do akitas shed alot? Even if its not yet their time? I mean do have heavy shedding like twice a year but what about in between? Do they still shed a little bit of fur?

@JosherBoy24 My experience: they shed all over the year with the exception of a week in the winter and a week in the summer.

it's 2 different breeds:

Just "Akita" is American Akita and "Akita Inu" is Japanese Akita :)

@topherhotshot96 as far as appearance, American akitas tend to be a bit bigger and more bear-like. Sometimes, they have shorter snouts as well. Colors for the American akita vary more than the akita inu. An akita inu will usually be more giant-fox-like in build, so a bit more lean (unless they're lazy and get chubby like mine did) with a longer snout.

@topherhotshot96 : Inu means Dog in Japanese. there's a breed that's got nearly same out look with Akita called Shiba which is smaller than Akita. check them out on youtube :D

btw, American Akita's usually black + white whereas you will find Jpanese Akita's always orange (sr for bad English)
