@snowboard4lifecorey head to the front page of our channel, and you'll find the Great Lakes Steelhead and Salmon Fly Rod Selection video. That'll answer all your questions!
i have always regular fished for huge pike and walleyes because i basicly grew up on a lake in the middle of nowere, i got into trout fishing about 4 years ago and my friend wants to take me steel head fishing, my strongest rod is a 5 wt, from what i can tell, steel head are tricky fish is a 5 wt ok
@flytyerman a 5wt might be a little light for steelies bud. The main problem you will find is you'll be fighting the fish longer than you need to. That'll put alot of stress on the fish if you plan on releasing them.
the other problem you might have is that you may end up busting the rod fighting a larger fish.
great video,i live on long island and i just started fly fishing and i was wondering if you knew which flys and fly fishing supply's i should get because to me alot of the flys iv seen onliine all kinda look simalar. PLEASE HELP
Great Informational video! I've always wanted to catch a Steelhead! Rarely they will come through the creek I fish in, and i always wanted to hook one. Thumbs up!
The only time I lose a fly is when it gets snapped off when i'm casting. (about every other cast)

@Joey22496 thanks man!! They're tough fish to catch when you first start targeting them, but after a couple they come much easier!
