My mum is desperate to get this film on DVD. Does anyone have the complete digital file so I can put it on DVD for her. I must admit, it was an amazing film with amazing music.
I was lucky enough to see Cliff when he did this show in the West End. The music was fantastic. I do have to say that he did over act it a bit....but still worth the price of admission. Oh and for the record....the beard and hair were real. He grew it out for the show. One more thing---I am American....and went over just to see this :)

A tricky one. The live CD is brilliant and cliff does the charecter justice. However, the dvd was awful. Cliff overacted to the nth degree. They should have just recorded the live show
Pathetic ! Heathcliffe was supposed to be a rugged, handsome, charasmatic, virile, YOUNG gypsy lad ! The COMPLETE OPPOSITE of Cliff ! ha ha ha. He certainly was not an elderly, over the hill 60 year old with stick on whiskers and a padded jacket hanging off a skinny little frame ! For goodness sake people....the songs are AWFUL and the acting is as wooden as my aunt Fanny's table. And what about the accent ! He sounds like JETHRO after 9 pints of cider ! HA HA HA HA HA..... SO AMUSING......
The music is good and I've this is the first I've heard of Cliff Richard and he's got a good voice, but he can't act.
Plus the opening scene looks like a poor imitation of Le Temps des Cathedrales from Notre Dame de Paris. It isn't of course because Notre Dame de Paris came out about seven years later, but if you just watch it you'll see what I mean.
Thank you for posting this, i was supposed to go see the live show, but went into labour with my first born (1st of 4!!), i love cliff richard, I am 35 and have always loved him, there is just something about his voice and this adds another domension. So again, many thanks. xx
Thank you so much for uploading this. I fell in love with the show when I first heard it and I managed to find it on VHS at a market but don't have a player anymore :(. Flaw to every plan lol. Cheers.
I don't understand how anyone could hate this! I Remember reading the original book and seeing Wuthering Heights 1939 film and I loved them and this is also amazing! It does the original justice I think! :)
He has a g8 voice live. To all his critics stuff you this man has been in show business a long time and he is not gay he brings a lot of happiness to a lot of his fans Just leave him alone
i've got this on video but no longer have a vhs player lol. i pretty much grew up watching this film when i stayed with my gran a lot :D this and the films like summer holiday
While other parts of the world may have more Cliff air time, for deprived Americans, especially those of us who love his music, this is a treat. Like Sean Connery or George Clooney, Cliff just gets better with age. I should hope to be as active, still using my creative juices, in shape, and one fraction of the humanitarian Cliff is when I am his age.
@lewisandtolkienROCK Don't be ridiculous ! How can you possibly compare Sean Connery and George Clooney to Cliff ? That's like comparing Timmy Mallet to Laurence Olivia ! heh heh heh
Had to Google Timmy Mallet. Oh, my dear, there's no comparison. Maybe those who adored Cliff when they were young and who get such rare, rare glimpses of him just see things differently? But now I know who Timmy is! :]

I think he did very well in this. I have heard something about this but couldn't find it till I looked on You Tube. Thanks for posting. I live here in the States and wish they would air more of his material.
Unfortunately, while visiting my aged grandmother at her nursing home, this rubbish was on the television. I had to sit through half an hour of this mind numbing drivle before the old folk demanded 'Westside Story' be shown ! Ha ha ha, that REALLY made my day ! Some of THEIR comments regarding cliff were hilarious but much too disparaging to repeat ! :)
Disillusioned twat ! An old, scraggy 60 year old trying to play the part of a virile, young, gypsy rogue? No wonder he had to stump up all the cash himself ! Against all the advice, Cliff's egotistical, narcistic, self serving personality saw him indulging himself in this ridiculous attempt at acting ! If you want to see a memorable version, I suggest you buy the Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon film instead of this twaddle. Makes a mockery out of an outstanding piece of literature. Horrid !
This musical is amazing, but Cliff really is a rubbish actor and doesn't suit the character at all. I suppose for publicity's sake and the fact that he wrote all the songs that he had to play the lead character, but he spoils it for me.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
For goodness sake! This idiots offensive display of superiority and self importance knows no bounds! Ofcourse he was too old to play Heathcliffe! Heathcliffe is supposed to be a virile, young, handsome rogue gypsy, not some 'over-the-hill' scrawny neck little bible bashing 60 something! Against all the advice this egotistical narcissist stumped up all the cash in the vain attempt at becoming something other than he is. A pin up for the blue rinse brigade! ha ha ha
My mistake. I was there amd saw it a number of times. Always loved it. And to jaine000 I am not a grandma. And at Cliff's concert I have never seen that famous blue rinse brigade. I guess that it is a joke invented by the media or other jealous people.
I agree with your comments entirely that Cliff Richard should never have attempted this,or at least not to have portrayed himself as Heathcliffe. But your comments, insulting him as nothing more than 'A pin up for the blue rinse brigade' are really out of order.
Yes, I have always loved it too. It is amazing the way Cliff´s appearance has been changed for this role. He is a legend. A true performer. Love him!!
is there a soundtrack to this? i used to watch the video when i was little n loved it, we got rid of our video n theres no dvd. thanks for posting this its an awsome musical
The soundtrack box set was a big seller, and there is also another CD of the songs. The soundtrack is a live recording of the show, it's excellent. I looked online and there are several available on eBay etc.

Great work.
I first caught the live show at the Hammersmith Apollo in 1996. Bought the VHS and had to get it converted to US Standard which really came out badly.
The DVD has been out of production for years and is not available unless you want to pay an outrageous price for it.
This kind of archiving does a great service and memorializes some really good shows.
In 1985 the wife and I saw Cliff Richard in "Time" the Musical - I just wish there was some footage of it out there somewhere.
