  • This demo has a different version of "New Bodhum" playing at the start. Anyone know if it's available anywhere?

  • titan vs atlas.. epic win

  • yay towns!

  • @VimcentTrevis thats how its been in every ff game. -_- go to abilities and choose which ones to use. and btw, you should learn english. "thats all the game!" doesn't make any sense.

  • @minininja820 Sorry for my english, but i'm Italian... I just mean that in the other ff you had to think on a tactic while you were choosing the abilities, now it's only "attack" and "cure" and then the IA does the rest! This system honestly is incomparable with the others, but how I said it's only my opinion... If you like it I'm happy for you...

  • @VimcentTrevis that's what paradigms are for. strategizing which paradigm you should use, when you should use them, and what roles you want in them...

  • @minininja820 That's right! I'm only disappointed because the game was to easy! I have always considered me a hardcore-gamer and so for me easy battle are boring... And I also prefer a better storyline... This one was nice but not as good as di other FF... But i think that's subjective...

  • this battle system is shit...

  • @VimcentTrevis nope. it's the same as EVERY other final fantasy. you still have to wait for your turn. the only differences are using monsters (which really is a great and innovative idea) and that you can only control one character at a time. nothing bad about it.

  • @minininja820 But this is nonsense! The battle are too easy! There is no tactics in it! You only need to push the "x" botton of your pad and, sometimes, switch to a cure formation... that's it! Where is the challenge in there? It's only... boring... This is only my opinion, for example my sister found this Battle System good, because she find the other system a little bit difficult... I simply didn't like it in comparison to the other FF battle style, no more and no less!

  • @VimcentTrevis it's like i said. NOTHING FORCES you to just push the x button. if you want to go choose the commands yourself, go ahead. more power to you.

  • @minininja820 Oh yes... go to abilities, go to attack, press "x" many times, than repeat this for hundred times and if you are in danger press "L1", switch to cure formation. go to abilities, select cure and press "x" many times, than switch to attack formation and repeat that again. That's all the game! Now changes 'everything'...

  • @VimcentTrevis I used to think the same thing -- for the first 12 hours of FF13. Then the game got way more complex the more job roles you unlock. The game went from just hitting X over and over again to switching stances every 20 seconds. You become very involved.

FF13 had more glaring problems than the linearity: Forgettable music, cliche story with characters who are constantly saying "glittering" and "meaningless" things about hope, and very poor character pseudo-customization.

  • @VimcentTrevis and if you're complaining about it because of the auto battle option just know that NOTHING forces you to use auto battle. you can go through and choose the commands manually every time if you want.

  • Umm is it me or did that tomatoe fight for them?

  • Whats the song playing at 3:54 called?

  • Thank god the areas look less linear!

  • i Love the fact that they made a sequel =D

  • FF7 is my fav and this looks to be my second

  • @ValentineBSAA I can agree with that.

  • @mujuma correct serah isn't lightning, but she does have lightning's blood in her and we all know lightning is kick-ass and she' the strongest character in FF. Yes she is u FF 7 & 8 fans the makes said and Caius is equal strength with her so that means he's the stronger than sephiroth haha i just luv FF13!!!!!

  • I'm glad Square is making this game less linear, that map was a pretty good one. Also, they are making it so you can switch characters you are controling in-battle. Go FFXIII-2!

  • Wow Preemptive strikes look hella easier now

  • Wow look at that map, FF 13 would have been a perfect game if they didn't have such linear maps. I'm glad to see they perfected this game :)

  • random person: i almost feel like im in a movie

me: yes almost. a game is what you are in random person XD

  • I think Final Fantasy 12 for ps2 was the best final fantasy ever the fighting system was pretty good and the swords and all that

  • I think Final Fantasy 12 for ps2 was the best final fantasy ever the fighting system was pretty good and the swords and all that

  • oh he is very poor 0 GIL LOL

  • this game looks really good. i loved final fantasy xiii and i'm looking forward to this game.

  • I DIG the battle music. xD

Oh and the rain droplets on the camera is really...nice and intriguing. xD

  • finally towns make a return

  • watch the people who hate the music get the soundtrack secretly. I think its a nice twist to have to a series that is FF. Trying accepting change for once instead of bashing something thats new. I also find it funny that many "fans" complain about no difference in the series and when change happens, they dont want it. Makes me wonder, what the hell do u want? What exactly is a perfect FF game? Dont say VII because that was perfect either. No game is perfect.

