What the hell was the point of that. You just destroyed two perfectly good trucks for what? What exactly did you "prove", that you morons can smashie smashie perfectly good trucks?
Type I is a conventional truck chassis with a box mounted to the back. Type III is a modified van chassis where there is a walkway between the cab and the passenger compartment.
@fordtruckman80 That is by far among the most funny car related humor!
The way the front of that pickup just compresses slightly and then rams the middle of that ambulance like a milkcarton makes me reconsider being an ambulance-driver. Or I would have to sit at least six feet of the ground but that would have repercussions on the general aerodynamics of the vehicle.
This is why ALMOST every EMS agency uses truck chasis lol. I think the only agencies that by van chasis is transport agencies, I THINK, and those only apply to BLS transport I believe.
too bad that ambulance is old as fuck, the new ones arn't a front and a cab, there all pieced together so this doesnt happen

@USMC3531tsd the point is it was a crash test for safety. The channel name ParamedicSafety kinda lets you know what the point of the video was.

Wow, I thought these would collapse like a Kleenex box.

All three types have their advantages.
Type I's usually have more load-carrying capacity.
Type II's are more manueverable on narrow streets.
Type III's generally have more working room in the patient compartment.

whats the difference between type 1 and 3?

@rocksparadox Please reconsider, because we're called EMT's, Paramedics, and First Responders. NOT ambulance drivers. :)

this is why the FDNY uses pickup chasis, twice as safe as van chasis.
timrusty 4 years ago
that was a pickup chassis. ford f350 series. the van would be e350 series
