This episode aired during the 1975-76 season. Also that season, Carroll O'Connor was on double duty, playing Archie on All in the Family and being executive producer of a crime drama called Bronk, which was also on CBS and was cancelled after one season.
Thanks for posting this.I thought the poem so perfect for a wedding and should I ever be blessed to be married I want that poem read at my marriage.I couldnt find that poem till now!
That was a stupid thing for Mike and Gloria to have read at their wedding, trying to be picture perfect liberals as usual. It is no wonder their marriage fell apart - albeit this is only a TV show. Mike and Gloria's characters both get a little bit over bearing at times.
BTW, where are Archie and Edith? The producers didn't feel like paying Carol and Jean in this episode? Nothing against Sally and Rob, but this is one the few AITF episodes that to put it as Archie would say, was "stinkeroo."
Gloria was a little too much. He's the provider,so it shouldn't be 50/50.He's the man of the house,60/40 is what it should be.If a violent intruder were to break into their home,Gloria wouldnt take the time to decide what to do.Automatically it's Mike that would take control.Thats a dumb comparison but it's a way to understand that women are weaker then men,and the man should be able to make certain decisions in the home without having to ask the wifes permission.Reasons 4 man wanting a divorce
I can't belive that in 2011 that some people still think women are weaker than men! Some women have better jobs than men do and are the providers in the family. So I think they have as much right to make decisions as men do!
Thanks for putting this up, Mynjunkyard. I love All in the Family, but I saw them when I was a little kid, so it's great to see them now when I can understand them.
Anyone know the book or the author of the poem that Mike read at 5:05 ?

Next, Gloria will complain that Mike determined the sex of their baby... that it wasn't a joint decision.