  • @DreadFones wasnt*

  • @DreadFones True. By the way, those who complain should try the game Persona 3. They use rap and hiphop and it still is one of the most popular games. And the battle theme litterally ROCKS. The violins were nice but didn't really give you the kick of a battle. Been looking for it but all i get is lightning's theme so does anyone know what the title of the battle theme is?

  • @Emvidasch i love Persona 3. I think the soundtrack in it was good.

  • music still makes me want to puke

  • This game keeps getting better and better :D ( the music sucks tho ) lol

  • Monsters as guest party members? Instant win! With all the new stuff on here I don't see why all the fanboys are whining and crying over every little thing. God...just enjoy the game for what it is instead of what it's not.

  • where is snow?

  • @Azill17 Snow went off to find Lightning and went missing

  • Other than focusing on Serah (she just isn't Lightning...), having to put up with a damn Moogle (not cute, annoying), Rap music (I just can't get over the fact it's in a FF game. Oh and it's terrible) this game has many interesting features...

I think I read you can go back in time and re-do levels, theres a Mass Effect like convo. system aswell (I'm not 100% sure) and multiple endings plus new game +

Hope it pays off, I'm pissed at some additions but interested in most of them.

  • My quesion is were is Snow in all of this arent sarah and snow suppose to be married?

  • wow i knida enyoing whit that rain on ur screen u agree?

  • Nole is a traveler from the future .. the future he came from was completely destroyed and in ruins .. so he has traveled to the past seeking a way to change that .. its kinda like the 3rd birthday story huh .. aya using overdive to change the future .. but i really like it .. especially with hope confirmed .. and the Rap music is so cool as long as they keep it under the story elements (i mean not to sing rap about drugs and sex , cuz thats bullshit)

  • @OXG2221 In the Paradox fight, I picked up on a few lyrics, he said something like "This is the path that I must take" or something like that and I love The 3rd Birthday, it was the reason I spent nearly $200 on a PSP. :P

  • @xNe0my yes and also said in the fight "paradoxes must break" and thats more than fitting the story and th fight .. and about the 3rd birthday .. it worth that 200 :D

  • @OXG2221 I'm sure I heard he's from Valhalla, where Lightning is (along with that other guy who is mean't to have some connection to Nole).

The rap music, imo, is horrible... It doesn't fit at all... Not only is it a Final Fantasy game but it features in Boss Battles? what the hell were they thinking...

Bayonetta had a odd arrangement of Music, Japanese Pop influenced with Jazz in an overthetop gore-fest of a game, but it sounded good and the Boss Themes were the greatest... ever.

  • @mujuma oh come on .. i know that some late boss music are cool and awesome .. but this Rap is like .. singing one winged angel .. except that this time its in English .. as you see .. Square has already done this before .. except this time they did it in more modern way

  • Noel's voice is teh sex

  • The music is weird in this game. Like super trippy, cybersonic, rap crap lol. Hopefully it's not all that bad.

  • Noel <3

  • All final fantasy's have had really music sound tracks. Sadly enough this game's music is really really REALLY crappy. God I hope they change the music for the us release or give us an option to remove the music. This being such a nice looking game with great combat system it would be a shame to ruin it.

  • The music is not good

  • Is it just me or does Noel sound like Jason Marsden? Maybe its just me since I've watched Lion King 2 a few times since thursday, and a bit of Xiaolin Showdown. He just gives off major Kovu/Chase Young vibes thats all. =-P

  • Was Noel, Fang's brother? I've heard people talking about it. .

  • @yukiharvestfans nope. absolutely no relation to fang at all.

  • @Charla029 I see. . But now I have herd new rumors about him, which is Noel might be the same person with Squall Leonhart, and he might be from future or from the past. . Bla3 Idk and have no idea about him. . Guess we have to wait for the game to come out first. .

  • Holy i hate this guy's voice. He sounds liek the guy from Spirited Away, and all the other movies.

  • I like how the characters actually speak to each other in the field this time, rather than giving short statements about the scenery. Makes their relationships feel more realistic this time.

  • IF they keep this music in the final verson i hope there you will be able to turn it off, i prefer the orcstra doing their music. fits in way better with the game itself

  • What happens to snow and serah?

