@VegasTech702: I was less than a month out of having my CDL and had to go over cabbage for the first time, I was only hired to do Local freight and it don't snow in portland, got sent out to boise one night. I-84 was closed eastbound. Still went out, by the time I got to pendelton had to put on chains, pounded iron up cabbage and into la grande, took em off and slid my way into boise. Put some hair on my chest. never been that scared in my life.
Going up and down cabbage in Oregon with a full load of potatoes and less than a month out of school with snow, rain and icy conditions... It definitely makes you earn your pay and puts your training to the test. That being said, what better job to have than having an office with a view that is always changing?
First job I had was driving for Builders Transport Inc and I pulled a skateboard for 3 yrs for them. Then Timberline Transport for 4yrs Then D m Kaye and Sons for 2 yrs Then PFT Roberson for 4 yrs. So Been there done that But I got smart. Produce pays really good and at 25% of the gross and Company Pete Loaded Screw a flat bed.
Exactly!! This separates the the want-a -b's from the real drivers. Get in the hammer lane and drive. This snow storm is nothing. You can still see the fuel island
AHHH, spending a winter night at the flying hook, done it many times, the noise was his engine & the heater fan. unless you got one of those expensive heater/generator sets, you got to run the motor to keep warm.
i will not do flatbed, because this one guy told me that he knew someone that pulled flatbed,he was tying down a strap and the strap came loose swung over and broke his jaw and knocked him unconcius.
oh yeah there is we are swamped and not lying we are three weeks behind on moving logging equipment. and iv never really seen one i think they are similar to a van trailer

Yes, frozen tarps are hard to fold, the deck is slick, & shoveling it off sucks.
