I wish more people were aware and/or would accept that in all the recounts that were ever done, Bush STILL won Florida.

I had forgotten that Gore presided over the official tally in Congress. That must have stung but good for him for following through. I assume he could have sent someone to take his place and arranged to make the vote official without actually being there..

Equal protection must be the standard. You cannot have some votes in some precincts counted in one way, and then votes in other precincts counted in a different way. Thankfully the US Supreme Court stepped in to protect equal protection under the law.

There had to be a fair and equitable count of the votes in Florida or else the rights of some voters would have been violated. By the time the US Supreme Court got involved, the Florida Supreme Court had already wasted so much time, that there was not enough time recount all of the votes in Florida, as Bush wanted to do all along. The votes decided the President, not the court.

Voting isn't about picking favorites, it's about picking who you think will run the country the best. This video has a MAJOR error. The narrator said that 5 of the Supreme Court justices had been appointed by republican presidents and 4 by democratic presidents. That's false.

At the time of the Bush vs. Gore case, 7 of the 9 justices on the U.S. Supreme Court had been appointed by republican presidents. However, 2 of them turned liberal after being appointed by republican presidents. The only two justices on the court appointed by a democratic president were Bill Clinton's two appointments.

A lot of people don't realize that Al Gore would have won the election if he had simply carried his home state of Tennessee. Tennessee gave it's electoral votes to Bush. Gore would have still won the election if he had simply carried Tennessee. Something is seriously wrong when you can't even win your own home state. Even Walter Mondale won his home state of Minnesota when he was crushed by Ronald Reagon in 1984's epic landslide election.