  • @CV63USSKittyHawk Read the Final Fantasy Wiki, or Game Informer, past characters will come back, although I really care less if they don't, also I could less if they put Snow in, never really like him, and of course she is still wearing his necklace, so that answers that question.

  • @CV63USSKittyHawk in the epilouge book they got married and started to live on pulse together, this game is 5 years after that book

  • Lucky this is a demo :) cause if this is the real game sound track. i'm going to buy the CD and rape it

  • @OhMaGewdNess ...umm, I don't want to know what you do when you buy video game soundtrack CDs.

  • Thank god we can finally run in more directions then one, lets hope that this isn't just the only place where it looks to be open. I want shops and npc's back!!!!!!

  • @Tomduff24 There were NPCs in XIII. There weren't a lot and you never really "talked" to them, but there were still NPCs.

  • Do I hear Rap in the music ...... ?

  • I hope DAJH is a playable character... it IS 5 years later..

  • who voices noel

  • @shauigi3 dont know but whoever he is needs to take acting lessons

  • battle music is awsome

  • Since its raining water spells may be more powerful! when u bring up the big map it shows climate type then the ICON so pattention to that!

  • It would be nice if Squareenix released a demo or something for us to play.

  • @Shadowcatdoll09 be fuckin patient

  • @Cabal1011 Calm down, all I said it would be nice if they released a demo not hurry up or something.

  • The addition of rain is great, looks really realistic graphics wise. I'm definitely giving this game a chance, the first was great and I hope this is even better. With the addition of a dark theme and mystery things will be less linear than the 1st game. Can't wait!

  • On the map it say gate, there prob could be used 4 backtracking

  • and i just noticed that the music in the background has words.

i hope theres not a lot of that in this one

  • @michaelbryant21

come on! the lyrics in the song have something to do with the moment of the game

at least the lyrics don't say fried egg fried egg or it's party time baby! let's to fuck! xD

  • I hope Noel is some how connected to Snow cause I really liked Snow and he is kinda replacing him which will make me hate him:(

  • @CloudStrifeComplete noel is replacing fang for obvious reasons not snow

  • so all the songs in this game have people singing now???, I Mean thats kinda wierd and different...

  • The music theme of the battle is awesome ! ♥

  • It looks to me like they fixed allot of the cons of FF13, they added cities, more npc's to interact with, full maps, and im guessing much more! I hope this will get better ratings than FF13 did and I personally am definitely going to get it :D cant wait.

    plus lightnings in it sooo.....

  • They should allow online gameplay for FFXIII-2.

Like group quests and PVP battles and such.

  • @Twilightoutcast97 No, an MMORPG for Final Fantasy XIII-2 would suck luck XIV will, Square-Enix should stay on the Single-Player mode.

  • I hope the Crystariums are more expansive in XIII-2. I maxed everyone in XIII and did everything in the game in half the time it would take me to even get half way in one of the first 9 FFs.

  • Oh I'd also like to point out how awesome the fast paradigm shifting is. Before when I was low on health i had to switch to Double healing or whatever and they hit me as i was before i was done switching -_-

  • 8 Crystogen points? Either they suck at awarding (cuz that first battle was very fast) or the system is different... I still liked XIII and am looking forward to this game

  • @mikejones1989 it suppose to have the same victory music its a good thing that they didn't change that. It is part 2.

  • Same victory music? WTF?

  • Need to be able to switch control over to Serah, Noel is weird :x

  • "This rain isn't artificial, it's real..."

Wait. If they saw Pulse ABOVE them in the earlier vid, then the hole in Cocoon is facing down towards Pulse, so they're upside-down in Cocoon...

So how is the rain getting IN?

And furthermore, how is the gravity still retained in there without the fal'Cie?

  • @DrakeDraco2000

good question about the gravity seriously xD we will have to wait until the game come out

  • @DrakeDraco2000 Maybe it's the paradoxes?

  • Is that shitty Engrish music (2:33) meant to be the dungeon music? Wow. Battle theme sounds fine, nothing great. FF is complete shit without Uematsu.

  • It looks really weird. Only character i recognize is Serah xD I can't wait till it's out :D But I only don't like the part that you don't really see the enemies, too easy preemptive strikes are too simple and the battle is easy. Other than that i like it.

