@dzava Maybe not his brother - Could be no relation to him at all - like his ex-wife's brother in law (her new husbands' brother, daughter's step-uncle), or his brother-in-law (which is her proper uncle). I have a cousin who was adopted by my grandparents - he had two children to two different mothers at the same time (within weeks) who were both adopted by one of my aunties - he is now their father, uncle and cousin all at the same time!!! Ain't relations fun?!
Les Paul's Signature "The Gibson and Epiphone Les Paul Junior" line of guitars is totally awesome..........and I AM TOTALLY SCHOCKED why Sir.Les Paul aint on da top 10 or even the top 50 guiarists of all times.....look that neat guitar playing in his age.....he must hav been at least 70......HES GR8.....SALUTES SIR LES PAUL.........
Ever notice how He seems to get younger looking when he's playing? Music is more than sound... it's something from somewhere else... and there is power behind it.
6 people need to have their heads checked!!!!! les was an awesome guy and a gentleman, very very funny guy and sooo humble!!! i had the pleasure to actually meet him and let me tell you i shook his left hand in hopes that some of his awesomeness would rub off on me!!! R.I.P. les you are missed!!
And for you techno types, this was the first multitrack recording on magnetic tape (the original of course). Les over dubbed 8 separate tracks. Hey, inquiring minds want to know these things!!
Les Paul not only recorded some fine music, but he was instrumental in the design of Gibson's electric guitars; built his own designs in his own shop, had a sound-on-sound recording studio when there weren't any sound-on-sound studios yet, and also invented some really wild echo, reverb and speeding-up octave devices that worked in real-time. He even had one little sound-on-sound device he taped to one of his guitars, so as to use it 'live'. He was one crazy cat and will be missed.
This blew me away - 1st year anniversary of Les Paul's death (is there a better way to put it??) coming up. Will be catching the tribute at the Iridium Jazz Club (where Les Paul used to play) on 49th.
@ engelundgeister: Thanks a lot for this statement. You're right. You've taken the words right out of my mouth. For me, this chap was veritably the best guitarist ever - classic, jazz or pop. Whether there'll ever be another remotely approaching his quality?
Love how he plays the song this time round. The original is great, but this time its like he's reminiscing on his life with the guitar in a single song.
I am ashamed to admit that I have never, before, heard of Emily Bear! I shall have to do research, on her, especially since you are so enthusiastic, and complimentary! What I love about this piece is that it sounds as good, today, as it did the first time that I heard it! Funny how "classics" never fade!
This guy is amazing. I'm a fan of more modern stuff, and I still think this guy is amazing. My grandmother let me borrow one of his old records, and after listening to it, I think this guy definitely deserves all of the fame he's earned.
I've heard of his influence and his work, but never took the time to sit and listen to his brilliance... man am I sorry, I've watched this among others and I can say that I can see why so many guitarists cite him as an influence. Sir Les Paul, you have my respect, God bless and may you Rest In Peace.

Marvelous stuff! Under the same heading, Les Paul collaborated with Chet Atkins in the late 1970s. They put out a couple of albums. Look for the title "Guitar Monsters," if you're hungry for more.
The Stratocaster debuted in 1954. '57 is a benchmark year, for sure, just as 1959 was for the Gibson signature model of Les's. Les and Leo Fender were good friends for many years, BTW....I can only aspire to play my LP(or my Strat, for that matter) half as well as it's namesake did.
@dzava yeah and elvis presely`s log was sold for about 11.000 pounds by the hotel cleaner who went to clean his room and realized he didnt flush the toilet
@mojo1229 Im sorry... it was 959 000 dollars which is the highest price ... the second one was ES 335 for something over 800 000 and SRV Strat was another high priced guitar
@mojo1229 Yo, not to be a dick, and anybody else who reads this I do like les Pauls and this isn't against them or anything, but go look in an encyclopedia. You're gonna see a strat. And another thing, once the 60's hit, most guitarists used the strat for versatility. the les Paul is a great guitar, but a strat can do more. Not to mention, I know alot of people who didn't know what a les paul was until I brought it up to them
Les Paul was the Guitar Man. Rock and Roll was "allowed" to come about because of his hot-cat playing. Eddie VanHalen even said he owes all his licks to Les. One in a million.
