  • there are Fat Cats in ICTU too. ICTU calls off national strike 25/03/2009 13:00pm! pot kettle black. So lets make a move on all fat cats. ALL.

  • i wish they were pussy cats! then they could just do "sardine bailouts" and fat cats would be happy! its a shame the world isnt run by pussycats! its run by ruthless bankers with no souls and the souls of the dead await them for all the wars they create!! and innocent people they indirectly killed!!

  • Many thanks to everyone - both private and public sector workers - who turned out in such magnificent numbers on Saturday.

  • i was there on saturday - there was a fantastic turn out and an even better atmosphere - great to see public and private sector workers united in protest rather than divided as ibec would have us... workers united will never be defeated!!!!!

  • I WAS THERE - GREAT TURN OUT...

  • what planet are public servants/unions on? 320,000 private sect unemplyeed, private sect pension wiped out by 33% on average. Widespread paycuts and payfreezes. If public sector workers won't even contribute 6% toward their guaranteed pensions- then what are the willing to contribute?! The ESB helped by taking a 3.5% pay increase. Fat cats?Hundreds of civil servant earn over 250k. RTE pays a talk show presenter and radio DJ 4 times and 2.5 times the salary of Barack Obama. BOO HOO!

  • Why do you think things will be better for you if you can bring me down after you? Remember who brought us to this pass. It wasn't public servants.

  • Who said anything about bringing you down? Your attitude of being asked to contribute (and by a very minor amount at that ) speaks volumes of what many, including myself, have come to expect from the public service. Ironically, your attitude appears to be no different to the bankers- "screw the rest of you, give me my money, I'm entitled to it and let someone else pay"

  • I marched with 120,000 others on Saturday and I didn't hear anyone say they weren't prepared to contribute their fair share. Comparing a council worker's wage to Pat Kenny's salary is pathetic; and all the more reason why a TAX would be more equitable than a unilateral pay cut.

By the way, we were applauded along the route by ALL and pretty soon it became obvious that the march was bigger than just us -- it was an expression of anger at the total mismanagement of our country.

  • I'll be there tomorrow but that's utter garbage.

  • Madam guillotine has the answer when it comes to fat cats.

  • How dare Anglo Irish propose to write off €300M in loans to the so-called "Golden Circle"! This is our bank now and it is outrageous that these bastards be let off when ordinary schmucks like us would have the sheriff sent in if we defaulted on a repayment.

  • Has anyone noticed how ALL the IBEC requests have been met yet NONE of the union concerns have been addressed? In true Thatcherite style, FF feel they need to break the back of the unions so they can further loot public funds. I'm just waiting for Ms. Harney to tell us to "eat cake".

If we don't want to end up with an Irish version of the British miner's strike, it's vital that we storm the Bastille now and reclaim power for the people of Ireland, not just the wealthy and their lapdog FF party!

  • Did only one miner strike?

  • glad to see someone is showing leadership. We all need to get out there on the 21st and let the govt know that we have had enough of being treated unfairly!

  • Good video.

  • excellent video - will see you all on saturday!