  • @ 1:06 at the bottom left corner third in the row were it says 8% is that how much story you have completed because if that is so than i think this game might be short just like X-2 i want it to be longer D: it looks really awesome lets just hope there side missions and a lot of them :D

  • @TheInfamousVideo X-2 techincally wasnt short if you did 100% of it. and this demo is a lil ways into the game its not the beginning.

  • @FreyaDiamond ohhh ok thanks ^^

  • @TheInfamousVideo I think its map completion cause it has a little map icon next to it and i hope its not as short as x-2 as well and lots of side missions would be awesome

  • ugh...i wish they would bring back nonchargeable health or at the very least a level system, but if this new style works then there is no complaints here

  • @blackshot Theres no point of briging back nonrechargable health.

    1. Because its just more wasted time in the menus

    2. In older FFs you could heal you party outside of battle with magic (cure) but it costed MP. Since you have no MP then there is really no point.

  • @iCyFlaMeZ96 I see your point and without a level system, it does eliminate the grinding time, but I would think that without nonchargeable health the game might be a little to easy. (I've never have FF XIII so I am a little ignorant on how they made the game)

  • @blackshot there is a level system

  • square: here's one we recycled earlier

  • My only gripe is the music.. is it the same guy who composed most of the music in regular XIII? The music seems a bit outdated.

  • @Kokoro562

same guy (Masashi Hamauzu), plus two other guys, Mitsuto Suzuki and Naoshi Mizuta.

  • @Kokoro562 Music is awesome and unique. Not some piano'y bullshit like always.

  • @Fujindansen

rather the usual stuff which is actualy good than bad new stuff :)

  • HOLY SHIT MOOGLE!

  • The battle theme makes me feel like I have to fight quickly.

  • THANK GOD THERES WHOLE BUNCH OF NPC, FF13 was kinda boring because you dont have much people to interact to. BTW, this is the sequel to FF13 right? correct me if im wrong.

  • Even though I hated FF13, I'm willing to give this sequel a chance since it actually looks like an improvement. I just hope there's actually towns to explore, and being able to switch between characters in battle this time.

  • @FREAKFANATIC XIII's battle system is better than all the previous. I rather have hectic exciting button mashing battles and have to stay one character, than boring yawn-fest turn-based battles.

  • @gidlike

lol so I'm guessing you are a noob at RPGs then, right kid?! FF13 battle system is inferior to previous FF games. Even FF12 has a better battle system.

  • @FREAKFANATIC Obviously YOU'RE the noob if you think X, and 12 had better battle systems than 13. End of story.

  • @gidlike

okay, would you care to explain how FF13 has a better battle system than FF 10 and 12? "Cause I could give tons of reasons of what's wrong with the battle system in FF13, and I hope they adress them in this sequel.

  • @FREAKFANATIC Dang you soundin like a DUSTii one

  • @FREAKFANATIC Like really. U soundin really really Dustii, Like get A life dang wipe off that DUST

  • @iCyFlaMeZ96

The hell is that even supposed to mean buddy?! Damn, your puny brain must lack the knowledge for giving good insults considering you replay to me twice. XD

  • @FREAKFANATIC Sorry my brain was a lil Dustii at the time

  • @FREAKFANATIC I wouldn't call it inferior. Different yes. I personally like the new system as well

  • @Ak47x360 To me it wasn't. I mean c'mon, most of the battles were very easy, escpecially since all you really have to do is use libra and use auto battle and the game will pretty much play for you. You couldn't change characters between battles and if that character dies its game over even if the others are fine, you call that a good battle system?! Thankfully, Square Enix has listened to many of us who hated FF13, so hopefully many or at least some of the issues will be fix for this sequel.

  • @gidlike You're so right! this FF has the best battle system.

  • @gidlike

LOL.... Yeah because never having to press anything but the X button is SO much better than turn-based combat and so NOT yawn-inducing, amirite?

  • @Str8Murder Obviously, you didn't play the game through if you think you can beat it by using auto-battle. So your comment is irrelevant.

  • @gidlike you clearly haven't played all of them....

this is no different from turn base....

  • @Rei00000 This is vastly different from turn-based battling. Your enemy in FFXIII will attack regardless if you choose to attack them back. I haven't played 12 or 11... but in FFVII, VIII, IX, and X, you can have a staring contest with your opponent... LAME.

