This was Thanh Lan at her ;prime. Nobody could hold a candle to her when she was at her best. Even now, in her 60s, she's still very beautiful & has remained quite active to this day as a performer. At her live shows nowadays, I've seen her do mostly songs from the past due to requests. Well, I wish folks would request her to do this song more often, instead of "La Plus Belle Pour Aller Danser" which was cute when she sang it 40 yrs ago. Today, it'sjust not age-appropriate.

Tình cờ coi lại Tấm hình mấy nữ sinh ngồi trước Cửa Trường Gia long năm 55-56 thế kỷ trước, trong đó có Chị Bùi Mỹ Dương (Ko rõ có phải con gái Cụ Bùi Văn Bảo ?) nay đã định cư ở Mỹ. Nghe lại giọng ca Thanh Lan biết bao xúc động giữa Cảnh và Người Xưa.

I love the way she sounded on this cover of "Oh Mon Amour". Out of all the French tunes Thanh Lan had recorded back in Saigon, I think this song was her best work. But she had the biggest successes w/ 2 French covers in particular; "Bang, Bang" & "La Plus Belle Pour Aller Danser"... which made her a star! To Vietnamese all over, her name will always be linked to these 2 songs. To this day, fans still request her to do them at live shows. I'm sure she's gotten sick of these songs by now.
