBC! A thumbs up if you agree please.

  • *Giant sigh* He's SO beautiful!!!!!!!!!

  • @CatherineMorland19

    Women, your so shallow ;)

  • Thank you very much for sharing this !

  • great serie I used to watched it in Europa Europa :) WOW he is hot

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!

  • You wankers, 1793? England? WTF? No Britain? No Scots to win your battles for you? No Scots to invent everythinjg from MEDICINE to BREECH-LOADING RIFLES? Read history BRAMBLEFOX!!!!!!

  • @locheelad2 You WANKER! It wasn't until 1930's that Scotland disagreed with England being known for the whole of GB. LEARN YOUR HISTORY SON! And, by the way, Britian is only Wales and England. Great Britian is Scotland included. UK also includes N.Ire and The British Isles is everything, including ROI. So, learn before you speak. As I said, it was NOT until much later it was politically incorrect for GB to be known as England.

  • @iago18958 Actually, that's a common misconception. Firstly official laws and treaties drafted after 1707 referto the entire kingdom as a variety of names, notably never just England. Brittia appears as a name for Great Britain in Procopius which was used by the 6th-century population of the Netherlands. Also it should further be noted Britannia is derived from the travel writings of Pytheas around 320 BC, which describe various islands as Britannia.

  • @iago18958 The original word for Britain serves as a source for the Goidelic term Cruithne and was used to refer to the early Brythonic-speaking inhabitants of the north of Scotland. Using Britain to simply mean England and Wales is unheard of. "It wasn't until 1930's that Scotland disagreed with England" There is no justification, evidence or scenario that validates that claim, indeed Scotland and England were known as North and South Britain for a period of time, this passed from use.

  • i like films that start with they hate him hes a joke then he makes them admire him yeah like that...just like sharpe good stuff we brits sure do it right

  • We started this story while in Burma, and then follwed it once back in America. Thank you so much for this post,!

  • Just out of curiosity, why is your name Bramblefox?

My name is Bramble, the fox is my symbol, and I love Horatio Hornblower! :-) Cheers!

  • Thanks for this!

  • ahhhh, the opening theme song brings it all back. love this series!!

  • hhhhhhhhm the captain looks like colonel vogel

  • Let me recommend the Gregory Peck version. Not knocking this one but the 1950 one is great. View it every few months.

  • "Welcome to faggotry!"

    2:10

I'd heard things about the Navy, but jeez!

  • @CatAtomic99

I think he said, "Welcome to purgatory!"

  • Ah! Excellent upload! I absolutely adore this series, just bought the first four episodes and have been obsessing over them for ages. Thanks so much for uploading! I've only read two of the books so far -- I shall have to catch up :) This is possibly my favourite and least favourite episode: I love it, but it's got Simpson ... (I was watching with a friend and I had my face buried in her shoulder half the time that S was on screen ... )

  • A brilliant series, just started watching them on DVD again. Just wish they had done one on Trafalgar.

  • 1 The Even Chance The Even Chance o The Duel 7 ottobre 1998

2 Rotte parallele The Examination for Lieutenant o The Fire Ships 18 novembre 1998

3 Il diavolo e la duchessa The Duchess and the Devil 24 febbraio 1999

4 Rane e gamberi The Frogs and the Lobsters o The Wrong War 2 aprile 1999

    5 Gloria e disonore Mutiny 24 marzo 2001

    6 Il prezzo dell'amicizia Retribution 25 marzo 2001

    7 L'onore è salvo Loyalty 5 gennaio 2003

    8 L'arte del comando Duty

  • Thanks so much. Great show! Loved the books and this is a good adaptation.

  • No problem! :D

  • @Bramblefox Thanks for uploading this! I loved the books and watched the show when it first came out. You are the admiral of youtube!

  • how dare he help himself to my viddles indeed! LOL

  • Hemingway and Churchill admired the books; now let me find out for myself. I have looked for Hornblower stuff for a long while, and I am delighted that you have posted these.

  • I didn't know that hornblower was posted on youtube, I just got the movies from the library. Great series, thanks for posting, and you guys should check ou the sharpe series.