  • @gidlike

but the lack of urgency is still there. given they can kill you. and if you played IV, the system is similar but controlling everyones attack and theyre attacks are timed aswell. still, at least you control a party a lot more liberal. i hope we get more control in 13-2.

  • @Rei00000 It just that every new Final Fantasy will have new way to play it. . Just imagine if this Final Fantasy XIII-2 have the battle system same with the I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII etc. . LoL there will be nothing new about this FFXIII-2 just the story that new that's it. . Well there is always the old games of Final Fantasy if you don't really liked this one. . My Opinion, SE, SHOULD change the battle system everytime the newer version of final fantasy comes out, not sticking the same

  • @yukiharvestfans

i personally think they should change it to agree where it's more interactive, or attempt to at least add in a new feature that keeps you thinking. turn base may haven't been a preference....but this game only makes half a step towards that direction. turn base calls for more strategy as it allows the freedom to think, the game takes that aspect but then mixes it with action, so it's mix of the lesser traits of the two.

  • @Rei00000 that's for you, personally perception

  • @yukiharvestfans

    this is getting bias now.....

you can state yours and not be called on it, but when i make my opinion it's put on the spot?

  • @Rei00000 to put it straight, everyone DOES and can to give their own opinion. . Like I said before, it's your personal thought so was mine. . Just opinion though. . One more thing I want to ask you, If you're saying that I'm love to bashing to the other people thought, wasn't you the same? Everyone do that and still you want to question about it? I'm not saying that you can't state whatever you have in your mind. . I'm just want to agreed with @gidlike 's points , can't I?

  • @yukiharvestfans Are you kidding me? Have you even followed the information? There's loads of new things about this game - multiple endings, choosing dialogue in cutscenes, those paradox puzzle things, monster allies - the battle system from 13 has been vastly improved and refined, too. This looks like the ultimate final fantasy game, the only concern I and many others have is over the potentially bad story, but im holding off judgement on that until i've played the game.

  • @TheAvidGamer91 Lol that's true and I'm surely know about it already. . Of course it have a lot of new things like the mini games and such but I would gladly not to waste my time to explain it to that person. .

  • @Rei00000 Some people enjoy the ability to sit back and think up a strategy to overcome the tough-ass boss. But i prefer the on-your-toes, figure-something-out-quick fights like during the eidolon battles. However, I do agree that the party leader shouldn't be the only controllable character and I'm sure the company tried to mix it in with the paradigm and atb system... but it's a small loss compared to how exciting the battles become in XIII.

  • Its Chrono Trigger with a Final Fantasy setting. Also, random encounters I've missed you.

  • 200th comment! Yay!

  • noel looks alot more like serge in chrono cross. hes only missing the red bandana on his head lol

  • TIME PARADOX!

Lightning you've created a TIME PARADOX!

  • something to do with the moogle i think

  • Superior PS3 quality.

  • huh?...at 3:16 they have some kind of monster....can you summon now or what???....it would be awesome

  • Is Serah really 23 years? I'd guess about 15.

  • @madapocket Some people are just naturally really short though, even at 23. I've met plenty who look older/younger than they actually are.

  • Is it really that easy to get PreEmp strikes now? And hopefully you actually get gil for winning battles now..

  • @loser9ifcation but the fal'cie are still around on pulse so there would still be l'cie running around

  • @MrStraw77 noels obviously one

  • What the hell are psicom doing there. they got fucked over in 13

  • @MrStraw77 if you remember they evacuated the people from cocoon at the end of the game.

    so they probably reformed it..

    maybe?

  • @MrStraw77 remember they weren really bad guys, they were just soldiers following orders, remember lightning saying that like a billion times, yah thats true, with dysley dead no one controlls them anymore

  • I looks like you can switch between characters issuing separate commands using the triangle, square and circle buttons, finally have common sense for this now

  • huh...is it just me, or is the battle system is similiar to Square Enix's "The Last Remnant?"

  • @DimsceneRX no where near. The Last remnant diksallowed you from actually picking commands. The only similarity is the mog clock and even that is totally different from the Aggro pull in TLR

  • I love how the raindrops hit the camera.

  • @AnimeFox09 and when water splashes onto the screen when an enemy hits the ground near the screen.
