  • i got a 383 with AFR 235s with a 850 holly, im at 460hp and 490ft lbs. My compresion is right at 12.5 to 1. My best run was 11.2. With a few more mods to my c10, then ill be running 10s.

  • Hey, man, your car is very impressive. I have an 89 into which I'm throwin a 355 Vortec, 2800 stall, and a Turbo 350 3-speed to get more power to the ground vs the 700R that robs more power. My question is, do u know what the widest size tires I could slap on the rear are, and what offset I would need to prevent it from looking like a redneck farm

  • Bet your faster then 12.9. These cars don't come close to 3600lbs maybe a vert with driver does...get some traction and gears if you dont already have some and hit the track youll be surprised

  • @roody2222 OK, a milisecond of brake since I was sitting there in gear, big deal. I also wanted to load up the converter, the brake was off before the tires started spinning anyways.

  • About 106 MPH on street tires, with a 3600 lb. car that calculates out to about 400HP depending on transmission losses. An stock 02 Z06 with 405HP weighing 3150 lbs. runs a 12.6-12.7 for comparison.

  • Inspirational Dan. I'm putting the Magnaflow cat back on mine as soon as it arrives to my otherwise stock 89 IROC. Hmmm...your video makes me want to petition the Mrs. for the extra coin to just add a 383 now.

    I assume you're running headers through a similar catback type setup? ..or do you have true duals?

    Sounds and looks awesome. Nothing sweeter than the 'sleeper' IROC that will pull 12's.

  • Yeah, unfortunately I'm running through a single cat-converter and a relatively cheap Dynomax exhaust. Magnaflow is a good choice.

  • sounds the same as me, i got a 383 stroker in mine but with the stock exhaust only headers. im tryin to find a good x-pipe system to fit mine.

  • dude get a set of tires and run low 12 high 11s .my 1990 irocz does not have 420hp . all it has done is a 267 cam sports man 2 heads and a exhaust and it runs 12.8.only makes about 318hp and right around 393ft.lbs

  • Slicks would go a long way. I don't go to a stip that often, I like road course track days and now autocross events.

  • well they are kind of rare, since 1990 was a shortened production year, simply because the Iroc name couldn't be used with the Camaro anymore.

  • 1990 irocs are real, they were all built in 89 for the 90 model year, only irocs with airbags and the yellow interior things, no irocs were built in 90 because dodge had bought the iroc name and raced daytonas instaid of camaros

  • i just bought an '86 iroc, didnt even think about airbags until my dad said something about it, but with the amount of solid steel in the car, i dont think i would need airbags if i hit a newer car...

  • you might consider lowering your gear ratio. I've seen a LS1 Trans Am with headers, cam, drag slicks, and lower gears, thats it. The car ran mid to high 12's. For a small block, and 383 stroker is a torque monster, you could really rip it with a lower gear ratio.

  • No stock/production GM 383's ever made - they are stroked 350's. However, Mopar did build a production 383 - it was a Big block though ;)

  • invest into some street legal drag slicks with one line in the middle of the tire. Mickey thompson makes a drag radial that is 10.5 inches wide and will fit on that camaro. I have an 89 RS with them on there with a 383 also.. 4:10 posi rear end.. Its my drag car, needs more work,, thinking about shooting it with a 75shot so I dont blow up the engine since its not built to run nos

  • what trans are you running??? with a 700-R4 you can run 4:10's on the street, if you're running a 5 spd i'm not so sure

  • Its got a Pro-Build 700R4 for 500+HP. I've got the stock 2.73 rear end still. I like getting 22MPG on the freeway.

  • thought it was a high rear. if you've got the torquqe... why not? on the street you have 2nd when a 3spd auto has drive with 3.73arond 70... and you walk his ass. cool clip

  • Headers would give you a good bang for the buck. Otherwise maybe a cam, heads, or modified intake.

  • i would say go out and buy a good fuel pump/regulator, retard the timing a bit and then run some nitrous. thats the BEST bang for your buck. my uncle had a olds. with a 350 chevy in it and ran it on 150shot everyday for 2 years. all he had was a good carb, pump and timing was perfect. thats my advice

  • Lingenfelter 219 Cam. Intake 219, Exhaust 219 @ .050" lift. It passes California emissions.

  • I just ordered a stroker kit for my 79' camaro. I'm going to find parts for a new long block, and hopefully get betewwn 350 and 400 horses. the funny thing is, it's my first car, I'm only 17. It's going to be a little bit of a health hazzard on the road. =D
