What u said about 1 philosophy and "a" sense of discipline would be like he's "just" into Karate or "just" into Kung fu.

He even stated himself there's no art stronger than the next. That's why he combined the different arts and formed his own method of fighting known to the World as "Jeet Kun Do". Don't get it twisted JKD isn't a style, it's a method, a concept.

It is a combination of techniques, but developed out of his own research. Mixed Martial Arts is just a generic term, the name, Jeet Kune Do ("The Way of The Intercepting Fist") has deeper meaning to it.

in martial arts there is more than just learning the refined arts of combat,

through one's constant struggle learn to be clear of mind and fight only when necessary (there is no pleasure in combat, only necessity). These are just a few of the universal principles of discipline in Martial Arts.
