I'm A New Zealander and we call those "aussie salmon" Kahawai pronounced "car-why"..we also have real chinook salmon over here...it doesn't matter what you call them,they leave real salmon for dead when it comes to fighting abilities
You gotta love the yanks comments "everything should be like here in the STATES or your WRONG!!" Guess what, there are OTHER countries out there that have different points of view to you....they ARE Salmon, but different to your salmon, we get Bass here too, just different to your bass!!!!
I don't think I would be fishing a popper when you have fish around like that. Maybe it's not an Australian thing but I'd yoyo a swimbait down there. You would be catching them until your arms fall off. The bait wouldn't make it back to the boat