  • I saw the Sharpe series just a few months ago! I don't own it, unfortunately (had to borrow it) but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • @Bramblefox I love the sharpe series i just wish they had put them all in a more affordable collection

  • Ah, I love this series. A proper swashbuckler with all the guts thrown in. Thanks for the upload;)

  • When did this series air?

  • It's great quality! Thank you!

  • You're welcome! :D

  • @nancysinatra88 I certainly agree with you Nancy about the quality of the pictures. I often think of that while I watch them. So clear and the photography is a work of art. BBC needs to keep this going with Ioan being an Admiral or whatever he'd be at his age. Of course he advanced early so maybe he'd be Prime Minister by now. lol You know what I mean tho'. Ioan wants to do it and has been pushing for it as I said in another comment. Come on BBC before he gets too old! And the others.

  • Is the guy who made the rude comment Paddy in Shameless now? Looks bloody like him!

  • I honestly could not tell you. But if you look this series up on Wikipedia and track down the actors I'll bet you can find out that way. :)

  • yea it's the same guy

  • @ProfessionalHobbit

    yes it is him :)

  • "as England prepares for war with France" I believe it was Great Britain, not England.

  • Oh? Well, considering that England was the most powerful country in Great Britian at the time, it might have been just England. If you'll recall, the Irish tended to be friendly to France throughout the turbulant years from the Revolution through the Napoleonic era.

  • Great Britain didn't work like that with one monarch, one government and one armed forces, it's all of Britain or none and on your last point, simply, Ireland was not a part of Great Britain in 1793... I may seem to be over-reacting just it irritates me when people ignore the past out of ignorance. Imagine GB as the US with its state system.

  • Ah, I get it.

  • Thanks for uploading anyway despite the error. I appreciate it.

  • England was the honor word. Like to say" England and home"even if your from

    someplace other than england because

everyone knew england. ask someone where the queen lives and they will say england not great Briton. its the English army. not the great briton army. its just

easy to say England but your right it's Great Briton the empire

  • Actually... it IS the British Army and it has been for centuries. I'm just saying the correct name is Britain. Look up on the British Army you'll see my point.

  • @mrgeorgeallison

I agree it the British army. just a lot of people say England when they should say Great Britain.

  • @whitetiger82821 I know that, that's the problem lol thanks for trying to help anyway.

  • Also... the ignorance of people doesn't make it correct.

  • @mrgeorgeallison England was classed as GB then. It wasn't until the 1930's when Scotland wanted independance that it all changed and GB was Scotland, Wales and England. But back then, it was commonly shorted to England.

  • @iago18958 "LEARN YOUR HISTORY SON!" I suggest you do the same and not pluck out arbitrary years to disprove people.

  • Awesome! Also wanted to suggest Patrick O'Brian's nautical series, very good reading and the movie wasn't bad. Also, read up on a real "Horatio Hornblower" that being Lord Cochrane as his real life exploits were simply amazing.

    Thanks for uploading!

  • You're quite welcome!

Lord Cochrane, eh? I've never heard of him, but I'll look 'im up. Thank you!

  • I want to watch all episodes, but which one do I watch first ? The duel or Fireships?

  • Watch 'The Duel' first. 'Fire Ships' is second. :)

  • Thanks Bramble, will do! :)

  • Glad to help! :D

  • Awesome, I have been reading this book, thanks for uploading!

  • Thank you! I've read the books and finally got the whole series a little over a month ago (which goes to say how obsessed I can be with Hornblower...)

  • Though he'd get disciplined for talking back at the captain, there's ALWAYS time for an ablative absolute. :p

  • Of course! :D

  • god horatio looks like a lost puppy when hes soaking :D

  • He does! I've never really thought about it that way before...poor baby. XD

  • take a week off work! wish they would bring it back to tv. sunday 8 would b ideal.

  • I've been having technical difficulties with my movie-maker program: see my latest video for the run-down. :D

  • thank you for posting....i hope you are able to post all the episodes....do you plan on it?

  • I'm planning on it. The reason why it's taking me so long to upload them is because it takes nearly an hour for each section to load...so it'll probably be a few weeks before I can get them all up. :)
